If you're tired of the meze/fish/rakı routine; here's a cosy little place where you can enjoy a quiet evening and a glass of wine. Food is ok.; nothing sensational but the ambiance makes up for it. Stephen is a pleasant host. Best time to go would be spring and autumn. I think this place would probably appeal most to expats, locals or part-time locals.

“The proverbial little gem...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014

We spotted this place a couple of months ago as we were walking around Bodrum. We know the town pretty well but seldom wander around the alleyways in the eastern part of the town. We spotted Evimiz but it was closed. Seeing us looking at the sign a neighbour told us all about it and raved on enthusiastically. We vowed to come back...

And that we did yesterday (Tuesday 02 April) lunchtime. Sat in the lovely courtyard (although the inside looked inviting we decided we'd get the best of the weather) we were very swiftly served. They have a terrific small wine list that's all from one source and all Turkish. Prices are approachable and the Cabernet Sauvignon we had was exceptionally good. The prix fixe menu offers three courses for 17 YTL (£4.78 today) and it's true value in the French style. I actually love having no choice. The chef gets to provide what he or she wants (in this case he in the shape of the wonderful Stephane who we met after we ate).

After a few minutes we were served a spring/summer chilled tomato and basil soup (kind of a gazpacho) and some country bread. Lovely! Just lacking a bit of seasoning but that was soon fixed. Next up was what they called a turkey escalope Normande that included apples and onions and was finished with a little cream. This was served with crushed potatoes and strips of carrot and leek (I think). To finish (billed as a chef's surprise) was a kind of mille feuille that was utterly delicious.

All in all a wonderful experience. We intend to return for dinner as soon as possible and lunch more often. You just can't get food of this quality (and type) in the Bodrum area and at such keen prices. If you are in the area eat there. Indeed eat there more than once!

“Cute, but not happy with the food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2014

Evimiz is a cute little restaurant in a side street hidden from outside and the busy city. It has a great ambiance especially for winter.
They have a set menu with a starter, main dish and the dessert. I must admit I found the food disappointing. First of all there was not a menu or anything. They did not even communicate how the whole thing works there or what the food was going to be. They just started bringing our starters half an hour later which was a half cooked quiche lorraine? Followed by some lamb dish which looked like cooked by some chef on his first day at work and a tart. Tart looked ok but I did not taste it. I left still hungry. I would not choose to go there again. Considering that this was an expensive place they should up their game a bit.

“Cosy and friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2014

We visited Evimiz on a very cold Saturday evening and were the only guests. The indoor restaurant is a tiny very cosy room with a lovely log fire. It felt like having our own private dining room. Food was delicious and the service, from a friend of the owner, was extremely friendly and efficient. We had a lovely evening and it was a great change to have something other than Turkish food.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2013

Well worth a visit, lovely lovely food. We visit as often as we can, just be sure to book in advance for lunch as they generally just cook for the numbers booked, especially at this time of year when visitor numbers are greatly reduced and it's just the locals dining.
