Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

This was our family third visit to this resort in six years. It is a great family resort.

There are numerous activities for adults and kids hosted by the entertainment team.

The food was great and the room was nice for the Select Rooms.

The view of the Aegean Sea during sunset is unforgettable.

This hotel has seen its glory days but is still able to deliver a great holiday experience. The three absolute best things with this hotel were the beach location with its piers, the restaurant with great Turkish food and absolute superb scenery and finally the staff that tried their absolute best to help you with any issues you may have encountered. Another thing that really appealed me were also that this hotel were not that large like other all incl. resorts which limited the amount of people in the bars, restaurants and pools.

What were less good were the kids club which did not exist compared to other resorts that I have visited. Tennis court were said to be broken, but where was it?? I could not find any??

Room cleaning were not really great but still, my room was clean but toilette paper were not filled mini bar were not filled and shower cream were not filled.

All the bars could need a upgrade they were not really that nice but they still delivered what they were supposed to.

If you take it for what it is and just relax I can recommend this hotel, I had a great vacation here, my kids loved it even if I did not got the relieve from a kids club that I expected to get.

Room Tip: Allways book room on third floor facing pool or ocean or upper floor in select building

After reading reviews on here we were a little wary of the resort, there were a few niggles but nothing that spoilt our holiday.
The hotel....it looks like a warehouse, not very cosy, and loads of empty spaces,im presuming in the peak times these are packed out with tables and chairs..
The pool is ok water never looked very clean and again in august i think it will be packed as its very small for the size of the place..
sun Loungers were always available, basically you put your towel on then and flipped the chair over showing it was took, again there were not many out ,but enough, but come august don't think there will be!
The food...i had a big problem with the morning hot stuff,as nothing was labeled,so everyone was lifting the metal lids up to see what was in them ,which meant everything got cold quick, either get there when it opens or go outside where the chef cooked omelettes to order or you can do toasted sarnis.
Dinner and snack time in the restaurant was good, loads of choice and all labeled, even though cauliflower was labeled as broccoli one day lol
There was also snack by the pool, burgers, chicken nuggets, chips, salad then at 4 cakes which were very yummy..
There was always chicken nuggets and chips at dinner,so even the fussiest of eaters were ok,there was also a microwave in the restaurant so if the food wasent hot enough you could heat it up a bit more
at 11.30 to 12,30 there was soup and past with sauce, which was lovely,we turned up at 12 so managed to try this on first day..
Entertainment...the animation team were great,at 10 am everyday you got a wake up call and a morning warm up dance, they leave you at lunch so you get a peace full few hours, then about 3 they do water arobics then have a fun game, one of which i did,i had to stand on a surfboard and do a turkish dance......but i fell straight in the pool!!hubby had two games of fun darts with 8 others and won both of them and got given a certificate in the evening which was a nice touch, ,the evening entertainment was always good and at the end they did a club dance which every one did
The hotel was tatty in places, there we holes in the paving, our Bannister on our balcony was broke and our air conditioning wasent working properly and took a week to get it fixed,i would say its a 3/4 star, not a uk 5...spoke to ppl in the new part and they said its not worth paying the extra, they had a separate pool at the front of there room, but didnt get sunlight on it till 2pm!!!
The jettys are lovely to spend the day on,beach is shingly to get in then ok,if you come out of the hotel and turn left, walk all the way along the seafront,it takes you about 10 mins and your at the harbor and shops...you will get hassled to go in there bars/shops.restaurants,be prepared, but can highly recommend uncles restaurant, friendly staff and amazing food, then come out of there cross the street and go into azos bar, again friendly staff,i ended up doing dances on the street with them...
One down full is there are a lot of rude Russians there who don't believe in queing and try and push in..they were put in there places most of the time....
amazing sunsets,relaxing resort...
Oh one thing...the beds are really hard, but we did get used to them...

We have stayed here twice before, two years on the trot about 5 or 6 years ago, both times I had an amazing time, unfortunately since we have not been able to get flights at the right time so have been unable to go back. When my dad discovered this year that we could, he booked; almost without hesitation. I then noticed that the hotel had changed hands and warily checked some reviews to discover that the food had gone downhill.

I have to say, we didn't really agree this, but the layout of the restaurant wasnt as good, due to the queues on both sides of an aisle that is not really wide enough. Cleanliness was also quite a big issue with dirty plates being the regular; however the waiters were on the hole very nice and always there to help.

Another problem we found was the fact that our keys continued to stop working so we found ourselves having to go down to reception to get them renewed. We also found that they cleaned our room rather late, as in at about 5-5:30 and occasionally later. There was also a problem with our towels, in that they didn't give us enough and one day none, so we had to once again go to reception to sort it out.

During the day the animation team were amazing, with activities for most of the day, beginning with morning gym and carrying on with french boules, darts, air-gun shooting, aqua aerobics, pool games, water-polo, beach volleyball, more darts, archery and ending with step aerobics. There is also mini-club most of the day. When the animation team aren't busy running the activities or doing dance practice, they are chatting to guests and appear to be having fun themselves. One problem was that there was not much for 12-15 year olds other than "teenage club" which happened twice a day and was run by Coco.

In the evening the fun continues with the animation team there to greet you at dinner, and then sit with you whilst you have drinks at the poolbar before the mini disco and shows which are varied and really good. After that there is normally a disco or a trip out to Bodrum with the animation team once again!

The other thing was that the animation team did change quite a bit... whilst we were there the only people who stayed the whole time were Katty (the entertainment manager), Romeo (Sound and Light Manager), Recep (mini-club and dj), Eddie who is just amazingly funny, Jacob and Edward, both of whom are amazing characters and we loved them all and I miss them a lot!

Unfortunately, about 2 hours before we left I got injured playing waterpolo, but everyone was amazing, most of the animation team came to check on me and quite a few guests too. It was insisted upon that I went and saw the doctor, who said I should go to hospital, but we didnt have time! It was nice to see that the animation cared a lot to come and check on me and make sure I was okay (:

Overall the hotel was good, but there were a few things that could be improved upon; however in my opinion the animation team (particularly Eddie, Edward and Jacob) make up for the shortfalls of the hotel!

This was the third year in a row going to Aegean dream.Food was better this year than past 2 yrs. Staff excellent,No water sports that was the main difference.
The hotel is now 60% owned by a Russian company so a few very rude Russians who dont seem to know how to queue or say thank you.
Tipping changed now tip individuals and not tip boxes.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ. HONEST REVIEW.
So my partner & I booked this hotel back in January & were thoroughly excited to stay here for 2 weeks.
When we first arrived at the hotel we noticed the lack of organisation and the staff were not helpful with check in at all. When we checked in the woman who tried to check us in could not understand English at all, so we had to wait to be passed on to some one else. After being passed on to someone else, we found out that our names were not even on the database for check in, we had completely different names and a different email address. After we had finally managed to check in we were told to wait for a bell boy, which unfortunately after about 15 minutes of waiting, did not arrive. The man at reception kindly took a bag up to our room for us. We were given a lovely room, a double room (we only paid for a twin room) with a sea/garden/ pool view (which we also did not pay for). There are no complaints about the room, it was lovely, the shower did occasionally leak and a tap broke in the bathroom, but we were happy with the room.
We then went for a drink in the pool bar but were turned away due to the fact we wasn't wearing a wrist band, the reception had forgotten to give these to us. After going back to reception, their excuse was that they had a busy morning, which unfortunately does not excuse the lack of organisation for just two people.
Unfortunately the disappointment did not stop there. The food is exactly the same every day, only occasionally is there a change. Breakfast is the same, no variety at all. We paid for all inclusive and the food was disastrous, a let down. The food was not covered which led to the food being covered in flies and cold. The hotel advertise a late breakfast from 10-10.30 but pack food away at 10. Often dirty plates and cutlery. Often had to wipe off lipstick stains on the glass.
The staff in the restaurant started off lovely, pouring water for us, asking if we wanted drinks and taking away our plates. After about 2 days this stopped. We had to ask for water as they didn't put water bottles out, we had to ask for glasses to pour water in to. We had to go to the bar ourselves and ask for the drinks. We also had to ask for cutlery as they had none out. Then the staff could not be bothered to clear our table leaving us with plates stacked up, and often we had to take our plates to the cart ourself.
Bar staff in the pool bar are rude and lie to you. PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU ORDER COCKTAILS THEY WILL TRY TO CHARGE YOU, but tell them if they can make it with their local stuff they can not charge you, make sure you keep on at them or they will try to cheat you out of your money saying they are not allowed to make them with their stuff or that they take too long to make, this is a lie. They serve other people before you even if they know you have been queuing and other people push in.
The maids 'clean' the rooms at different times every single day, some times we found they didn't clean our room until gone 6pm. We were given dirty stained towels and sheets. One day we wasn't given any towels at all. We were also given one single bed sheet for a double bed and some times gave us single sheets instead of doubles.

I will say though that without the animation team, this hotel would be a complete let down. The animation team are an absolute credit to the hotel, they made my partner and I feel so welcome and we actually miss them. They run fun activities throughout the day, have a mini kids disco at 9pm and through different shows at 9.30pm. We went out to Bodrum one night on a nightclub on a boat, they made us feel very safe. I can not thank them enough for how much they managed to save our holiday. They will nag on at you a lot, but it is actually a lot more fun to join the games such as darts, air rifle shooting, archery.
Although this is bad review, we managed to enjoy our holiday and not let the hotel ruin it through the things we did, the holiday was what we made it.

Overall, this hotel is not the 4 stars Thomson advertised when we booked with them, and not worth all the money we paid to stay here. But if you do have any complaints make sure you visit Michelle Bain (hotel rep) as she will deal with the complains quickly. She also showed us where to get the best Turkish Delight in town.

I visited Turkey for the first time in July with my girlfriend, who had been to Turkey four times before, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We read a lot of reviews slating the hotel, staff etc. and were quite worried and had quite a few doubts about what to expect when we got there, but we found that the majority was actually nonsense in our opinion.
We were there from the 30th June to the 7th July and we found our stay to be overall, very pleasing!
Granted, the reviews about food had some (minor!) points to them but if you trial and error the food you will eventually find something which you can enjoy - plus it's not as if you're limited for choice, there is a huge variety of food to choose from at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Salads, rice, chips, fish, cheeses, chicken, eggs and loads more, if you're into your burgers, chips and chicken nuggets then the snack bar will definitely please you!
It would also be a bit better if the Starlight bar was used a bit more, you get some absolutely stunning views from up there as it is on the third floor and facing the ocean so a beer or cocktail whilst watching the sun set was always a lovely thing, but the majority of people tended to stay around the pool bar which was a shame as the Starlight bar seemed much more appealing to me!

The animation team definitely improve the atmosphere around the hotel as well, providing fun activities and games to participate in throughout the day and organising trips to Halikarnas etc. in the evenings. Eazy, Jacob, Eddie, Leo and the rest are a quality bunch of characters and they work very hard throughout the day - even in the evenings they ask to sit with you and they take the time to get to know you and have a laugh with them, which me and my girlfriend thought was lovely!

Turgutreis is a lovely town as well - It provides stunning sunset and ocean views, lovely restaurants such as Cool Breeze and Uncles, Azo's bar was a good laugh as well! The marketplace and marina are only a short walk away from the hotel too, about 10-15 minutes or so. Really nice place to go, you will obviously get pestered to go in to shops and on boat trips but just shake your head and they'll more than likely leave you alone.

We really enjoyed our stay here, particularly as I had nothing to compare it to in Turkey so I went in with a pretty optimistic mind-set and I was very pleased overall with the holiday. Granted, since talking to a couple we met over there who had visited regularly and talking to a few of the guys that worked in Cool Breeze and Uncles, that the hotel has slipped in recent weeks to how it was before as I think that is down to new management or something like that. It is definitely not the 5* hotel we were promised when we booked the holiday in January and we wouldn't return to the hotel again as we'd like to try elsewhere but overall we really enjoyed our holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the third floor as you would be able to enjoy a quality view of the sun setting ov...
