We stayed in the voyage Torba for a week from 26th May Before going I was a little wary as I am not a particular fan of all inclusive as I have some disappointing experiences. it was my first visit to Turkey and some of the reviews (from last season) on here were a little concerning, Well I am now sold on them thanks to this place. The week just flew past and we enjoyed every minute, I must have come across a dozen people who were returning for their third fourth (and even nineteenth!!!) time, I can see why.
The resort itself is spotless and looks wonderful. It initially looks big but is easy to get around.
We stayed in room 1153 which was next to the aqua slide pool, The room was large enough for what we needed ( although our friends in room 4172 found it a bit tight with themselves and their five and one year old in one bedroom. ) The rooms were spotless, cleaned every day and had a good stock of shower gel, shampoo etc.
The resort was great for our children. My 15year old was over the moon with the wifi ( how times change!) and for my 5yr old there was a choice of pools including the kids pool. aqua slides and ,more, 'normal' pools. The kids club was open most of the day at the kids pool. The staff were brilliant. They were on hand, interacted with the kids well without being intrusive. A big bonus was the kids buffet at the kids pool at midday which served fruit cakes healthy options but also ( and I know this will sound touristy!) but chips, chicken nuggets burgers etc.) As a parent you knew the kids were eating during the day. And they had fridges full off magnums twisters, and kids drinks like boxed juices and milk. ( Obviously I had to 'test' some of the magnums!!)
The food was good. The buffet restaurant had more than enough choice ( however the healthy choice table was a very lonely place ha ha) You would have to be the pickiest of picky to find fault. It catered for all nationalities present and at the end of the day you are in a foreign country, give something new a go! My personal favourite moment was walking in to watch a chef grilling tuna steaks that he had just cut directly from a full tuna! ( But they could invest in a second waffle machine ha ha!)
For lunch were often visited the Italian restaurant that did kebabs, chicken and some pasta. We always got a cheeky bottle of mariachi ( a tequila flavoured larger ) You need to ask for this but it just hits the spot on a sunny afternoon. We visited the Greek Mexican and Turkish a la carte all were good but the food at the Turkish was easily the best. The booking system is a bit bizarre ( ringing spot on 10am) however we were always a party of 8 and apart from some choices being full we had little problem booking and on one occasion when we just couldn't get through customer services ( who were great ) sorted us out.
I also enjoyed the tea bar which was open from 10 till midnight which served several different teas and coffees ( loved the apple tea) and they are going to have a barista style coffee bar installed soon. And the cakes at the patisserie,, whilst they taste different to what they look like they are going to taste like, were lovely ( i'll have one of those, and that one , mm and that one!!)
We visited Bodrum by the dolimus (however you spell it!) bus that stops outside the hotel It is well worth the visit ( It was two or three lira a person) but there is also a few small shops selling souvenirs directly across from the hotel.
The main highlight for me were the staff, I cannot praise the attitude of the staff enough. I seriously wonder what people must be doing to get poor service (as in some previous reviews) Yes we got a couple of drinks orders wrong so we politely told them with a smile, and guess what they returned with the correct order, also with a smile ( there's a clue in there!) I tipped frequently but at the same time only for good service (thus it was frequent) and never actually felt I needed to. The best way I can explain the way we were treat by the staff is that it felt like you were on holiday with friends when you were with the staff, not being waited on. And on one occasion when our friends boy got a small spelk in his foot one of the staff sheref went to his staff accommodation and got his tweezers to get it out!
I would absolutely go back and thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would recommend this resort to all.
Special mention must go to the following staff
Sheref. Simply outstanding. Nothing was a bother ( see above) and was simply a nice person to have met.(and introduced us to mariachi!!)
Nil Our friends young daughter was treat like an absolute princess by her.
Esra She was everywhere doing everything and always with a smile.
We also had contact with the Guest Relation Manager Ahmet Cengelci regarding a late check out. I am nothing but impressed by the service he provided and what he provided for us.
Easily one of the best holidays I have had!
