They have opened another restaurant in the Umitkoy area and I cannot say enough good about it. The setting has a covered balcony and also a garden area that are very comfortable; and also, lots of indoor seating. The food was some of the best Turkish food I have had in Turkey. The only minor let-down was there is no alcohol serving. Service was fast and friendly even with our limited Turkish. Try their lahmacun!

Yesterday evening, I took my son to Duveroglu Restaurant (www.duveroglu.com.tr), Anittepe, after our visit to Salvador Dali exhibition in Cermodern (www.cermodern.org), Ankara. Founded in 1963, unlike other restaurants, Duveroglu serves the same menu for decades. Customers are almost always locals who live in that area. A common custom for pide (the grandparent of pizza) is to prepare the ingredients at home and cook it at Duveroglu (not a frequent custom to most restaurants around the globe). This was valid for the white haired old man of yesterday who was kindly served and saluted cordially by the staff and owners at this restaurant. My son ordered doner with ayran and I ordered beyti (which is adana style sish kebab rolled into wheat bread and served with sauce and yogurt) and cevizli baklava. The same taste I have been used for years appeared on the table in less than 10 minutes. The price was about 35 Turkish Lira which is a tip money in most Istanbul restaurants. They do not have a chef who was educated in executive schools, they do not serve alcohol (no vine list and cellar), they only have 10 items on their menu which remains solid for years, I am sure their ingredients are received from the same farms since years but they don’t display it, and they do not have (and even care for) ratings; however they respect their locals and the locals love them. I am not aware if there is a ranking for beloved food, but anytime I travel abroad and when I arrive back in Ankara, I go to Duveroglu to feel that I am back at home. The restaurant is located in walking distance to Anitkabir (the mausoleum of Ataturk) and it may take 5 to 10 minutes from the center of the city by taxi. Worth visiting? Yes. Respect to locals; please!!!

this place is very close to the city-center and offers traditional Turkish food and deserts to its guests. Prime Minister Erdogan also sometimes pay a visit to taste delicious food of Duveroglu.
