My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Grand Newport hotel, and must say for the cost it was an excellent holiday, the hotel interior is very luxuriously fitted out, and the staff are very helpful and extremely attentive, we arrived at approximately midnight, and were checked in and our bags taken to our room within 20 minutes (Thanks Yasemin on reception, and also to the young bell boy, who works extremely hard up and down those stairs all day)), the rooms are down a lot of stairs so be prepared (not so bad going down, quite a trek going up if you have one of the lower rooms like we did) but very spacious with plenty of storage for putting clothes and personal belongings, the bed was massive (actually 2 king size beds together great for stretching out after a hard day around the pool...haha), had a lovely sized balcony with a beautiful sea view as requested, A/C worked fine, and the bathroom was great, plenty of hot water with one of the most powerful showers I have come across. The pool area was very clean, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available (although quite a few umbrellas were broken, but no big problem), and the animation/entertaiment guys were great fun and very friendly, playing some great music throughout the day, organising the darts/water polo etc.....(Hi Erman & Ahmed), there was never a long wait to get served at the pool bar, with plenty of hot and cold drinks available, and friendly staff. The dining area was always very well stocked with decent standard food, although it was a little repetative at times, needs to be a bit more varied, having said that we were the only English couple staying at the hotel with most guests being Turkish, Dutch, or German, so probably catered more for their tastes which is understandable, evening mealtime all of the tables were set out on the terrace area which was lovely, nightly entertainment was also provided and some of the evenings were quite entertaining, especially the 'Turkish Night' with traditional folk dancing (I know sounds a bit old fogie, but it was good), and the belly dancer (Ah!!!! got the guys attention now have I...hahaha) the local bus stops right outside the hotel and at 3 lira for the journey into Bodrum who can complain. Sorry but now for the bad points, the holiday we booked was 'ALL INCLUSIVE' but this is NOT a truly all inclusive holiday, if you require water in the fridge in your room, it is chargeable (Come on guys, water is a basic human requirement), wine with your meal, any imported drinks, use of the pool table are also all chargeable, another down side is the hotel bar closes at 11:00pm, so if you want a late drink you have to either go into town for it, or buy something in the little market next door, my only critisism with regards to staff was that the housekeeping was below par, floors were quite dirty( this was only in our room, the rest of the hotel is kept immaculately clean), and the shower required a good scrub, along with insufficient bed sheets, towels and toilet rolls being re-stocked, but a quick call to reception, and this was all sorted out for us. Well that's it no more bad points, in fact all in all I would say that for the money this is an excellent hotel, with great staff, and we truly enjoyed our stay with you, thank you again to everyone
