The Hotel Gulec is located in an excellent spot for staying in Bodrum. The hotel is clean and the staff were very helpful in directing us to the places and sites and were keen to offer suggestions for dining.
A room on the second floor would be our recommendation. It is a little quieter and slightly larger. Bring your own shampoo! The breakfast is traditional Turkish and the service is excellent. The garden in the back was peaceful, and after a day of touring it was a welcome spot to relax with a beverage.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to breakfast area in the garden.

The Gulec (pronounced Gue-lech') is everything its website says: one of the very few courtyard pensyons left in Bodrum, run by the same family for decades. The courtyard garden is like eden...rose trees! The family is helpful and cheerful, funny even. Having spent months in Bodrum 40 years ago, I would say that Bodrum itself is a horror....I cannot reconcile all the wealth and restaurants and prices and sheer vacuity of the place.. with what it once was. The Gulec is an oasis in every sense. It is central, near the Bus station, not far from the Castle Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Mausoleum. The rooms are impeccable, extremely clean and well-maintained. Comfy mattresses. Beautiful woodwork, sunlight, excellent hot showers, even, (get this) air-conditioning. The breakfast is the typical Turkish kavulti: a plate of sliced fruit and veg, cheese, bread, a boiled egg, choice of tea (take it) or the lamentable Nescafe, curse of Turkey for 4 decades now. Anyone who had a problem should have immediately gone to Tayfon or owner Kemal who would have straightened everything out. Kemal rules!

Room Tip: Ask for room in the second building, the bedrooms in first building seem to face on the street.

This hotel has a good location a few minutes walk from the central otogar and room prices are reasonable, but our room was small, not so clean and in bad repair (the sink faucet ran all the time), Breakfast was just ok. Bodrum should have something better than this to offer.

My husband and I loved this hotel with its friendly, helpful owner. There's a shady garden to enjoy your breakfast or have a beer. It's only a few minutes walk from the water, the beach, the shops and restaurants.

We had booked 2 single rooms. Very clean. Hot water, clean linen and turkish breakfast included.
walking distance from all sites in bodrum city. If you are on a budget - this is the place to go.
They are also very receptive to changes, just email them.

Room Tip: Eat breakfast in the garden. Summers is full of roses!

Went to Bodrum and spent 3 nights at Hotel Gulec. It's nice garden made it very pleasant. It's a nice and peaceful hotel, but it's a bit noisey! We could easily follow the conversations in the room next door and other people checking in at the reception desk.
None the less we had a great stay. The hotel is just 3 minute walk from the beach and bar street, but still easy and relaxed.
