“fantastic holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

Just returned from 10 days at the Golden Lighthouse and wish we were back already. A lovely place, the staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them but they also manage to leave you in peace to relax and enjoy your holiday. Nadi arranged our pick up from Dalaman airport by email beforehand, it all went very smoothly and our holiday began straight away. We stayed in 2 comfortable rooms on the 1st floor with our teenage children, the pool and bar area were spotless and welcoming. Breakfast was typical fare, we also enjoyed the Turkish evening and barbeque evening during our stay. The free beach tractor taxi ran smoothly from outside the hotel and Patara beach together with the ruins were great places to be. Patara village has some great restaurants, food is fairly similar in all of them - we particularly liked the St. Nicholas pension and the Lazy frog. We will certainly return to Patara and the Golden Lighthouse.

Writing this on our last day whilst sitting at the pool with a cold Efes. It's our third trip and why do we come back? Peace and quiet at the lovely, cool pool, whilst soaking up the sun; friendly staff, who make you feel welcome and want you to enjoy your stay. The hotel is clean, comfortable and you are not part of the processing that comes with a big tour company style hotel / holiday. Patara is small and thankfully underdeveloped as a village. Thankfully not overly commercial, it is a taste of the real Turkey we experienced when first visiting the country in 1989. Try it and like so many we meet here you will want to come back. oh, and yes we will be back again before too long!

Just stayed 10 nights at the Golden Lighthouse and had the most relaxing of holidays.
The Hotel is spotless all over. The staff are so friendly and cant do enough to help you.
Nadi the young man in charge is so polite and approachable and nothing is too much trouble for him.
We stayed in Family Room 3 which is on the first floor at the back of the Hotel with a view over part of the village towards the distant mountains. The room had two rooms one with two singles and the other a double both rooms had an en suite shower/bathroom. Both rooms were a good size could have done with a set of drawers to put clothes in. Balcony with chairs to sit out and sip on a Raki as the sun set. Air conditioning was free as was the excellent wifi which you could access all over the hotel even by the pool, if need be.
Breakfast was okay, cheese, boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, melon. cake, yoghurt, jam, honey, olives, dried fruit, tea, coffee etc. help yourself to as much or little as you wanted.
The pool is great 2m deep all over and perfectly clean and well maintained.
They also provide a free tractor shuttle to the beach everyday on the Patara Expressi, which leaves at either 1030 or 1130 just let the staff know and they contact the shuttle to pick you up then at the end of the day at the beach you can return at either 1600 or 1700.
Their is a poolside snack bar with a fine reasonably priced menu but we did not use it during our stay and the bar prices are the same as in the village.
The Hotel is a 2 minute walk from the village up a slight incline.
It is about 200m from the Mosque and the call to prayer at daybreak at first is loud but as the days past you get used to it and it adds to the whole atmosphere of Patara.

All in all loved the Hotel and would go back again..

p.s. picture on front page is Golden Pension sister hotel of Lightouse.

Just returned from a two night stay at the Golden lighthouse, this was the end part of our one week walking holiday with new experience travel, fab hotel very clean, expect a little noise such as the 5 am call to prayer, which is all part of experiencing Turkey and the culture, which also included the dog howling along. Great pool, lovely helpful hosts, who because they were not busy let us keep our room well past check out on the last day. Breakfast is served at the hotel which was very good, not quite so good was the evening meal at the restaurant in Patara, which is a two minuet walk away. The only down side for me as a soppy dog lover were the stray dogs to be found in Patara, try not to make eye contact because they know a soft touch when they see one and will follow you everywhere, very friendly but full of fleas and they brake your heart, I ended up paying a restaurant owner to feed them so we could make our escape and to help assuage my feelings of guilt.

Another wonderful week at this delightful hotel. Staff friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Rooms clean and comfortable - food lovely and request for little more of something or different readily catered for. The location is perfect, a few minutes walk to the village and lots of nice restaurants to choose from for evening meal - we were a bit early in the year for the Turkish evening/bbq which we had last year but if you get the chance, have the meal - food delicious and plentiful and the staff can't do enough.
The pool, hammocks and general surround mean that you can chill out to your heart's content and any request for food/drinks are no problem - getting to the stunning beach is easy on tractor/trailer which collects and drops off - trips to Kalkan or Kas easy and worth the trip but for a quiet peaceful and stress free time just stay in Patara.........

I almost resisted writing a review as this is such a wonderful place it should be Turkey's best kept secret!
I have just returned from a perfect 10 days at The Golden Lighthouse hotel in Patara. I was travelling on my own and as a young woman I was a little concerned before I left that I'd perhaps become bored and lonely and get more attention from the men than I'd bargained for, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The hotel staff and other guests made me feel incredibly welcome and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. And the men were completely charming!
The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and come with air con which in the height of summer is essential. The breakfast, which is included, is a delicious traditional Turkish buffet. While the restaurant doesn't serve an evening meal, they do offer a special barbecue and 'Turkish night' dinner on specific nights which you should definitely do at least once as they're both fantastic.
There are all manner of excursions and adventures which can be organised from the hotel and I recommend them all! Particularly the canoe trip down the Saclicent river which ends at the stunning beach of Patara.
The hotel is positioned at the top of a small, steep hill in the village. The beach is a short and beautiful 35 min walk away along a eucalyptus tree lined road punctuated with Roman ruins that are still being unearthed.

I have never returned to the same place twice for a holiday, but in this case I fell in love with the village and hotel and have promised myself I will go back. Nearly every visitor I met had said the same; some had been saying it for the last 15 years!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you sleep lightly as the mosque is positioned at the fron...

The Golden Lighthouse is the best small hotel I have ever been too. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the air-conditioning makes it very comfortable to sleep! The staff are really wonderful, very helpful and made my holiday a great expereience. The new chef this year has brought new ideas to the food , which is all freshly made from local ingredients. This year I brought over 12 of my family and friends to the Lighthouse for a celebration, and without exception they all loved it and want to go back.

Room Tip: They have quiet rooms at the back and rooms overlooking the pool and with views across the valley at...
