Good point is the view across the bay is stunning now to the nitty gritty food is like that of a 3rd world country no selection no variety and if you don't like chicken your stuffed occasional fruit is bruised and 3rd class we stayed in the annex which has good location on the beach accommodation was filthy but new soiled towels arrived daily entertainment was zero if you take children to this place besides the stones beach there is nothing else to do take my advice avoid like the plague lucky the weather was good

We stayed at ACACIA Club Hotel with 4 children for 3 weeks during the high season of August 2013. The hotel was full of Turkish intellectuals from Istanbul and Izmir and the laid-back Dutch, Belgium, German, British, Russian and Polish holiday-makers. Kind of small United Nations. Were given two double rooms with extra child bed in "lower building" (rooms 700-something), garden view. The concrete platform of the beach was just 20 meters away, the sea - emerald blue and amazingly clear (underwater dive showed up to 30 meters all-clear), not deep (1,5 meter at the ladders), so fine for kids. Still watch out for some sharp rocks. There were always sunbeds and "tropical" umbrella tents available. The food was diverse and plentiful. The views of Greek islands and the Bodrum straight were breathtaking. Our special thanks go to the waiters of the Terrace Restaurant who helped a lot with keeping our "thermonuclear" children well fed and comfortable and to the bell boys who professionally handled our huge baggage. We do hope that, God willing, we shall have another opportunity to revisit this hotel some day and see again the friends that we made there among the permanent visitors, like esteemed architect Ali from Izmir. The only minor upgrade efforts required is to renew (patch) the thinned sand on the upper beach, place Watercooler pumps in the corridors, repair the 3 broken Greek statues on the lawn, upgrade the slow Wi-Fi router and to have the reception lady pass the list of wake-up calls to guy next in shift. It would be fine if they put up a sign in Lower Building "Speak softly after 11 p.m.", as the rooms have thin doors. We almost forgot to express a heartfelt gratitude to the Doctor on Duty who professionally treated our 10-year old son's head injury.

This is my second time at club acacia and I can say it was a mistake giving it another chance.

Last time we went it was the end of the season and we put the lack of food variety down to this. Therefore we gave it another chance. Mistake.

If you like chicken and turkey cooked with the same spice every day or meat balls (not even ball shaped) then this is the place for you. To disguise the food they even have the audacity to call it different things every day.

The rooms are not spectacular but for the price and wasn't expecting them to be, but what would expect is a toilet with a seat that didn't keep coming loose of the shower cubicle to have a drainage hole that then spills into the bathroom.

Our room is located 5 mins walk from the main complex and we were shown to it in the dark which involved walking along a main road until we got to the room along dark dangerous roads and I never steps. To the point that my wife tripped on the uneven ground on the 1st night.

My wife has a heart condition and we asked the be moved closer due to this but there was no apathy from the reception staff regarding this. This has been a big safety issue for us.

Finally the health and safety around the pool area is very poor. Once again a wet floor resulted in my wife slipping and banging her head on a bar stool. There was first aid available, however the English of this doctor was not good enough to deal with her injuries and a bar man had to be the interpreter.

Though we were prepared by some negative reviews online about the Hotel Acacia Club in Turgutreis, what we saw upon arrival was much worse: old, shabby, dirty, not tended, unsafe (!) facilities, tasteless food with practical lack of variety and unfriendly, gloomy, irritated staff. The beach leaves to wish for the best: the one next to hotel is with the stairs descending into the water where slimy, slippery stones lay on the bottom and the terraces high enough to fall off, as there is parctically no space to walk along the sunbeds squeezed in there, the one on a distance (not to be walked with small children without being terrified that they will stumble and fall of the cliff on the side of the path) is strayed with garbage, the sunbeds must be 25 years old and filthy, no toilets or changing rooms. To stay there with a child of 5 was unthinkable, so after 24 hours we left for another hotel in Gumbet. The only thing nice about Acacia Club is the sea view, but one cannot eat the sea view, no sleep on it, no shower in it. So, if you want a vacation that your money deserve, choose a different hotel - with potentially less stunning view, but where you will be pampered and fed well and smiled at. P.S. Beaches are bad almost everywhere in Bodrum area, so if you want a nice sand, broad sandy beach go to Marmaris, Antalya or Alanya.

Room Tip: A good room would be in a different hotel.

We have just got back from a visit to Turkey staying at this hotel for two weeks and in all honesty I have never been so pleased to be back home. The good parts of this hotel which is the reasons it has not got a terrible rating are the views you get of Kos and of the Aegean sea also the water sports booth about 5 mins up the beach which is obviously extra to use the rides but very decent prices.

Now the bad...Every day we had to walk from one end to the other as we was in the Anex section might not sound bad but in that heat a few times a day it gets really tedious not to mention the amount of steps to climb but it does get a bit easier after a few days.

Secondly the food I have never been to a place with such a lack of choice on a morning their was no toaster no fried eggs nothing for us British people it was salad fruit and a hard boiled cold egg I think I had breakfast 3 times in two weeks not good. The dinner was primally Turkey and rice in some kind of sauce with salad a few sauces and maybe chips. The tea was every day no joke on this Turkey or Chicken with boiled rice I can not stomach the thought of eating either again for god knows how long it was that bad for the last 3 or 4 days I ordered pizza or got a Mcdonalds which takes a ride in Turgutreis which considering is not that bad when the thought of the hotel food made me feel physically sick and the pool side snacks are not any better theirs no hot dogs no burgers nothing just nasty chapati things which are ok for a day or two but after that the smell alone will make you sick..

Thirdly the bar what a pile of steaming crap for an all inclusive holiday the choice of drinks or should I say the lack of was a disgrace you had a choice of Vodka Beer or gin.The beer is supposed to be Efes but tastes nothing like it so you go on to Vodka but the measurements given you would need 20 just to feel it so the best thing to do is get 2 or 3 without Ice pour them together and get a separate mixer. Most of the bar staff need to cheer up I seen happier faces on the Camels at Camel beach also one likes to try fight everyone another thing that they do to save on the drinks is only have one barman serving drinks no matter what even if the line is big while the others sit and talk not forgetting their till is 10 mins fast so every night it closes at 10.50PM but yet still manages to open dead on 10.00AM after 6 months this adds up to 1 day. When I say the choice of drinks is terrible their is others like Brandy but thats extra when it should not be.

Fourthly the entertainment but again I should say the lack of entertainment the kids have nothing to do really apart from play in the pool which is good as kids love that but come 6.00AM theirs nothing if they did not make friends night time would have been dire for them the best night was the Turkish night thats about it in 14 days. The face painting during the day is supposed to start at 14.00PM until 16.00PM but if she has more than 3 to do your kid has no chance.

All in all my holiday to Turkey was excellent and I will not let this put me off as we did a lot of activities away from the Hotel and loved them all I just will never go back to this Hotel if you paid me also be warned its not for Brits mostly Dutch.

Room Tip: Try not get the Anex side lovely views but a pain to walk every day.

We booked this holiday about 2 weeks before departure, due to this we paid £400 each for a family of 3. If I had paid anymore than this I don't think I would give the hotel 3 stars.

The hotel itself is very dated and does need a bit off money spending on it. The rooms are very basic, but if you aren't wanting to spend too much time in the rooms then this isn't an issue. We were in room 510 which is apparently one of the suits. We had 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), 2 bathrooms (both with shower, toilet and sink) and a little terrace which looked out over the sea. The room came equipped with one hair dryer, 2 TV's, 2 mini fridges and 2 air con units, so was always cool.

The pool area was always clean and there are ample sunbeds (no need to get up early to reserve a bed). The floor around the pool is solid marble and there are no anti-slip mats. Our 5 year old son did slip over and hit his forehead resulting in a nasty lump which lasted for the whole holiday! The pool is all one depth (about 1.5m) and there is a small section of the pool fenced off for children (0.5m).

The beach is right next to the hotel and again has more than enough sunbeds to cater for the number of guest. The sea is lovely and clear, however, rather than sand it is all shingle. On the main beach part there is a bar which is open from 10-6 serving drinks.

The food is very repetitive and although we were only here one week we were very bored of the choice by the end of the week. If you love salad or chicken then you'll be fine but other than that there isn't a lot on offer during the lunch/dinner sessions. From 11 - 4 there are pitta with either cheese or (what I think was) humus on offer as well as pancakes (with the same fillings). At 5pm there are sponge cakes put out which are very popular and we really enjoyed these.

For the children there is not an awful lot going on. There is a kids club which is advertised as running from 2-4pm, however it isn't really a club, it's just face paining and once they have had their face painted there are no other activities on offer. There is a mini-disco from 9-9:30 which our son enjoyed, but there were only ever about 5 or 6 children who attended this and it was not on every night.

The free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby area and is good during the day, however in the evening it doesn't work very well due to the number of guests trying to use it. The password for this is: aaaaaaaa

The hotel is a bus ride away from everything and the little shop inside the hotel was very expensive. The guy tried to charge us 45 lira for 3 ice creams (about £15?!). We went into Turgutreis 3 times in the evenings after dinner and all that was there were a little touristy market place selling counterfeit goods. We also got the bus to the Aqua Park which took about 45 minutes. This was a great day out an only 49 lira per adult and under 6's are free. Opposite the Aqua Park is 'Mid Town' which was a very big shopping centre with many familiar shops including gap and M&S.

Lastly, we booked through Olympic Holidays and Kath who was our rep was brilliant. Great local knowledge and very helpful.

Overall it was okay for the week as all we really wanted was the sun, however I would strongly advise anyone against booking it for any longer as it does get incredibly boring.
