“Perfect Location!”

Hotel Istankoy was great, so cheap and way above what we were expecting! It is right next to Bodrum beach, so there are lots and lots of restaurants around for you to eat in. Within walking distance to the markets, harbor and bus station to get to other places. We took a trip to Gumbet beach and had a lovely day, as long as you buy a drink you can stay on the sunbeds for free- although I recommend eating on the front as the food is very nice and affordable.

Istankoy is a great base to stay in, small and friendly with a karaoke most nights! If your a fan of steak try one at Istankoy- honestly the best steak I've ever had! My girlfriend is vegetarian and there were options for her everywhere. There is a sun terrace above the bar where there are lots of sunbeds and where no one else really goes, so its lovely and quite but very hot! Food and drink very cheap at the hotel and a great quality.

The best trip was the chill out cruise, it is guaranteed that there are no children and you get a whole day sailing at sea, great music playing and lots of opportunities to cool off in the sea and free drinks all day- with lunch included (i recommend mixing lemonade or Fanta with the wine otherwise its a bit vinegary), wouldn't recommend the Dalyan discovery; it costs a fair bit of money, takes a long time to get there and we didn't sea any turtles at all- even though they make out that they will be everywhere :(

before we went we were worried about how much we would spend on water- don't panic its about £1.20 for 5 liters of water so it actually works out cheaper than at home. all of the beaches have lovely warm water and are clean and clear.
If you can try and find somewhere to watch belly dancing! be warned though she may get the men up to dance.

Room Tip: If you like to go to bed early get a room as far away from the bar as possible because the karaoke g...

We returned last week from a stay at the Istankoy. The staff are excellent, so friendly, helpful and charming. We were put into a truly dreadful room above the kitchen, the noise from the bar until the early hours was bad enough, but then at 5am the parrot started, then at 6am the kitchen staff chatter ad clatter kept me awake. We asked to move, but were told there was nothing, Thomsons did nothing to move us either. Our shower kept shooting up in the air to spray the room, which might explain for the horrible black mould over the bathroom ceiling. The air con did not work properly, which at 40 degrees was needed. The chap that came to fix it just shrugged, i was not bothered as I thought we were moving. I highly recommend Curly's bar, it is so clean, the food english, but good choice and the pool lovely. Kermit - what a character! We could not use the pool at the Istankoy, so few beds cramped together for the number of people staying, the pool is not big enough. Someone needs to address the towels on sunbeds, put them in a basket in the morning and then first come first served. To sum up, if you want a good nights sleep don't stay at the Istankoy. But if you want friendly staff, mediocre english food with little choice, and a central location then this is a good hotel. The corner bar is also very friendly, and the cake shop brilliant. Lots of Turkish delicacies. Not for young families, too much swearing from other guests, and men sitting down to dinner without shirts on. Standards!

Room Tip: Dont let them give you a room above the kitchen, it is hot and very noisy.

we have just come back from istankoy for the 8th time and it just gets better every year we go the hotel is amazing, cannot understand why its only 2 star! spoke to lots of people who have been in 3/4 star and said it's so much better! recently we came back and everyone we spoke to from the hotel who had never been before all said they would definitely be returning. The staff are amazing and always friendly and willing to please, the food is great, and Ali and Hasan behind the bar are top class! We are already looking to book again for next year. Missing you all loads at Istankoy! best hotel in Turkey xxx

Good value hotel - cheap and cheerful as another reviewer commented.

First the negatives - Got off to bad start giving us wrong room, double instead of twin. Fixed this next day. Breakfast is just functional in filling stomach - could be easily improved with some small additions. New room was fine. Shower was difficult to get right temperature. Sun beds an issue with towels going on in early morning and remaining empty until after noon. Children take over smallish pool so difficult for adults to get a look in. Solution - go up the road to Curly's Bar which has a nice pool and great friendly atmosphere.

Positives - Location is the best, everywhere is an easy walk but just far enough out of central bar street to be quiet. Really excellent and enthusiastic barstaff really to go the extra mile for you. Drink is cheap. Good crack at night - turning music down after 12 so no problems sleeping. Rooms spotless. Food is decent. Boat trip was good and barbeque night ok.

For many this hotel seems to be Marmite - love it or hate it.

If you are out for comfort, pampering, pool life, etc. you will be disappointed. If you like meeting people and mixing, enjoying crack, laughing off the little issues etc you will be satisfied.

Istankoy deserves 3 and a half stars.

Room Tip: If you are dissatisfied complain at once. Perhaps the poorer rooms go to those who don't.

Just returned from a weeks stay at this wonderful hotel in Bodrum. My friend and I (both 18) wanted a cheap get away with a good mixture of things to do and good nightlife, and I must say that Bodrum (and the Istankoy) really stepped up to the plate!

Staff are welcoming and friendly, and honestly the hardest working people I've ever met! Service is speedy and efficient, and the meals we had whilst at the hotel were lovely. Our room was of decent size, being both clean and well presented. The hotel is in a prime location, just a few minutes from the beach, shops, bars and clubs. Also in good travelling distance to Gumbet (about 5minutes in a taxi) if in search of a more lively club resort, where X Bar, Pasha, and Shakers offer an enjoyable night out (as far as clubs in Bodrum are concerned i recommend Whitehouse, Red Lion and Temple). The bar at the hotel is always a good laugh, bar staff are entertaining to say the least and all residents are made to feel most welcome.

All in all, a wonderful holiday. Since returning I've said (and i stand by it) if I could move the Istankoy around the world with me on my travels I'd be more than chuffed. To anyone thinking of visiting Bodrum, I really recommend you stay here.

I have recently returned from my 4th stay at the Istankoy Hotel. The hotel is in a great location, near to the beach and bars!!
The hotel staff are all great and really go that extra mile to make your holiday extra special. If you want somewhere fun to stay whilst in Bodrum I highly recommend the Instankoy Hotel.
