We stayed at Muskebi at the start of Sept, the weather was hot (low to mid 30’s), but not too bad, and there was plenty of shade around the pool., plus a cooling breeze for a few days We paid for air con in our apartment and it was definitely worthwhile doing so.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and following our midday checkout they allowed us back into our apartment to shower after we used the pool, ready for our pick-up at 9pm, at no extra cost. Otherwise, you can pay extra for a late checkout (6pm).

We ate breakfast at the restaurant once, it was perfectly fine but the place always seemed empty and we felt a bit sorry for the chef!

The pool was great - nice and big and very cooling. There were plenty of sunloungers, umbrellas and cushions.

Our apartment was cleaned everyday which was great. The location was also good - if you turn right out of the apartments and walk to the end of the road there’s a beach - the first restaurant on the left there is very good for fresh fish. If you turn right, you can walk all along the beach until you get to Yashi (about 15mins walk) where there are lots of restaurants, and a few bars. We went to Viras twice (the 2nd time because they have us a 10% discount card after our first meal), and the food was very good.

It’s really easy to get around on the dolmus’ - just make sure you tell the driver where you’re going when you get on, especially if you’re travelling back to Muskebi, as there are various routes and sometimes you can miss the stop!

The only drawback was the 'nocturnal noise' - there were quite a few stray dogs in the area (they didn't cause any bother in the restaurants etc), but as soon as 1 started to bark, all the others joined in and it was quite a din! Also, the nearby cockerels crowed at all hours. It disrupted our sleep a number of nights, but if you've got the air con on, it isn't as loud. We mentioned the barking to our rep and she said that she wasn't aware of anyone else saying the same; maybe we're just light sleepers! There’s nothing which the apartment owners could have done to stop it, but if you’re hoping for peace and quiet, you may not always get it!

Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend the apartments for a relaxing break, probably more suited to couples and families rather than groups of friends looking for something a bit more ‘lively’.

We arrived very early in the morning so nothing was open - luckily I'd ordered a welcome pack! This contained five cakes, some tea and coffee sachets and sugar cubes with a litre bottle of water and a tiny carton of milk in the fridge all for the grand sum of £15! The lesson here is don't order welcome packs! Anyway, the guys on reception were very helpful, taking our cases and unlocking the apartment door for us. The apartment was beyond reproach - very clean and well appointed with a lovely spacious balcony overlooking the pool. The pool was lit by underwater lights and with the trees and flowering shrubs all around, looked gorgeous. As it got light, I was finding it harder and harder to restrain my eleven year old son from leaping into the pool. At around 7am I gave in and from then on had a job to get him out! To anyone there at the time, my son was the inflatable croc owner and I apologise! The market behind the apartment was run by two brothers who were lovely people and sold the basics including very tasty bread which we had for breakfast every day, We loved the dolmuses which were so handy and would pick you up anywhere and came in very handy for trips to Kipa (Turkish Tesco!). There is a bar and restaurant onsite but we mostly cooked for ourselves as the local produce was so cheap and so good - the local tomatoes were absolutely delicious and it's a miracle we didn't turn red, we ate so many of them! The nearest beach is called Scala beach but although it was very pretty, it wasn't very big. About a 20 minute walk away along picturesque lanes was Yahsi beach which had a lot of sunbeds and restaurants. We found a lovely place to eat right at the top end by the harbour which did great Turkish food such as kofte and shish kebabs. We also visited Camel beach which had a good beach but nothing else except a cafe and there were no camels! Bitez and Bodrum were definitely worth a visit and the castle at Bodrum was very interesting. All in all, I would heartily recommend these apartments and I hope to go back soon for some more serious chilling in hot sunshine and beautiful surroundings! By the way we nicknamed the barman Mr Cutiepie cos he was and the gardener was Mr Haircut cos he'd had a trim the day after we arrived! Also, if you have a late flight, you can extend your stay in your apartment for a small extra price!

We've just come back from a week at Muskebi and would highly recommend it. We did benefit from being the only visitors there at the time, so had everything to ourselves. The apartment was clean and roomy with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the hills in the distance. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, washing m/c, dishwasher, microwave (no instructions so you need to ask how to use them!), fridge/freezer, iron and board and safe deposit box (£10 per week). There is satellite TV too but we only found 3 English speaking programmes - BBC World News, CNBC (which shows some American shows like CSI and The Simpsons) and another American business prog. The only snag is the adverts which last for 7 minutes!! There is air conditioning in the bedrooms only but luckily we didn't need it, especially as it was £40/week! The weather was great, although we did have storms on two evenings which were entertaining!
The pool bar and restaurant opened every day, although we did feel sorry for them that they didn't have more customers. The restaurant serves good, reasonably priced food but there are many more restaurants on the seafront if you fancy a walk, most selling freshly caught fish amongst other things. It takes about 10 mins to walk to the sea, the better beach is to the right.
The dolmus bus stops right outside and can take you into Ortakent village, Bitez or Bodrum which takes about half an hour and only costs 10 lira (about £5) for 2 adults one way. Our 11 year old daughter seemed to get in everywhere for free! It will also drop you outside the Kipa (Tesco's) supermarket or Metro next door but I would advise getting a taxi back if you have a lot of groceries. There is a small shop next to the apartment complex which sells all the necessary items. The bread is fresh everyday and is lovely!
Would recommend visiting the Castle of St Peter in Bodrum and the day trip to Kos which goes from the harbour everyday. The Mausoleum and the Old Bazaar in Bodrum are also quite interesting too. Haggling in the shops is quite fun once you get the hang of it and you can get some bargains, especially if you pay in sterling. A week is probably not long enough to do everything, especially if you want some chill out time as well which we did.
One tip, make sure you eat first or take food and drink to Bodrum airport on your return journey as the prices there are extortionate. No liquid restriction coming home so you can take bottled water. Another is to try and learn a bit of basic Turkish - it is appreciated!
