The beach just by the hotel is great and there is a calm mood in Bitez, altso with nice places to take a walk if you are fed up with the sun bed. The access to a bus to Bodrum just outside was also nice to have. The kids enjoyed the place. The hotel is ok, the air conditioning is working the rooms are big and the cleaning was avarage. The food was not impressing any of us, the children or the parents. A buffet with only one or max two hot meals. The breakfast was ok but nothing more. The service was sloppy. The drinks did not arrive before some of us were finished eating. The service just a few meters down, to the a la carte guests, was of a totally different caliber and really anoying to watch. But all in all, an ok hotel if you skip the food.

We have just got back from a 2 week half-board stay in beautiful Bitez. My wife and I went with our 4 children. The older 3 kids are aged 14-16 and they had their own room. My wife and I had a room with our 7 year old. The rooms were spacious and clean. We were impressed that unlike other holidays the staff had understood our requirements by giving the kids a room with 3 beds and we had a room with a double bed and a single.
We arrived late at night and were dropped off at the main gate. We had 6 cases. The security guard was very helpful and asked us to follow him to reception. He wheeled 2 cases and we followed pulling the rest. The hotel has cobbled paths throughout to get to the reception area and the rooms. 6 cases being pulled across these made quite a sound! During the next 2 weeks I started to feel more guilty about all the guests we would have woken with our cases as most nights we were woken during the night by guests arriving or leaving and pulling their cases past our bedroom door. This problem could easily be resolved by the staff using a trolley with rubber wheels as that would be much quieter.
The staff were all great and looked smart in their white uniforms. The food was of good quality and there was a decent enough variety. The problem with a buffet is that you are tempted to have a bit of everything and end up with a meal that doesn't really work. We would look at everything and then decide what to have and get it. This led to less waste and more sensible looking meals. By the second week we were fed up of buffet food so we ate out a few times.
I never drank at the Okaliptus bar as our friends were staying at the Toloman next door which was cheaper and played music at a more sensible volume. The music - The Okaliptus has a lovely cushioned area on the beach with some hammocks and swinging chairs. It would be very nice to sit there in the evening and have a drink or a snooze in the afternoon. However during the afternoon and night they play music very loudly which is another reason we didn't use the bar. Our friends staying at the Toloman had a room that faced the Okaliptus and they found that if they went to bed before 2am they were kept awake by the loud music.
The noise from the music and the suitcases being dragged past our room are the only criticism I have of this hotel. The location is fantastic and the beach beds are great. It is frustrating to read that other people have made the same complaints and these 2 easily fixable issues still exist.
We had a wonderful time and the hotel was a great base. It is a good hotel that could so easily be great.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room away from the bar area as it will be quieter

Anyone who goes there as half board and eats elsewhere is stupid. The evening buffet style meal is fantastic...so much to choose from...every possible salad selection, numerous cooked dishes, desserts and fresh fruit dishes to die for.... and the BBQ going practically every night with fish, chicken, meat and lots of barbequed veg.

The staff are brilliant, and so friendly , if you take the time to chat to them and get to know them. The only problem from my point of view is that the owner does not seem to appreciate his staff as much as he should.

Apart from the hotel, they are his biggest asset and he doesn't seem to be as positive as he could be. With him, it all seems to be negative. In 2 weeks , I saw him follow the staff to keep them on their toes constantly..... but not one instance of a positive nature. A man in his position should realise that those who work for you respond better to a little more encouragement and a few more smiles.

In that way, they will come back to work for you the following season.

Room Tip: All you need is a place to sleep, shower and change.... so from that point of view , they are clean...

We travelled as a family with two sons aged 20 and 16 in August 2011. The hotel was a pleasant surprise and the staff very helpful and polite. We couldn't have asked for a nicer location, what a choice, the pool or the beach, or relaxing on the colourful cushions on the beach. There was a choice of sun beds on the beach and around the pool. The food was fantastic as it was authentic Turkish. Don't come to this hotel if you only want to eat English food. What is the point of coming to Turkey to eat bacon and eggs every day!. The staff worked tirelessly keeping the guests happy and making sure the hotel and the grounds were clean and tidy. They were forever lasting sweeping the passagesin the hotel, the paths around the gardens and the pool area. Every morning and evening all the bean bags/cushions were moved and the entire area swept clean of sand, leaves and any litter. We had a standard room with a large king sized bed and two single beds in it but we had plenty of room to move around. The balcony was great although the garden chairs were a big tired but we put the indoor furniture out on the balcony and it was very private. We weren't overlooked. Beds were made up every day and the floor swept and mopped. Our linen was changed once during our stay and we got clean towels three times during our holiday. We were there for 10 nights. The staff were very accommodating and tried very hard to make your stay pleasant. There was free use of two computers and free air con in the bedroom. I would definitely be coming back to this hotel as it was the best in the area and very popular with all nationalities and especially Turkish people. That says a lot if the locals come to this hotel. You feel totally relaxed although I hope they get a larger selection of music as it became monotonous listening to the same songs every day. You never heard the music when you were in your room. One thing I would say is that we had the large generator right outside our bedroom and on two occasions when there was a power in the area, the generator kicked in for about 30 minutes which was very loud but once you shut the pation door, it did muffle the noise. I am hoping we can get booked up to come again next year as the Okaliptus hotel and Bitez changed my views of Turkey and the Turkish people as last year we had a rough time in Icmeler.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor are better as you have a balcony which is very private although there is no...

We travelled as a couple; i am 20 my partner is 21 and overall we found the holiday great fun as we went scuba diving,to the aqua park and the turkish hammam.

THE HOTEL: The Okaliptus however was initially a great disappointment as we were dropped off in the early hours of the morning. The hotel does not even has a proper front like normal hotels its name was just on a wall with no security guards to help us to our room. So with our luggage we we wondered around the building for about 15 minutes before we found the reception which was based all along the other end of the building.

THE ROOM:
We were then given our room which was on the bottom floor; i have heard the top is better; but the room was hot and had a damp smell; by this time it was 6:30 am so we just slept trough the night and requested another room in the morning. **Be aware the hotel staff do not speak english that well so it is frustrating when you are trying to express your problems.** We were given another bottom floor room except it didnt smell as bad yet the handles of the shower room was disgustingly dirty, the bed was clean and the room was quite large. The shower is ok, not dirty but its not anything nice to be honest. The bed is big but we had to request a duvet cover twice before we actually got one. There is a tv but it wasnt very clear and the programmes were basic 1-5 english channels.

THE LOCATION:
If you walk out the hotel you literally walk 5 minutes past the hotel pool &(which hardly anyone uses because it is very cold) and you are on the beach. There are many free sunbeds but get out of your room by 10/11 latest to avoid disappointment. The hotel staff are very friendly and nice (if you tip them a little- you dont have tip every waiter but make friends with 1 or 2; they will look after you very well in the evening aswell. Bear in mind the drinks are veryyyyy expensive at the hotel bar so you can just search for the supermarket when you first reach ( for water bottles etc which are cheap but other products arent cheap eg food/oil/hairspray prices compared to england,) you can store the water bottles in your fridge and take them in your beach bag when necessary but dont be too obvious about it because i dont think they are too keen on this..

At night the location of the hotel has many cushions, shisha on the beach and music and it is very comfortable and safe. the music can get a bit loud at times even for a young couple like ourselves , but we werent too bothered but it is advisable not to send your evenings here if you r looking for something quiet. yet it is peaceful, there is a great atmosphere and a chance to enjoy cocktails etc where you are sitting.

THE FOOD:
we went half board with breakfast and dinner included. To be honest i really disliked the food. the turkish breakfast is continental with plain omelette and cold meats and cheese. there is bread and bowls of things which had no labels which was very confusing and every morning it is the same thing. The dinner was slightly better and as we do not eat beef they made us a chicken option which was very nice of them yet it was not great food at all apart from one night where they did a barbeque of tuna fish and peppers. The desert was cake not very appetising...covered in blue green and red liquid icing. I wish we had gone bed and breakfast..just for the pure convenience of having breakfast close by in the morning.

overall we had so much fun as you can organise activities to do over your days, yet the hotel was actually a big let down and so was the food .If you are looking for really nice accomodation this hotel is NOT the place to stay!!!!! it is most definetely 2/3 star but i believe travelodge rooms are much nicer then those at okaliptus. I believe we paid for location as opposed to accomodation as it wasnt very pleasant.

Although the location was great with lots of things to do; i dont think we will be returning here -do not be fooled by the cheap price, i would rather pay more than stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor

We were advised this was 3 star on our Thomas Cook holiday so had low expectations but I would definatley return. Our family room was perfect, large spacious, spotless, fantastic shower, enclosed balcony. The hotel is cleverly landscaped in beautiful gardens. The food (Turkish) was excellent with plenty of choice in the evening although the breakfast was a bit samey. There was music from the bar from midday but I think it was too loud only on the first day and you couldn't hear it from the rooms. The pool was small but adequate and never too busy and the sun lounger facilities at both the pool and beach were excellent in addition to the free hammocks, cushions and swing chairs! There were always loads of staff on duty, all immaculately dressed, all friendly and helpful. The cleanliness was the most impressive thing. Public areas were absolutley spotless and were relaxing and safe for our children to wander on their own.If you want clubs this is not the right place for you but for a quiet family holiday Bitez was perfect.

Room Tip: If you ask for a first floor you have an enclosed balcony.
