Reviewed 17 October 2012

We have just returned from a week at club blue dreams which we booked as we were taking my partners ten year old grandson. The hotel was supposed to provide a fair amount of entertainment for children.
However, the animation team were on end of season wind down. They did not come around the pool offering darts, mini football, mini golf, volleyball, waterpolo and more. There were several children in the hotel who were totally bored. I went to reception, who steered me to the customer relations, who was adamant there were only two children staying in the hotel. There were not loads, but realistically all in, I would say between 20 and 30.
The hotel boasted 4 a la carte restaurants, which we didnt manage to get booked into even one of them, as they only run one or maybe two each night.
The flumes were supposed to be operating between ten and twelve, then two until four, but most days at quarter past, one parent had to go up to reception to request they be switched on, but they were always switched off at the advertised time.
Throughout the week, several of the bars had run out of coke, slush, vodka, ice by lunch time.
By the time we left, we were fed up having to go to three different bars sometimes just to get a drink for three people.
Susan the Thomson rep was probably the best rep i have ever had, bending over backwards to try to sort out the lack of entertainment for children, and the a la carte restaurant availability. I saw her often speaking with the hotel management politely suggesting they walk around the pool and round up some children to join in activities which were advertised. Susan also often made an appearance around the pool so people could speak to her without carting their families up to reception.
On a plus side for the hotel, the gym was quite nice, and bottled water was available at all times.
I have been to Turkey about twenty times, and this hotel has put me off going again.

I went here with such high hopes thinking that the negative reviews were left by miserable types that do not enjoy much in life, but I was wrong and find myself having to be negative about this place.

Firstly upon arrival at 1am in the morning, we were made to wait 35 mins while they also checked everyone else in before they could allocate our rooms, which to me is a very backwards and odd way of operating - surely this should have been predetermined? After traveling for many hours and tired, it would have been considerate and professional to not make guests sit around in the reception upon arrival - I spoke to others who were made to wait a full hour, which is unacceptable.

Then we arrived to our room to find there was no balcony as booked, but a small compact room with large glass patio doors. Once we discovered the lay out of the complex, we stayed where we were as the balconies were miniscule anyway and not worth the platform space they were build upon.

The next day we got up optimistically to look around the complex and have breakfast. The scenery and location is beautiful, which raised our spirits and gave us high hopes again and then we went to breakfast.

Here we sat down to be harassed by wasps on a SEVERE scale (I am gobsmacked only 2 more reviews refer to this issue) and it continued every breakfast and lunch throughout. There were a minimum of 3 wasps flying around our heads, foods every meal and they could become aggressive. It got so bad we would run in, eat as much food as quickly as possible and run back out again - we could not relax at meal times.

This sometimes extended to sun lounging times, you would be there trying to relax and 'buzz buzz'. We saw ourselves 4 instances of guests being stung - one of whom had a horrendous reaction to the sting. Make no mistake, these wasps were of the nightmare variety and therefore due to not being able to relax with their frequent attacks pretty much spoiled the holiday.

I also experienced some mild harassment by one of the cocky beach bar boys, with another 'toying' with me, even though I was there with my now fiancee and blatantly not interesting in their awful attempts at charm. It is also crucial I mention the autistic member of staff employed by the complex, whom would drag you about, pretended to beat up my fiancee behind his back, could block your way, pretended to ram us in the pool and tried to pull my finger off with a cake tong.
Now I study mental health and believe in equality to work and luckily I understood he had autism, but this could pose much trouble for other guests without that knowledge. Even knowing what I did, he could still be somewhat of a nuisance.

The positives are: the scenery, cleanliness and facilities. But in the real world this is a 3* complex dressed up with amazing views

I would say the food was average to good, just a shame the environment to eat it was ruined by the killer buzzing machines!

If you go here take an electric insect swatter as you are going to need it!

We were in Club Blue Dreams for a fortnight in June 2012. Firstly, we were delighted with the transfers. I am not a lover of travelling and so was delighted that our transfer was only twenty minutes, and the first drop-off - definitely a bonus for me!! As we were checking in late at night the check in was quick and smooth and we were assisted to our room with our bags. We were also informed that we were in time for the midnight snacks which was a benefit when we were starving after the flight!! The room was modern and clean and had the added touch of flowers on the bed to welcome us. Although the room was basic, the air conditioning was good as was the shower, which are the two most important things to us. We didn't have a sea-view but to be honest, a couple of steps from our bedroom door was the most amazing sea view and the hotel itself is surrounded by great views so this wasn't that important to us.

The first morning we went exploring and also went to the meet and greet with Jane from Thomsons. This was definitely worthwhile doing and helped us find our bearings in such a large hotel. The beach area is definitely the quieter place to go and it is like a dream relaxing on sun loungers with the sea lapping underneath you. The only thing is beware the rocks!! It is definitely safer to enter the sea from the beach rather than going in off the decks as it is harder to see the rocks, but the sea is a welcome break from the hot temperatures!! And with our Irish skin, we definitely needed the break! Although by the end of the fortnight we stayed mostly by the pool to be more in the thick of things like playing water polo and the air rifle.

We couldn't fault the food - it was always hot, fresh and it was a joy to see the chefs freshly cooking pancakes/omelettes in the mornings, pizzas, during lunch and meats at night time. The theme nights were also excellent. There was a great selection of soups, lovely fresh breads, salads, hot foods and of course desserts!! We really enjoyed getting a taste of Turkey and were quite eager to try everything. For the more plain eater there was also plenty of choice.

Probably our favourite part of the holiday was the staff!! We loved the waiters and bar staff (with special note to Yusuf, Romeo, Mert and Patrick!). They made us feel so welcome and wouldn't let you pass them without a wave and a chat. We also became very close with the animation team. At the time we were on holiday it was Hakan, Momo, Nino and Saber, though I am aware some of the team left during the Summer. They really added to our holiday and we are still in touch with them, particularly Nino and Hakan. They were so friendly and welcoming and although we didn't think we were the sort of people to get involved in the entertainment etc, we ended up embracing it by the end of the holiday!

This was our first holiday abroad together as a couple, and we were genuinely gutted to have to return home to cold rainy Ireland! We couldn't recommend this holiday more to people. My partner and I are both very lazy and enjoy the slower pace of life so this was perfect for us. For those who enjoy getting out and about, the dolmus was handy, quick and cheap and brings you straight to the heart of Bodrum. Also the hotel provides nights out to Gumbet, with the provision of a bus and some of the animation team to keep you right for a very reasonable price. It leaves at midnight and returns at around 3am so is great for those looking a night out.

We can honestly say we will happily return to this hotel and could not have asked for a better holiday!

a lovely hotel in beautifully set location, all staff very freindly but animation team are fantastic, only too name two HAKAN and CARMEN made our stay so much more pleasurable, We hope to continue to stay freinds on our return home. our 12 year old son had great time with them as with so many of the other staff members . only downsides to this hotel is the amount of steps and the walk to the top of the hill for any excursions

Not a good start to the holiday - as we arrived at the hotel, there were holiday makers in reception already complaining that they had waited quite a long time to be taken to their rooms.
We were booked into the wrong room, no balcony as paid for - bathroom smelt damp & there was mould on the walls. Compained to the rep on the next morning, who told us to see someone at reception as we did not arrive until the early hours. One other couple just slept on top of their beds as the bedding had not been changed!

Quite a few people (7 couples) had the same experience and had to wait until 1pm the next day to move to new rooms. At the time of booking this holiday, we were told that there was 1 room left so how were all these people moved into different rooms? We were told that this had happened a few times over the past few weeks!
The food was variable but it was luke warm at all times. There was a big problem with wasps at breakfast. Never had this problem before.
On the second evening, we were trying to find a free table in the restaurant & were completely ignored when we tried to get the attention of a waiter.

From the third day, one waiter was very helpful & friendly, he always found a table for us. I think his name was Toucha?

Al la carte restaurant - we did book a table at the Chinese & Italian restaurants. When we arrived, there was no choice, set menu only and the food was again lukewarm. There were 2 cats climbing on the back of diner's chairs which was not very hygienic. The staff just ignored this. This really put us off so we cancelled the Itatalian meal.

The guests were constantly complaining about the loud music around the pool. (even young poeple). You could actually feel the vibration. We tried to sit there but ended up on the beach every time where it was more relaxing. The lift did not work on a couple of occasions

Also, the disco could be heard until about 4am & 5am in the morning from our hotel room, which was quite high up.

The hotel should be changed from a 5 star rating. It looked a bit worn and the outside furniture looked very grubby (soft chairs in the team room & bar area) It could do with sprucing up as the hotel grounds & view were lovely.

We booked 1 excursion - local flavours - which was ok until we went for the included lunch - which seemed to be an excuse to be harassed to buy carpets at the family farm that we visited. This time could have been spent more on the other stops where it did not seem long enough to look around.
Reception & tea area staff & cleaners were friendly, bar staff not so, had to wait a while to be served.
This was the worst holiday that we have ever taken. We have always booked with Thomsons, but will think very carefully whether we will again

Just got back from club blue dreams we stayed between the 23 of september and the 8 october and what a great time we all had,
sometimes its good to check trip advisor for advice re holidays hotels ect.
After checking the site for blue dreams i was slightly apprehensive after reading a couple
of the reviews, but when we got there they were quoshed.
needless to say that the good reviews re blue dreams are true and i can't undrestand
the silly complaints from previous reports. The food was varied and good the staff were friendly and attentive, rooms were ok air con went on the blink but was fixed within half an hour,so on and so on. I could go on and on but what i will say is "if you are thinking of going you will not be dissapointed". A big thank you to all the staff at blue dreams for making our stay a memorable one, love from the taylor family. Hope to see you all very soon.
