“Great hotel”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

I have just returned from a weeks stay with my wife and two kids. Great hotel average location very clean Food could have been better. Staff superb very help full nothing was an issue.
They upgraded us to a suite free as well just a shame I didn't see the review about noise. Make sure you are below the pool level as the noise of the other hotels music is still playing until 5am not good if you want your sleep.

Myself and my partner visited this hotel in June 2013. The hotel was absolutely stunning even if the location wasn't quite so ideal. There is only a short walk to a small beach but this seemed to always be full and since we really go on holiday for a beach it was a shame. However, there is a free bus service that runs to another hotel in the area that has it's own beach. Perhaps due to the time that we travelled we were the only English couple there, the rest seemed to be from Eastern Europe. Though this suited us fine, we tend to be loners on holiday - going only to relax, sun bathe and dunk in the sea. However, the fact that we were the only English couple seemed to attract the animation team. As I mentioned, we really only wanted to flop by the pool and read our books so it did get rather frustrating when we were being bothered every 20 minutes or so to come and play some game.
Based on a tip by another traveller we asked to be put in a room closer to the pool. This was fantastic as it meant we didn't have to hike up and down so many stairs in 30 degree heat. However, a word of warning, if you like to have some peace and quiet in your room then I would recommend putting up with the stairs - being so close to the pool means you can hear the wake up call and loud music that starts from about 8 in the morning.
Despite the over enthusiasm of the animation team and the noise that went on pretty much all day it was a lovely hotel and we had a fab time. The bar staff were lovely and all spoke brilliant English though poked fun a little at my poor attempt at ordering in Turkish. I would recommend a trip to their turkish spa, much cheaper than you would find in the UK and cheaper than the excursion.
There is a rep on site who tries to convince you to book excursions through him, but again, on recommendation from other travellers we went into Bodrum and booked through an agency there - much cheaper. The rep at the hotel leaves you a note on your first day, telling you to meet him at a certain time the following day. We didn't realise this was mandatory and, since we weren't interested in the excursions, we went to explore the area. On returning to the hotel we were ambushed by two hotel staff and the rep asking where we had been and that they had been looking all over for us. The rep then proceeded to start giving us a sales pitch, hushing us when we said we wanted to go and get some lunch. Needless to say, we wouldn't have booked through him anyway.

All in all the hotel was lovely and the break from the norm that we needed. I would highly recommend it if you have kid or are the sort that like hotels to be buzzing and energetic.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the pool if you want to avoid stairs - ask for one further down if you want...

My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Grand Newport hotel, and must say for the cost it was an excellent holiday, the hotel interior is very luxuriously fitted out, and the staff are very helpful and extremely attentive, we arrived at approximately midnight, and were checked in and our bags taken to our room within 20 minutes (Thanks Yasemin on reception, and also to the young bell boy, who works extremely hard up and down those stairs all day)), the rooms are down a lot of stairs so be prepared (not so bad going down, quite a trek going up if you have one of the lower rooms like we did) but very spacious with plenty of storage for putting clothes and personal belongings, the bed was massive (actually 2 king size beds together great for stretching out after a hard day around the pool...haha), had a lovely sized balcony with a beautiful sea view as requested, A/C worked fine, and the bathroom was great, plenty of hot water with one of the most powerful showers I have come across. The pool area was very clean, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available (although quite a few umbrellas were broken, but no big problem), and the animation/entertaiment guys were great fun and very friendly, playing some great music throughout the day, organising the darts/water polo etc.....(Hi Erman & Ahmed), there was never a long wait to get served at the pool bar, with plenty of hot and cold drinks available, and friendly staff. The dining area was always very well stocked with decent standard food, although it was a little repetative at times, needs to be a bit more varied, having said that we were the only English couple staying at the hotel with most guests being Turkish, Dutch, or German, so probably catered more for their tastes which is understandable, evening mealtime all of the tables were set out on the terrace area which was lovely, nightly entertainment was also provided and some of the evenings were quite entertaining, especially the 'Turkish Night' with traditional folk dancing (I know sounds a bit old fogie, but it was good), and the belly dancer (Ah!!!! got the guys attention now have I...hahaha) the local bus stops right outside the hotel and at 3 lira for the journey into Bodrum who can complain. Sorry but now for the bad points, the holiday we booked was 'ALL INCLUSIVE' but this is NOT a truly all inclusive holiday, if you require water in the fridge in your room, it is chargeable (Come on guys, water is a basic human requirement), wine with your meal, any imported drinks, use of the pool table are also all chargeable, another down side is the hotel bar closes at 11:00pm, so if you want a late drink you have to either go into town for it, or buy something in the little market next door, my only critisism with regards to staff was that the housekeeping was below par, floors were quite dirty( this was only in our room, the rest of the hotel is kept immaculately clean), and the shower required a good scrub, along with insufficient bed sheets, towels and toilet rolls being re-stocked, but a quick call to reception, and this was all sorted out for us. Well that's it no more bad points, in fact all in all I would say that for the money this is an excellent hotel, with great staff, and we truly enjoyed our stay with you, thank you again to everyone

Room Tip: If you are not too fit request a room up nearer the pool, as there are a lot of steps up to that lev...

Rooms are more than big enough and extremely clean and the view from our room and the pool was a bonus! We arrived early in the morning and left late at night and both checking in and out at akward times wasnt a problem! Food isnt great, but for all inclusive it was average! Also a lot of steps down to some of the rooms, over 100 to some. Basically what was expected for the price! I found local peoples, including staff, interest in blonde people slightly strange so dont be surprised by the extra attention they receive!

Hotel is beautiful, very friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous veiw from the pool. Excellent managment....really suprised that it isnt a 5* hotel...we enjoyed our stay and would love to come back....one thing you should try is the turkish bath/spa here....amazing...do not go to a public turkish spa it is disgusting and not private at all...whereas the spa in the hotel was very private and intimate and very relaxing....would definitely recommend....5* from me
