“Good location in Bodrum and not too pricey”
Reviewed 30 September 2012

We have stayed here thre times now for the following reasons: Location, Price and Facilities available. It is NOT luxury...but, for a base to use it is ideal. It has a clean swimming pool, the bar has a large variety to offer and is open until very late and the food is not too bad if you chose to eat here (although we did not, apart from the odd snack and breakfast which was acceptable). One word of warning is that YOU dictate the location of your room...ask for pool facing and first floor and get that in writing from your operator OR the hotel if booking direct through their website. Location could not be better as you are 5 minutes walkaway from the harbour, there is a little grocery shop dead opposite that is well stocked and the bus station is, again, only a short walk away and you can hop on a dolmus to anywhere you want to go. We never had a problem we could not overcome by asking, politely, for staff to rectify...which they did. The Moonshine is as you would expect a no frills apartment to be..if you want the lap of luxury then go elsewhere but we choose this one as it is a base for us and the low price means that we can beter spend our money elsewhere.

Room Tip: 1st or second floor and pool facing

Arrived at 5am where we were escorted to a tiny, insecure, mould infested basement room. We requested a family room and a balcony with a view of the pool area. What we got instead was a view of the wall behind the pool and one room with 2 single beds and a sofa bed located in the living room/kitchen. This was ridiculous as the living room was tiny to begin with. Also because it was a basement apt. there was not much light so we needed to keep the lights on all the time. It really was a depressing room to stay in, like a prison cell. Had no use for the kitchen as there was no kettle, cups, pots or cooker. But what was most disturbing was the fact that the front door did not lock properly and even when we did eventually get it locked, it could be EASILY opened by forcing the handle a few times. Every night we had to put the kitchen table against the door just so we could sleep with a little bit of comfort. Also the hotel was located in a very residential area which meant there was no tourist info at reception.
So disappointed with room as we paid so much for it and ended up in a cellar type, twin room. Comments on trip advisor were very misleading, our final booking was based on this advise. Listen, I do not expect luxury and i am not in any way fussy but not having a big enough room for 3 adults or a functioning kitchen OR even a locked door was disturbing to me. Also room was very unclean and housekeeping was very poor, mind you when your front door doesn't lock, cleanliness is the least of your worries!!

We moved to the moonshine from another hotel which was appalling. Family in England sorted this hotel our for us and we arrived within the hour to warm welcoming staff and rooms waiting. Although the hotel could do with a bit of TLC, compared to what we came from it was a palace. Lovely sized rooms with living area, kitchen, dining area and bathroom, and a lovely pool and surrounds. The bar was very well stocked and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The food at the hotel if the only thing that can let it down, the breakfast is traditionally Turkish and consists of a boiled egg, cucumber, olives, watermelon, tomato and bread which wasn't to our taste, but as this hotel is only 5 minutes away from plenty of eateries we enjoyed breakfast out and about. This hotel is a 5 minute walk on the flat to the marina, which was ideal as we were far enough away from the town so we didn't hear any of the hussle and bussle but close enough to just pop into town. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be using it our self in the future.

I stayed at this hotel over the Turkish religious holiday with my foreign guests. I am Turkish. The hotel, although clean, is not in as good a location as it states (there are many more hotels much closer to the water, marina, castle). The amenities are extremely meager, rooms are shabby, clientele looks suspcious, "clean" towels are dirty and bathrooms make weird noises all day long. Definitely not worth the price they are charging at all. What's more, the same day I checked out of the hotel the credit card I used to pay the hotel was used by someone else to access multiple porn sites. I had not used this card for any other charge recently. My guests and I are obviously extremely displeased with the hotel and as a Turkish citizen I suggest you find a much better place for your trip to Bodrum.

Room Tip: Do not choose this hotel.

My room was insanely expensive, about $US200, though admittedly all the Bodrum hotel prices were tripled during the busiest weekend of the year, when Ramadan ends. But even for $69 a night (the price on TripAdvisor) it wasn't good value. The wall beside my bed was stained. the toilet hadn't been flushed by the cleaning staff, ants crawled all over the bathroom and the place just seemed a bit dirty.
At breakfast, when an Italian man and I asked for tea, the waiter hissed at us, "Just relax, relax, it's coming!" When my tea finally came, it was lukewarm which in hindsight worrried me that they may have used tap water, and not boiled it. However I didn't get sick, so perhaps they used bottled water.
Reception was often unattended, so the keys behind the desk were pretty accessible to anyone who wandered in. My room had the most basic lock so I was a bit worried about security.
On the plus side, there was a nice pool, and my room had a little balcony overlooking the pool area.

After one week on gulet we stay for three nights in this apartment hotel.
We were 3 families, 5 adult and 5 juniors ( 10 -14 years). Glean hotel, nice and helpful personal.
We liked much. Good value for its price.

The property is near downtown, where you can reach in 5 minutes on foot. Although the kitchen utensils were dirty, the room was clean and peaceful. Air conditioner was working fine. The biggest problem was Wi-Fi access. We had to step outside the room to be able to connect. Overall, it's a good value for its price.
