What a let down! We wandered along the beach looking for lunch and this place seemed spot on as I don't eat meat and Maggie hates fish and the extensive menu seemed to have all the options that four of us needed. There were tables where one could almost dangle your toes in the sea under a pleasant awning on a glorious day.
The service was snappy and our drinks came quickly - while we waited for our meals we were brought tasty warm bread and spread - it all boded so well.
Then our meals arrived. I had gone for a fish kebab with 'bluefish' and grouper... new experiences for me. The skewer was generous and the peppers & onions tasty, but the grouper turned out to be a rather fishy fish, a little strong for me, but that was my lookout. The salad was rather below average (nothing tempted me to try it) and the chips a bit too 'french fries' for my liking, but hardly an issue.
However, Maggie's chicken shish looked overdone on the surface but underdone inside and she could not eat it being very wary of under-cooked meat of uncertain provenance. She had to make do with the fries... as there was nothing else gracing her plate.
Josh had the same although his chicken had been cooked just a little longer so was edible if nothing to write home about.
Julia's shrimp bolognese was weird. She had expected a tomato based sauce with traditional spaghetti, what she got was more like a carbonara with shrimps replacing the ham... albeit rather dried up shrimps and pasta somewhere between spaghetti and macaroni.
When we paid we did an un-English thing, we complained about the two three quarter full plates we returned (Maggie's and Julia's).
To give them their due the restaurant immediately and without fuss took off the price of their two meals.
Judging by other reviews we must have picked a day when the chef was not himself!
