I returned from the Eken Resort hotel yesterday. We went from 11 May to 18 May.
4 of us went (2 couples between 19-21)
I am going to give a very honest review here as no hotel is perfect.
We arrived at 5am on Tuesday 12 May after a long journey. Our transfer took approx 35 minutes from the airport and we were very very tired. The first impressions of the hotel is that it was very impressive with an imaculate entrance hall! We were greeted by the reception staff who took us to our rooms (111 & 112) which we requested next to each other. They had made us a sandwich and got us some drinks.
The rooms were fantastic!!!! Where I has normally stayed in a room with a kitchen these were proper hotel rooms with a fridge, double and single bed and bathroom. Plenty of wardrobe space, telly and desk. There was also air conditioning which was free all holiday!
* The only criticism I heard from other guests about the rooms were the three next to the sauna which had damp but anyone who requested to move was moved.
Anyone who has any criticisms about the food are usually people who expect chips and burgers. Breakfast is typical turkish breakfast - pancakes cooked infront of you, omelettes, the most amazing bread which they cook themselves everyday, jams, cereals, eggs and sausages.
Lunch is a chicken dish a meat dish a vegetarian dish and a huge range of salads and eggs.
Tea is a the same as lunch but with a man cooking fresh pasta with a choice of 4 sauces, pizza type breads and there were chips on 2 of the 7 days. There was also always a meatball dish, a different one everyday cooked differently - which you don't have to have!!! Food was always hot and fresh.
There were snacks available throughout the day - chips and burgers, chicken doner meat.
The staff were brilliant - very professional and very friendly and the food manager Mehmet was such a lovely person.
The pool area is really brilliant - there are sunloungers on a terrace above the pool and around the pool which is not small!!!
In the local area there are bars and watersports on the beach front and in gumbet there are loads of shops where the prices are as good as in the market!
All the market stalls and shops accept the euro and the english pound aswell as the lira.
There are also the more lively bars in gumbet aswell as a 24 hour bar.
The hotel provides a turkish bath which is brilliant and costs very small fee. Also there is a hairdresser and they do cut throat shaves and beauty treatments.
I read somewhere that the drinks are watered down and no-one was ever drunk. I can assure you this is NOT true!!! I was drunk everynight and there is no such thing as a measure!!!! I was having to get a vodka and a coke separately as they were just too strong!!!
Overall this is the best all inclusive hotel I have ever been too (We were having a heatwave and it was never below 30 degrees). I am definetley going to go back and if you are going have a wonderful time! By the time we left on 18th the season was in full swing (Aquapark opened on 19th May which we were gutted about but we went bananna boating and jet skiing to make up for it!)
There are people of all ages there and although they play music round the pool it varies between pop, turkish and classical!!!
If you are going have a great time!
