Dolce Bodrum Hotel and Beach club
Ranked #31 of 97 Hotels in Bodrum City
Reviewed 11 October 2013

We stayed at the Dolce Hotel in Bodrum during September / October 2013. Although we've visited Bodrum many times over the last 27 years, this is by far the nicest hotel we've stayed in ... including some of the resort's 4 and 5 star hotels.

Its position is not really suitable for those with mobility problems as it is accessed by a rather steep drive. However, travel by taxi (there is a call button by the entrance) and it really is no problem. There is a lift in the hotel connecting the floors.

The whole hotel is kept spotless and each of its 30+ rooms has a balcony with terrific views over the bay. My only very minor quibble with the room facilities is that the TV didn't have any English language programs (BBC or CNN news) .... it did not distract from enjoying the holiday and we really didn't miss it.

Breakfast consisted of full buffet-style offerings, including hot choices, and was beautifully prepared and presented. Lunch and dinner are offered on an a la carte basis, with quality and service being equally good.

Excellent, clean pool with beds and mattresses available together with a pool bar.

A small, family-run hotel where nothing is too much trouble.

I would have no problem in recommending this hotel and will definitely be staying there again.

Taxi from hotel to Bodrum centre is C.20TL (£6.20) and ferry 6TL (£2.00). Dolmus (stops on main road) but only suitable for Bodrum to Bardakci route costs 3TL (£1.00)

Tip ... go by boat ferry into Bodrum (short down-hill walk to ferry) and return via dolmus.
Late-night revelers take the taxi ...

This hotel is set on a hillside across the bay from the busy tourist area of Bodrum. You can walk all the way into town in about 20-30 minutes, or walk about 10 minutes. and take a little ferry across the bay. Either way, there is a fairly steep hill to climb up to the hotel. If you don't mind the climb, it's worth the effort. It is a beautiful property with views across the bay and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are not the most modern, but very clean and well maintained. It is a ten minute walk to the windmills at the top of the hill.

It is a very good value for the money, in a quiet location and close to the beach. It is not a luxurious place, if that is that is what you want you may try the Salmakis Resort...
This hotel is run by a nice family, it is very clean, has a nice pool, the staff is very friendly and the food is very good as well as well priced. The breakfast is very tasty as well. The only drawback would be the driveway which is probably too steep for elderly people , unless they have a car.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea view, I would choose one on the upper floors, there is less noise from the pool..

We stayed at the Dolce for four nights at the end of July 2013. The rooms are a little basic but they are super clean and well presented. The staff and owners/managers are very helpful; nothing is too much trouble. The food is very good and great value so do not discount lazing by the nice pool and staying around the hotel fir the day.

Taxis are abundant and cheap but to get to Bodrum the boat taxi from the beach is best 6 lira pp each way. Nite that the Dolce is up a steep hill from the beach - nit a problem for most but elderly/infirm may prefer getting a taxi in and out of the hotel.

We wanted to be near Bodrum but not exposed to the banging base music which goes on until 4am in the main town and this hotel is perfect for that. Last boat back is around midnight which is perfect.

Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the ground floor as they are right right next to the swimming pool.

Firstly the positives, and they are by far in the majority.

+ Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff and management. Nothing was a problem, whether it was an early breakfast, extra power adaptor and pillows, Turkish coffee special each morning, etc.
+ Quiet at nights - no mosque in earshot, the two nearby noisy other hotels easily silenced by closing the double-glazed windows and further quietened by turning the air on on in any case the other hotels seemed to stop their noise around midnight.
+ Wonderful views, rooms protected from the hot afternoon sun.
+ Great value for money - both rooms and meals.
We really hope to be back.

A few other observations
- Some shuttle buses not keen to drive up 100m long steep drive (taxis were ok).
- 20min walk to Bodrum, but good exercise, can be in extreme heat.
- Water pressure was very variable (but we always managed a shower when we wanted one)
- Shower curtains required precise placement to keep them out of the way
