We travelled in October which is low season and the place was practically deserted! We were lucky enough to be given one of the apartments facing the sea - some of the apartments are at the top of the hill and, when I say hill, I mean HILL!! Our rental car and one of the taxis we hired to go out at night struggled up the hill in first gear with much smell of burning clutch! Anyway, you need a car as there is nothing apart from a small convenience store within ten minutes walk of the apartments. The upside of this is that the area is blissfully quiet, the sea is clean and beautiful and the sunbeds provided by Aura Residence are probably the best and most comfortable I have ever used.
The sunbathing areas are on pier like structures which stick out into the sea and you can either dive or go down steps to access the sea. There are no rails so this would be a total nightmare if you have small children or non swimmers in your party. For our family group of young adult children it was perfect. The sea was warm and they bought lilos and snorkle gear. The resort has a swimming pool which is immaculately clean, not huge, constant depth of 1.5m. The sea was warmer so we didn`t bother with the pool. There is also a small childrens` paddling pool next to the main pool. Comfy sunbeds round both pools.
There is a cafe between the pools and the sunbathing piers which does very good home made pizza for lunch. Reasonably priced too.
The apartments are newly built I think. Sitting room/kitchen with a/c. Two bedrooms with a/c and a bathroom. There is a washing machine. Granite worktop in the kitchen. Only one armchair and one smallish sofa (white, what a silly colour!) and a coffee table. Not enough furniture for four people really. We moved the table and chairs onto the balcony so we could eat breakfast overlooking the sea. Perfect. Most other people had moved their tables to the balcony as otherwise there was no where to sit outside!
After being checked in, we saw no one until we checked out. Bliss, no sales people trying to sell trips or timeshare!
Best place to eat is Bitez which is about 10 mins in a taxi - £5 for 4 people, cheap. Gumbet is about the same distance but is more for the young/tatoo enhanced/party animal ......... if you get my drift. We are far too staid for that scene nowadays!!!
