Just spent first week of October (2013) at The Seaside in Ortakent and had a great week in somewhat testing conditions for both the hotel and activity staff. We had rain storms, very high winds and chilly temperatures for the majority of the week but all the staff made special efforts to overcome the adverse conditions and make our stay as comfortable and fun filled as possible. This ranged from clearing mountains of seaweed from the launching area ( dumped by a freak on-shore high wind spell) to putting hot soup on both lunchtime and evening menus to warm us up in the cold Northerly winds. Being a Neilson activity holiday the usual excellent array of windsurfing equipment was available, and there were always enough sails of the right size available for the prevailing wind conditions. This was in stark contrast to other Neilson resorts we have been to (mainly Lesvos and Lemnos) where we often found a lack of sails and had to complain in order to get more rigged.
All of the staff at this resort had a 'can do' attitude and this really went a long way to making this an exceptional holiday, especially as the weather conditions were so challenging. The resort is smaller than most other Neilson centres and this helps to make it much more intimate and friendly, with the staff knowing the names of most guests after a couple of days and it makes it easier for the guests to get to know eachother too.
We last came here 5yrs ago and the Hotel has undergone a complete refurbishment since then giving the rooms a much more modern contemorary feel and a great walk-in shower.
In summary highly recommended if you are looking for a water based activity holiday in comfortable surroundings with an intimate feel.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking pool or tennis court.

We are returning guests to the Neilson Seaside Hotel, first visiting in September 2003 and then most years in between. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly with the rooms and communal areas all well maintained and clean. The rooms are basic but nicely decorated and all air conditioned with the only criticism being that the beds were rather on the hard side, although this is of course personal preference. (All 7 members of our party did however make the same comment!).

Food quality was great as usual although at some mealtimes there was very little selection for those that didn't like spicy or heavily peppered food. This did unfortunately spoil some meals, especially when something that didn't appear to be spicy turned out to be very hot.

Bottled water was decent value when bought in 6-packs but bar prices for other drinks and snacks were rather expensive, for example soft drinks costing more than twice that from a small shop down the road. I realise this is often where hotels make their money but I did feel that the prices were a little steep given the prevailing rates elsewhere.

We experienced a few issues on non-inclusive nights when ordering from the a-la-carte menu (not receiving what was ordered or confusion over what should be included) but the quality of the food was generally very good.

As with other Neilson holidays, the activites on offer were great fun and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Seaside Hotel both in terms of the overall holiday experience and in terms of the hotel itself.

Thanks to everyone at the Seaside Hotel for making our holiday such fun!

Spent a week at Neilson's Ortakent Resort in September 2013.

Overall - we had a lovely time.

It isn't the biggest Neilson resort and does have some limitations - such as rooms with barely no views, no gym and a limited beach area.

However - the biggest advantages:

Wind - lots of wind which is great for sailors and windsurfers
Short transfer from airport
Food is great - very good choice
Paddy - the resort manager seemed to be very hands-on and friendly
Attitude of the Turkish staff - they were fantastic - whether they worked as sports instructors, kitchen, bar, reception, cleaners - they were all so helpful, pleasant, friendly - really nice and welcoming bunch of people - they were the real stars of the res

Just loved everything about the hotel. Small enough to feel really familiar and yet big enough to provide all the equipment, staff and varietu you need.
We went with our 2 sons 11 and 13 and we all had a blast.
The staff are just incredible. They have an amazing memory for names and just can't do enough for you. The food is deliciouys.
Can't recommend enough

Travelled for one week with family, having been on several Neilson holidays over the last 5 years or so.
Small hotel appealed, as stayed at larger resorts previously and had received some good feedback from several windsurfing families who had been to Ortakent.
Some of the team were exceptional, JoJo , Semmi, Jordan and Fathi. Kit was pretty good, and wind was cracking as was the food. Kids Club OK, Tag Teams looked to be having a ball.
Rooms average, but incidental really for us as an activity holiday.
Tennis...wouldn't again.
Always put our own kit away as always have...no problem, but at Beach landing area kit was frequently just dumped and not put away by the user or the beach team with any haste. Seemed at odds compared with other resorts.

Felt it was seriously missing some characters in some key places, needed a definite touch of 'Frosty' IMO.

Some good, some below par, so pretty average.
