“A very nice place to stay - even in the off-season”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

It was February and so the weather was mild and the village almost deserted. We were the only guests staying there and things were in a bit of a disarray. But that didn't matter. The place is very charming, the room spartan but comfortable and the staff very friendly. Oh... and the breakfast! One of the best kahvaltı tabağı I've had in a long time.

Room Tip: The terraces that face the restaurant are a great place to sit during dawn and dusk.

Tunahan, Mustafa and his wife are very nice and welcoming. The rooms here are very comfortable, fresh and clean. We slept very well, and our teenagers as well. The terrasse is also very nice, with air and shadow, and the breakfast was excellent ! Tea, coffee, fresh fruits, cheese, olives, eggs... everything was perfect.
We also had dinner in St-Nicholas restaurant, the food was tasty and perfect. When we will come back to Patara, we will straight go back to this pension, for sure! And the price is very good, one the the cheapest of Lycia.
NB: the pool at Delphin Hotel next to the pension was very nice, too. We went there one afternoon, charming.

Stayed at St Nicholas many times, just back from a four day trip there. If there is a better B&B in Patara, please let me know, because i can't fault it. B&B for £12, free use of hotel pool, tipical Turkish restaurant, fantastic family run place, the best. Went for a meal in Kalkan with som friends, paid twice as much, for a lot less standard of food.

I have stayed at the St Nicholas a couple of times when visiting Patara and found it yo be friendly and relaxed. the Restaurant is in my experience one of the nicest in the village.
I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment!
I will visit again this April to get away from Olu Deniz and sample what I feel is the real Turkey.
Great low key service and very friendly.

I emailed the Hotel from my home a week before arrival in Turkey, I was quoted £12 per night for a single room and I didn't pay anything upfront, in fact no booking was made, I just said I'd arrive sometime in the week. I had booked a cheap package to Icmeler (see other review), and drove down to Patara and spent 3 days there. I have been to Patara 5 times over the last 20 years, and Mustafa who also owns the Delfin has always been a very good host, so has his wife. St. Nicholas Pension is clean and situated very conveniently in the village. The beach can be reached within a 15 minute walk, although you are bound to take longer while taking in the rich history of Patara as you encounter many historic ruins on the way. Mustafa's wife cooks excellent turkish food and the price is good value. I would highly recommend you stay here. Tunahan, Mustafa's son was a little moody whilst I was there, but I'm sure its just growing pains :)

Room Tip: There is some noise from vehicles from the road, so try to get a room furthest away. Although its a...

St Nicholas is run by a lovelly family, Mustafa used to be the town Mayor. The family have bought a second hotel a couple of houses down from the St Nicholas. The St Nicholas does not have a pool, but you can use their other hotel's pool free of charge.

All of the rooms have AC, which is not charged extra.
Excursions are organised and run by the family such as canoeing, which includes a river side barbeque which is delicious. A boat trip around the sunken city, including dinner made with fish caught by the boat man. Trips to Saklecan are well worth a trip, you can walk up the gorge and have a mud bath at the end which is full of fantastic minerals. Lunch at Saklecan are very informal, sitting on a rug by the river eating chicken cooke in garlic and herbs with a nice glass of wine in 40 Deg heat, fantastic.

The town in Patara is full of huts which ARE the shops and bars, there are not many shops and bars in the town it IS a small villiage so don't expect Primark or anything like that.

From the hotel you can walk to the beach, it takes about an hour but you can look at the Roman ruins along the way which consists of a former roman town.

If you travel to Fethyie you can go to the market which is huge, but be careful there are a lot of pick pockets there.

A bus ride to Dalyan is well worth it, it is based around a river. You can take a river boat to Turtle Beach where you will see the most amazingly huge turtles. The beach is closed after 10pm as the turtles use the beach to lay their eggs.

I would highly reccomend booking your flights through Skyscanner and contacting the St Nic direct to arrange you accom, St NIc will do your transfer aswell if you ask.

Enjoy!!

Room Tip: First floor at the front of the property is best.

We were literally sad when we had to leave to continue our trip. We felt so much at home in this family owned pension that we wanted to stay longer. The rooms are very clean with AC, and the service was really good including free transport to Patara beach and back. The pension has as well a restaurant in a beautiful grape wine terrace. The food was delicious, they served with breakfast a self made fig marmelade I am still craving for. They also share a big pool with the Deflin Hotel nearby, which we used to chill out after a trip to Saklikent. They were so helpful and nice that we definelty have to go back again to visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are of course more quiet than those facing the restaurant
