“Great value - a bit dated but comfortable with excellent staff. Had a good time”
Reviewed 16 November 2010

We had a great stay here in October. Weather was a bit mixed - occasional heavy downpours which staff admit they had never seen before - but it was still warm and there was enough sun to go away with a tan. The hotel is a little dated but had great character and the staff were excellent - and friendly. I was impressed by the reception manager greeting us by our surname each time we met - how do they remember ? The location is a little out-of-town which meant a quiet night. The local area looked neglected but we got used to it and felt safe at all times. The local council needs to tidy up this area! Rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The cleaner occasionally left an artisitc towel arrangement on the bed decorated with petals - a nice touch. There is a good sized pool and enough loungers available when we were there. We used the spa in the hotel for a treat, which was well worth it. The advertised fitness room was absent though. Food - if you like salads, you'll be at home. I'm not a great salad eater but the offering here was so impressive I had a salad each night before my main course. However, there was always something fresh cooked on the barbecue but the buffet main courses were a bit boring and low quality. Desserts - forget it, they were awful. There were tasty pizzas in the afternoon and coffee and cakes/biscuits at about 5. We spent a lot of the time out-and-about and frequently used the excellent dolmus bus service - amazing and you can flag one down anywhere. Took a taxi one day - don't do it - a scary experience! Right next to the hotel are ancient ruins. You can literally walk from the pool to the ruins and explore, although they have been neglected a little. Visit the amphitheatre nearby also - worth a walk. Beaches - try Bitez for a relaxing lounge by the sea - great bars too. Or try Camel beach if you fancy a camel ride - a very quiet beach though, good if you want to get away from it all. Try the local bar/restaurant here - we were invited into the kitchen to choose our own food from the bubbling pots. It was delicious. Hated tackling the market and shops in Bodrum though - constant hassle which meant we never actually bought anything there. Nice place to visit and eat - not cheap though, we found prices about the same as UK. Hotel is probably suited to the more mature traveller but my teenage daughter was happy to sunbathe and swim in the pool. No nightlife or evening entertainment here at all. Otherwise, a fantastic trip, great value - would go back.

Arrived at the hotel 11.30pm so was ravenous for breakfast. What a dissapointment that was, a number of cereals, salad, cold meats cheese, and nothing else. No toasting machine but tons of bread. Lunch and evening meals no better, chicken, rice, potatoes, salad & something that tasted like tinned westlers burgers that changed shape every day. No vegetables or variation at all not even with dessert. Soup was ok (THANK GOD). Choice of drinks was very limited, raki, vodka, beer & some horrible syripey drinks. Then they had the nerve to charge us 10 lira for a cocktail! Entertainment consisted of one quiz night in the 7 days we stayed there. The gym had no equipment, no table tennis, no games room, no satelite tv all as advertised in brochure. No way is this hotel is 4* the accomodation is 3* food 2* enterainment 1.

We returned on the 26th October from a weeks stay at the l'ambiance resort in turkey, and as I have said you get what you pay for. We booked a late deal, with a total of 9 travelling, 5 adults 4 kids, just under £250 each flights and accom, so we thought we'd get bum deal once we were there, we read the reviews before hand and to be honest were dreading what we would get for our money, but were pleasantly surprised! The rooms were clean, we had fresh linen and towels each day,we were some of the lucky ones, and had hot water throughout our stay, as I heard some guests saying they had none! The food wasnt a great selection, mainly salads, bread, soup and the 'odd' meat dish ( and some of them did look odd!) okay if you like chicken off the bar-b-que, , but at the end of the day you make the most of it- or go into Gumbet and eat, much cheaper than Bodrum. The staff were friendly enough, if not sometimes a bit creepy towards the teenage girls, the hotal manager on the last day even let us stay on in our rooms until we left late evening, we should have vacated at 10am, and we were eve lucky enough to remain all inclusive until our departure, which some hotels charge for! We understand it was the end of the season, and the hotel was due to close the day we left, so its understandable if the food and drink were basic on the last day!
The only downside of the stay, was that there was nothing for the teengares to do, apart from sun bathe, or swim, apparently the table-tennis equipment had been put away due to the rain the week before, and there was no pool-table in sight, you could play darts, but with only one dart to play with it was a bit tedious. But I think the kids did well to say there was nothing to keep them occupied. I wouldnt go with a baby or toddler as it would be nightmare, too many steps, and not really geared up for little ones, never been to a hotel that doesnt even have a play park!
The setting of the hotel is just about right, just out of tourist area, a 10 minute walk to either Gumbet or Bodrum, If you fancy a McDonalds, not far to walk, but take your own life in your hands at crossing the main busy road, I dont think they have grasped pedestrian crossings yet!!! Beware of the roads as most drive like maniacs! Several boats trips go from Gumbet, which are really enjoyable, and the beach is lovely threre.
I didnt think much of the Olympic rep- we had a welcome meeting with her on the day of arrival, and she babbled through stuff, didnt see anymore of her, until the odd meal time, when she graised on the food, not at all friendly, didnt approach people and ask if everything was okay, which most reps do, on the evening of departure, I asked if the flight was still going on time, and she bit my head off, I think she needs a personality transplant as I found her really rude and un-interested in the guests staying at the resort, at the end of the day if there were no guests to look after, she wouldnt get a wage!
All in all, not bad for what we paid, and turned out to be a good holiday, despite some guests moaning at every opportunity, make the most of it! But I wouldnt like to go in peak season!!! May return, but probably without the kids, and I would definately get out of the hotel and explore more!

It was a good location lots of tombs etc, sited by ancient city gate very historical.
If you want to lay around and do nothing good as there is nothing to do within the hotel apart from the pool which was good.
We stayed allinclusive there was only one beer tap which ran out frequently, staff had to go off site for new barrel (1 hr wait).
Sun beds were nice wooden ones which should have had wheels most were missing and many sunbeds were broken and there were only 9 pool umbrellas for the whole hotel( like gold dust).
No entertainment at night except for one night with there was a belly dancer who wanted money for her performance.
The one person entertainment team put on his vest for 1 hr to play records at dinnertime his partner left soiled nappy and all her rubbish at the pool side.
The food was cold most of the time and didn't change much throughout our stay.
Waiters tried to carry multiple plates spilling food down themselves at lunch time the stains still there at dinner time.
We were the only british people for first four days at most of the stay only around 12 in total mostly belgium who were ok.
It was a long walk from main resort and beach.
You could see in the past the hotel must have been good but had lacked investment in recent years.
The staff were not interested in complaints .
No way a 4 star hotel even for Turkey nearer two.If this would have been our first holiday in Turkey there is no way we would have gone back stayed at two other Turkey 3 star who were much better.

cant understand what people had to complain about .had a lovely relaxing week manager more than helpful, let us keep our rooms till we got picked up @ 01.20am and fed us all day, not many hotels do that.normally have to be out by 12 noon, food was ok plenty to choose from, could have been hotter though. If people want steaks and full english then book somewhere else and pay more. You get what you pay for.I liked the cats they were cute.the moaners were the only thing i could complain about i was sick of hearing them going on and on.

Just got back from hell and i mean hell where do i start,
If you like cold shower with dirty water and dirty bathroom your in the right place maids dont change your bedding or clean your rooms.
Meal times like being at the animal zoo cats every where under your table on your table running around all over.
The reps if that what you want to call them omg you only see the female rep at meal times not looking after guess but feeding her face befor going back into her hole the male rep wat a waste of life he was didnt see him once ask any one how there hoilday was.
there was no gym or sky tv because they where taken by the repo man with the wooden sun beds and replaced with 1980 placstic beds which where never cleaned just like the dirty swimming pool.
The bar area never cleaned they even ran out of beer passing water of as vodka and at 10,45pm 1 beer 1 person rule 11pm you pay about £2,50 for half pint of cheap beer.
I could go on for ever about this dirty hell hole so if you want to know more email me at brian7964@hotmail.co.uk
