Villa Arya is a nice villa in a quiet location; within easy walking distance of shops, beach & restaurants (Sirca is very good which is just over the road). The pool is of a good size for a family and the pool area is surrounded by shrubbery to give added privacy. We personally like the fact that there were iron bars on the patio door and the ground floor windows, which isn't shown on the Thomson photo, as it made us feel secure, due to the fact that we have had intruders in a previous villa. On the down-side, the shower cubicles were grubby - they had mouldy stains which we tried to clean off to no avail. Also, for a couple of nights we had no water after 6:30pm but when reported to our excellent rep it was rectified in no time. We didn't spend any time on Bitez beach because it appeared dirty so we found smaller, quieter beaches within easy driving distance. However, Bitez beach looked totally different at night, it was very popular with numerous restaurants to choose from. We booked an Adventure Jeep Safariwhich was expensive but enjoyable, although the trek up the mountain, to see the stalactites and bats in the 45 degree heat and the dangerous paths, was hard-going. The meal included in the excursion was cooked by locals at their home and was very tasty and they were very welcoming. We were the only English people on the trip but our driver and the guide could both speak good English. Having said all that we thoroughly enjoyed the day. The restaurants which we would recommend are Vona but it's a bit pricey, Pagoda - good food and the staff were very welcoming (especially Sami), we were frequent visitors and the English breakfast is as good as it sounds, The Lemon Tree, Blue Moon, Pagoda and not forgetting Sirca. The market at Yalikavak was more managable than the one at Turgutreis as it wasn't as busy or as big, though they were both selling pretty much the same things. Our rep had a very good knowledge of the area and gave us some ideas as to where we could visit during our stay. Excellent rep called Karen who visted us 3 times during our stay and gave us her number should we need it. Beware Bodrum airport when going home as it's very busy and very expensive so we recommed you try and sneak your food in!
