“Excellent Value for Money”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Myself and two friends arrived in the early hours and were greeted by very friendly staff, the hotel is set on the top of the hill overlooking Gumbert which is close enough to be within walking distance to the town and bar street.

For the price the hotel facilities are excellent with pool and evening bars, main dining hall and spa. The hotel is very well maintained and the room facilities although a little basic are excellent. The hotel also offers a professional photography service, although we didn't take advantage of this ourselves a comment from a fellow traveller confirmed this was relativity in-expensive and of exceptional quality.

The entertainment team were always on hand to ensure that everyone was happy especially Christiano (Joey Gumbert).

The hotel caters for all types of travellers from friends, couples and families with children's entertainment poolside every night.

Overall a great experience and we would stay there again with no hesitation.

Myself and my family arrived at sun hill early hours on 31st May. On arrival we was greeted by a young lad who kindly took our suitcases up the steps to the reception desk. The man on the reception was lovely and checked us in pretty fast! When we arrived in the room it was quite small but pleasant.the shower was grata and clean towels and toilet roll was provided each day! as we arrived so early we was all so thirsty and noticed there was no water so we went back to reception to request some and the man behind the desk was more than willing to give us a bottle for free which was fab!
The hotel is high up so great if your looking to see great views and get a cracking tan!!

On our first day we was greeted by the entertainment team who I must say where just brilliant! Christiano and Uga especially! They made us all feel very welcome!! They would get everyone In the hotel involved in the events which took place through out our weeks stay! They really worked hard to make sure everyone had a fab holiday and they sure did that for me and my family! The nights entertainment was just across at the sister hotel the entertainment team would gather everyone together and take us down and the entertainment would go till about 12 then if you wanted a really good drink and dance they would take everyone down In to gumbet night life which was amazing I must add!!! Lots of English music, people and very good aptmosphere! I was suppose to come on a relaxing holiday with my parents but after experiencing the night life this did not happen! The entertainment team would come out with us at night and show us the best places to go! They truly did make my holiday!

Emre the photography was just lovely too!!! Joining in playing games round the pool and offering guests lifts up and down the hill haha which is quite steep but when you get to the top the views are amazing! And you would be soooooo glad you chose to stay at this hotel!

So overall great entertainment team!!!!! They make the hotel! , beautiful views, Great showers, fab night life, chilled days! Would highly recommended I meet some amazing people at this hotel from all over the world! Also the hotel is suitable for all ages I went with my parents on my own and still managed to have a great holiday thanks to everyone at this hotel!! The entertainment team will make sure your holiday is everything and more!

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for a week in early June, we hadn't paid much for the holiday so weren't expecting much of the hotel but we we're pleasantly surprised.

The hotel itself is located at the top of a big hill and so the view from our room was stunning. However, this meant a trek up the hill to get back to the hotel everyday and then up a good few stairs to get to our room. However, the shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife are all only a 5 minute walk down the hill and so there's always something to do.

We were all inclusive and the food was great, there wasn't much choice but there was always something different with plenty of salad, a potato dish and lots of pastas and cold meat. The only poor thing was breakfast, as there wasn't much choice at all and unless your a big fan of boiled eggs there wasn't much else to pick from. There are plenty of restaurants close by that are all very cheap so if this is a real issue then dining out is always an option.

The staff in the restaurant and bars, the entertainment team and the cleaners were all fantastic, really friendly and helpful. A special mention should be made to the family who run the small shop in the hotel who were very lovely and went out their way to help us.The only thing that let the hotel down was the reception staff who spoke very little English and were happy to stand and giggle amongst theirselves while you were trying to explain anything to them. This was a problem considering that you had to ask to try and find out any information that you should really have already been told.

The pool was always clean and also had amazing views, especially from the top of the flume which goes into the pool. There we're always plenty of sun loungers available and parasols, however, these did need 2/3 members of staff to erect.

Overall, this was a great holiday for the price we paid. We were pleasantly surprised at the hotel and it's features, with stunning views and a central location we would absolutely recommend it.

Room Tip: rooms higher up have stunning sea views but aren't highly accessible as there are a lot of stair...

I arrived at the sun hill suites with my girlfriend, both from Ireland, on the 16th of June 2014 and stayed for 7 nights. Upon arrival we noticed that the staff at check in were very slow and did not have much of a grasp on the English language, with it being late at night this was slightly annoying but only very slightly. When they finally processed our details another member of staff helped us to our room and it was then that came across what would turn out to be the only real down point of the hotel... Steps! Now when booking the holiday I had requested a room up high to take advantage of the views however I did expect the hotel to have a lift In place and though we might sound lazy these steps were ridiculously steep and seemed to go on forever. This, along with the long steep hills from the nearest shops and bars to the hotel and the hot sun left us out of breath and with sore legs by the time we got to our rooms.

Moving on to the rooms. They were basic but very clean and had a brilliant shower, self controlled air conditioning which is a life saver and a flat screen tv on the wall with a few news channels in English to keep you up to date with things. The rooms were cleaned and new towels were brought every day by the very pleasant maids and cleaning staff.

I chose to go for all inclusive on this holiday and the food to my surprise was of a high standard.. Again, not much in the way of English/Irish food apart from the hamburgers and chips served daily at the pool area but a huge variety and different types of meals to make for yourself including starters, mains and deserts.I had imagined myself lounging by the pool drinking free cocktails all day at the pool bar with my all inclusive deal however there is actually very little alcohol to choose from. The bar contains one beer pump of local beer named 'perge' which was quite nice and the only other alcohol to chose from was gin and vodka with, sprite, fanta or Pepsi which was fine by me however one really annoying thing about the bar was that they served all drinks in tiny, tiny plastic cups meaning we had to walk back and forth every 10 minutes as there was literally a mouthful in each cup, for this reason I would suggest getting a lounger beside the bar.

The pool itself was a highlight of the hotel, sparklingly clean and large aswell as having brilliant views out over the surrounding railing made it the perfect place to relax. There were comfortable sunbeds and large umbrellas if you wanted protection from the blistering sun. There is also a huge slide the like of which you would find in a water park going in to the actual pool.. Myself and my girlfriend both in our early twenties and perhaps a little bit childish were eager to see if adults aswel as children would use it and to our delight the adults ended up using it as much as the children.. The slide is a very nice touch and something different to what we are used to.

The entertainment team at the hotel were absolutely brilliant, especially Christiano who instantly made us feel welcome on our first day by filling us In on all the events and activities which took place throughout the week. He is a class act, made us laugh all week and brough us out on a bar crawl with the other guests which was great fun. I would also put forward a special mention for the long haired man that worked in the shop and showed up poolside the odd time. We never got to know his name and so obviously we named him ourselves..(Nigel Kensington - Smith) but he was a great character and gave us useful advice throughout. These guys are just working there and having a great time doing it which rubbed off on everyone around them.

One of the young workers in the hotel restaurant got on our nerves a little, he came across rather creepy making noises towards my girlfriend and staring at her quite a lot.. This just seems to be the done thing by a lot of the Turkish men... Creepy.

All in all a lovely hotel with a few minor flaws and again Christiano and that long haired shop keeper will ensure you have a good time.. Get to know those guys and you will have a great stay. Hope this helps.

Kyle

Myself and 3 friends came on a girly holiday and stayed at this hotel for 11 nights. On arrival we were greeted at the reception desk by a young woman who didn't speak very good English. We were then shown to our room, which to our surprise only had 3 beds for 4 people, we then noticed that the sofa was used as a pull out bed. We addressed this to the reception staff, and informed us that we couldn't use the sofa bed as it was broken. They then found everything we were saying to them highly hilarious, even though they couldn't speak very good English, they did not even try to understand what we were saying. About 10 minutes later another member of staff appeared with a pull up bed with a mattress that was literally the same width of a piece of paper, I wouldn't even put my dog on! The next day we had a welcome meeting with our Thomas Cook Rep, who we addressed our problem to and who was very helpful and made sure the problem was seen to straight away. We then returned to our room late afternoon to find that there had been a new bed put up for us. As I went to sit down on the bed in the middle, the whole thing bent in the middle, we then took off the mattress to find that instead of putting the bed up properly, they had just placed the wooden planks on top of each other, instead of slotting them into the right places. So for our entire holiday, one of the girls had to sleep on a mattress on the floor, whilst the two other girls slept in the beds and one of us was left to sleep on the put up bed. The room we were put in was clearly only spacious enough to sleep and fit 3 people, as there were only 3 glasses in the cupboard and only two chairs around the table. There were 2 wardrobes, therefore none of us were able to unpack our suitcases for the entire 11 nights as there just wasn't enough storage space. The food in the restaurant was different every day, and the staff in the restaurant were lovely and friendly. The rooftop pool with the slide was good fun and the animation team were absolutely lovely and friendly and made sure our stay was enjoyable and fun. Overall the location of the hotel is situated in a nice area, even though it is up a hill! with a lovely view of Gumbet Bay and the nightlife is literally a stone throw away. But we were extremely disappointed by the service we received at the hotel by the reception staff, and appalled by the room standard. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone going on holiday in a group, as expect to be disappointed!

We arrived at this hotel on the 3rd June in the early hours of the morning and the reception staff were not very welcoming and were very slow we waited about 30 to 40 mins to be showed to our room which from reception was up about 6/7 flights of stairs, which is not good when you are pretty tierd and have REALLY heavy cases. We were giving a sheet of paper with information of times for meals etc. We noticed late breakfast and thought great as we were not gonna get much sleep this would suit us... got up at 10 for the late breakfast to find out it was just fruit nothing else so yes we had to go out for breakfast, which we done on more than one occasion as even the normal breakfast was very bad. In the room the aircon only lasts for 30 mins and shuts its self off not very helpfull when your sleeping in that heat and the min temp you can set it to is 18. Rooms were very clean, well for the first 3 days they were clean and making designs with our bedsheets and towels, we thought it was lovely even tho the room wasnt getting cleaned untill late late afternoon and then all of a sudden our last 3 days we got no clean room no new towels. Reception staff do not speak english ATALL so trying to get new towel was a difficult task to do once yet we had to do this 3 days in a row. Food in the hotel was not great atall wasnt really much choice one thing good about the food was the soup which we lived off if we ate in the hotel but we just went out for dinner most nights even tho we were all inclusive.

One good thing about this hotel and its partner hotel is the entertainment/animation team Uga, Christiano, Alex and Andy they are honestly the nicest bunch of guys i think ill ever meet. Very friendy and helpfull with everything sorted out some great things to do during the days and also take you out at nights along with doing some small shows of their own which were supperb! If it wasnt for this team i would of hated my week away but just the fact of how good they were made me enjoy it apart from the hotel being poor.

Overall i wouldnt reccomend this hotel to anyone especially if they are british.

Oh and the guys in the turkish bath/Spa were a great laugh even tho they couldnt speak very much english.
