“Orion Hotel, Bitez”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

If you want a relaxing holiday, in lovely surroundings then this is the place to go. Just a few minutes from the lovely clean beach, the Orion was everything we wanted from a holiday. The barman/chef/entertainer/receptionist/general dogsbody - Erhun was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The rooms were kept really clean, in fact the whole place was spotless. We had a wonderful week and didn't want to leave! Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to holiday in Turkey. Bodrum is only a 15 minute bus ride away and is well worth a visit. The resort of Bitez has plenty of variety of restaurants/bars to suit all tastes.

Room Tip: Rooms opposite the entrance have a sea view.

Me and my friend arrived home last week after staying at the Orion Hotel and we have missed it from the moment we left.
The hotel was very clean and well-looked after by the cleaners, which may I add were very hardworking, happy people who were always keen to help with anything they could, along with the receptionist who always seemed to be happy.
It's a small, peaceful hotel with a lovely modern pool and bar with plenty of sun loungers for everyone. However when your looking for some excitement the barman Aaron (Erhun) is always creating some sort of entertainment, weather it's trying to get you to jump into the pool with him or making you your favourite drink and making you laugh with his cheeky sense of humour. Not only was he the barman but he was also the cook! Offering to make us delicious food anytime, day or night. Also he was very eager to greet all of the new guests that were arriving at the hotel with a friendly smile and helped them with their bags. It's thanks to Erhun that we had such a great holiday because of his humour, kindness and the thought that he put into his service really did make our holiday one to remember!
We would defiantly consider going back there next year, especially if the same staff (Erhun) were still working there!

Just back from a wonderful holiday. Stayed at the Orion hotel which was far more than expected. On arrival Aaron was helpful, taking our cases to the room and on finding the broken loo seat it was fixed immediately. The week just got better and better, meeting some lovely people, all so friendly and the general ambience was of a relaxed feel. Thank you to billy the manager and to Aaron for always being on hand to get whatever was wanted. Aaron jumping into the pool when things needed livening up a little, fully clothed, just for the surprise factor... Even though he had been up until early hours serving the guests drinks at the pool bar. You felt welcomed and included but there wasn't anyone pushing you to spend.
The breakfast was fine, fresh bread, eggs, cheeses, meats, fruits, cereals etc and tea/coffee. The best was saying good morning to fellow guests, having a laugh, getting tips on where to go and not go ... Lovely time of day. So what if it wasn't a la carte ... We hadn't paid for that!!
You really should go, enjoy the hotel and the small resort of bitez.
A brilliant holiday !!!

Room Tip: Most rooms face the pool. This is also the bar so evenings there are people at the bar but it didn...

Stayed in Orion for a week in July with my boyfriend (both aged 20), found the hotel was very clean and everything that we wanted; just a small relaxing hotel close to the beach! The bar manager could not do enough for the guests with him manning the bar, food and sometimes checking people in and carrying their bags to their rooms. The rooms were basic, very clean and the shower was very powerful! The hotel is located within a 2 minute walk from the beach where their is free sunbeds but also there is always sunbeds at the hotel, if one was not available (very rarely) the bar manager would make you one out of the large cushions. Overall the hotel was great!

We stayed at the Orion Hotel at the end of June 2013 and had a wonderful time. Billy, the manager was lovely and Arran, the barman was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is just a 5 minute (honestly just 5) walk from the beach, restaurants and shops. While the hotel is small it is very friendly, breakfast is served outside and there is a good range of food. On arrival we were given a wonderful fruit cocktail (see picture) and made to feel very welcome. The pool is small but plenty big enough for dipping into to cool down before lazing back on a sunbed to top up the tan. Arran is happy to bring you drinks through out the day and you can settle up at the end of the day. Thank you Billy and Arran for making our stay so wonderful! Can't recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor that overlooked the pool, bar and outside dining area and it was g...

We stayed at the Orion at the beginning of June. It is a wonderful place, myself and my partner are both 25 and we really enjoyed how relaxing it was. The hotel is about 2 minutes walk from the beach, at the beach all sunbeds are free and you get wifi access, plus sunbeds right next to the sea. What is great about the hotel, is even when we came back from the beach at dinner time we still had full choice of what sunbeds we wanted. The pool area is really small but just big enough. Arhun does an excellent job of keeping all his customers happy and could not be more welcoming if he tried. We had lots of laughs with him. The hotel is under new management and from reading past reviews it looks like it has taken a step forward. They have a buffet breakfast which is continental. We had it every day and it is nice, each day there is something a little bit different about breakfast so this was good. Hotel prices are cheap too (compared to the rest of the resort). You must try the BBQ night and the Fish night as both were delicious. We ate at Lava's which is set a little back from the beach but the food and staff were excellent. The manager of the hotel is friendly and welcoming which is nice. The rooms are about the right size with a small balcony, but the pool area/bar is welcoming so there isn't much need to shy away from it.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, it is a quiet resort and it is a little more expensive than other areas of Turkey. However, Bodrum is 3.5TL and 20 minutes away. So we did this a few times, Bodrum is a lot busier and also cheaper. But Bitez is so relaxing and there is no rush to do anything.
We would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: All rooms are pool facing.

This was our second visit to Turkey (previously stayed in Icmeler). We really enjoyed Bitez and the Orion Hotel was excellent.

The hotel is small, with a bar and al fresco dining area for the simple breakfast and a small menu during the day. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax by the pool and drink a couple of cocktails then it's perfect.

The rooms are well kitted out when compared to similar hotels in Turkey and Greece. The shower was very powerful and modern, and the room was clean. The towels were changed daily and sheets every couple of days. Air-con was needed, and 10tl per day. Safe box was 8tl per day. We kept a close eye on our safe box and didn't have any thefts as reported in previous reviews. Hopefully that was just a past occurrence.

The downside of the rooms was that the balcony really wasn't big enough to sit out on. Also the bed started to become a little uncomfortable after a few days. Nothing major though. Also because the hotel is B&B, rather than self-catering, they're pretty strict about you bringing food or drink in, and there aren't fridges in the rooms. Drinks are competitively priced but if you just wanted to eat some crisps by the pool, or drink some duty free on your little balcony, then you'll probably get told off - or more signs around the place will appear!

The hotel is tucked away in Bitez, about 2 mins from the beach and Dolmus/Taxi rank on the main road. If you walk down the main road you'll get to the main 'centre' by the Mosque, where you have a pharmacy, small supermarket, gift shops and cash machine all within a 5 min walk from the hotel.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, in particular Aaron behind the bar. They are obviously still finding their feet a little but they're working hard to establish the place. I think they're taking on a chef and looking to improve the snacks.

As mentioned, breakfast is mainly bread and cold tomatoes, cheese, eggs and jam. Drinks other than hot tea and coffee would improve breakfast.

The pool area wasn't too busy and we always got a sunbed when we wanted one. Fortunately no-one was leaving towels out when we went.

Bitez is a relaxing place to stay and the shingly/sandy beach is great. Most of the beach is managed by the numerous restaurants along the seafront. Sunbeds are free if you buy some drinks or food. We liked Yali Can for the beach, because they had big shades and comfy sunloungers and didn't hassle you at all.

The restaurants tended to get a little samey after a week or so, however you can eat out very well for under 100 lira/£35. A large Efes was about 8tl and cocktails around 15tl. You'll get a bit of hassle from the restaurants in the evening, but nothing too awful. The better restaurants we enjoyed (Kiyi, New Season, Almera) didn't hassle you when you walked past - I guess there's an inverse relationship, and the worse restaurants are more desperate!

Bodrum is easy to get to on the Dolmus (3.5tl) and well recommended if you're in Bitez for a while.

If you're on a Thomson holiday then we found that Orion was right at the end of the Transfer run, and took around 2hrs (not 75mins advertised) after it'd gone through Bitez, Gumbet and got stuck down the narrow roads of Bitez. If I was going again I'd probably book a private transfer, and you'd probably be at your hotel in 45mins. The welcome rep meeting at the Red Dragon is recommended because you get a free lunch and drink, along with the usual hard sale of excursions, and some useful info on the area.

All in all we had a great holiday and would recommend the Orion Hotel.
