“Poor standards by Thomas Cook”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

Myself and my family stayed for eleven days in August .I must comment on the breakfasts which I thought were a disgrace. All we got was bread a few jams melon tea or coffee or fruit juice. However if you paid 6 lire you could have scrambled eggs on toast .Why should you pay extra when it should be included in the breakfast price? The hotel is very basic and certainty needs a refurbishment . It is situated near shops and beach .I definitely will not be going back next year.
The other complaint is that if you go with Thomas cook which we did we got of the plane to see a rep who handed us our departure time and a bit of info about turkey but the whole holiday they did not visit the hotel once which was disgraceful and we got excursions but no one to book them with except for a number on the wall to ring but we wanted someone to talk to as we had no clue about the area and what dangers there were and then again we got picked up to go home and not once did a rep come with us, we got dropped at the airport and had no clue where to go as there was no rep in sight, we were with 4 other couples and none of us had a clue where to go. Thomas Cook gave us a horrendous service and were very unhelpful.
We had room 232 which was rather small but a great view but the room itself was quite dirty with a shower which was a hole with some curtains which made the bathroom very wet and a keycard holder which fell but it was suitable to get changed and sleep in.
Fahri was very helpful when booking excursions aswll as getting advice from and the 2 young boys work extremely hard doing everything form maintance to breakfast to cleaning. Maids came every day which was great.
On the bright side Turgutreis has a variety of shops and restaurants and staff extremely friendly, I highly recommend Uncles, Hassans place and the Codfather as these serve lovely meals at reasonable prices and there staff will go to whatever measure to make sure your meal is perfect. Beach very good service with sunbeds being 20 lira for 2 and free drinks and the staff at the beach are so very friendly and pleasant.
Saturday market is massive and they do really good deals to get fake clothes and shoes.
Bitez dindrum do extremely good waffles and ice creams.
Dolmus to Bodrum just down the road which is much livelier and more varied shops.
Overall I would recommend Turgutreis for a short break but it is a dying town which the population has decreased but overall had a good holiday and the people made it really good as they were ever so friendly and helpful and would like to thank the beach guys, blondie from uncles and Hassan for excellent meals.
Loads of stray dogs around!
Overall enjoyable holiday apart from the Thomas cook service and run down hotel!

Stayed in this hotel for two weeks in July. I can't believe this hotel has a certificate of excellence...we had to ask for beds and towels changed, beds were only changed once in 13 days and had to go to reception to ask for clean towels after 5 days and 4 days. Smoke alarm hanging open on ceiling with no battery and a strange smell in the breakfast area every morning. Water warm if you were lucky. Owner not very friendly when we arrived he said "This is your home for the next two weeks" thank goodness our standards at home are better than this.

we stayed here 28th july for 1 week just myself and husband. the hotel itself isn't bad got a small pool but was big enough for us. staff very friendly...for the price its ideal for a base. towels changed every other day and bedding changed every other day which I feel should really be every day, the hotel was very clean. we stayed in room 204 which was at the back of the hotel not much of a view. food at the hotel was ok but nothing fancy. hotel is in an excellent spot...straight across from the marina...a lovely park about a 10 min walk to the left...the town centre about 10 mins walk to the right. plenty of shops to look at and lovely restaurants in the marina...along and on the beach. the area itself is stunning and I found was really cheap. I loved the food in la villa(which is on the beach) we ate there while the sun was setting it was beautiful. over all was very impressed as this was our fist self catering holiday as we normally go all inc. enjoyed it that much looking at going next year but with all our family!

We stayed at the Irme Hotel for 2 weeks in July 2014. Our room was spacious, basically furnished but very clean. The beds were really comfy, the shower quite powerful and the air conditioning very cooling after a hot day by the pool, the only disappointing thing was that our balcony was not big enough to sit out on. We ate at the Hotel a couple of times and the food we had was very good. The pool at the Hotel is small, the first week we were there was quite busy but the second week we were the only ones around the pool for a couple of days. What attracted us to this Hotel in the first place was a) the price (we had a great deal from Thomas Cook) and b) the location. The hotel is just across the road from D-Marin, the stylish Marina and there are lovely shops, bars and restaurants there, a lovely stroll through D-Marin and you're in the main square of Turgutreis where you'll find some lovely restaurants (Imge, Cod Fathers and along a bit La Villa). The guys who try and get you to eat in their restaurants are very friendly and we particularly liked Embra and 'Michael Jackson' from La Villa, they are very funny, very accommodating and genuinely nice guys. The weekly market held on Saturdays is situated in the street behind the Hotel, we went and got what we wanted and came out, the hassle is just too much. There is a gorgeous park about 10-15 minutes walk from the Hotel, the views are amazing and I can't recommend a stroll there highly enough. We did a boat trip with Admiral which was great value, the sea was a little choppy the day we went and the crew came around with sea sickness tablets but we were fine, it was really relaxing and very entertaining especially the 16 year old male belly dancer!! We will definitely be returning to the Irme Hotel one day, Turgutreis has everything (and more) you could need for a lovely holiday.

The Irme is a fantastic hotel located opposite the new Marina also near to all the local bars, restaurants and supermarkets.

the rooms are well looked after and include a full bathroom tv and balcony and cleaned each day.
The breakfast at the Irme Is great.
It is Continental style wit tea and coffee and also juice is available also bread and great choice of spreads and jams.

Fhari the manager and Mete the owner will make you feel most welcome. This is My Fourth stay at this hotel but the second with my Fiancee and we are already booed for May 2015.

The kings table is no longer a restaurant but we eat at Hassans and cool breeze ( emi is now at cool breeze).
the kings table however is now King tobacco apo is still there and usually winded the days and evening away at AZO bar
and say Ali sent you.

The other great Bar/ Restaurant to visit is the Tropic Bar it next to the market Helen and her husband will make you feel at home and they hold a quiz night once a week which is not to be missed.

I am a regular Visitor to turgutreis since 2001 and keep returning twice each year
Traveled in May 2014 with Thomas Cook Holidays.

Room Tip: 314 is the best room but also 204 is good too

Location - its a bit of a walk to town so if you have walking difficulties its not ideal.

Management and staff - Fahri was pleasant and so was the guy who owned Jessie the pug, the bar staff couldn't speak English but I can't speak Turkish but we managed to get by to order a drink.

Bar - OVER PRICED!!!!

Hotel in general - typical Turkish b&b - basic and tiny pool.

Rooms and cleaning - first impression was clean and basic which was fine as it was a base to sleep and get showered, it stated in the room that the towels were changed every 3 days and bedding every 4 - this was where the cleaning problem is - THEY WERE CHANGED ONCE IN 11 DAYS!!!!

Would I stay again - no to put it bluntly as I prefer to be closer to town and like my bedding and towels changed more than once in 11 days
