It's not going to win any interior design awards but the food really is awesome and kazim and family so friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic, bed linen mismatching, and towels a bit worn and scratchy but frankly you're not paying for fluffy towels. My only real complaint was the lack of proper Turkish coffee at breakfast, only Nescafé. Boo! There is now a pool which will no doubt be welcome in the hotter months. Patara is an excellent base for seeing a really beautiful and fascinating region, and Akay pension is great value. A few of the other similar options in town may have better interior design and fluffy towels, but come to Akay for the really tasty Turkish home cooking in the evenings (a fixed menu and only for residents for now while kazim and his wife are busy with a new baby), we raved about every meal!
