“good value hotel”
Reviewed 30 October 2010

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend from 25th - 9th october. The hotel was good value for money, it was not what i would call 4 star probably more a 3 star hotel, the rooms were spacious and had a safe and a hairdryer but no iron, we had a balcony to sit out on which was nice, however the rooms werent cleaned that well and if you like nice soft towels take your own as the hotels have seen better days. I was told that the bathrooms are going to get a makeover which i hope sorts out the hot water problem, i managed only once to get a hot bath, the rest of the time the hot water was luke warm and you are better off having a shower. The hotel has two pools which were kept very clean by the pool guy who worked nonstop cleaning around the pools, and a small childs pool, and one small indoor pool, and it has plenty of sun beds , you can go across the road to the hotel beach which also has sun beds and a bar, but the beach wasnt very golden and was gritty and small, each day you could play beach volley if you wished, and there were plenty of fish to feed if you wanted. The hotel had a great animation team who were very friendly as all the staff were and worked very hard to make people join in the activities which were fun, especially in the evenings in there outside ampitheatre. The food was as expected plenty of it but after two weeks got boring as the menu didnt change much, and there wasnt much choice of drinks at the bar, if you like rum bring your own as it dont serve it, the bar offers local beer which hard as we tried couldnt even get a little tipsy on it, vodka, wine, tequilla, raki , cocktails and maybe a whiskey. During the day you could eat from the outside grill which had lovely burgers and pizzas , and in the evenings food would be cooked outside by the pool which was very nice.
The hotel was in a quiet location , there was no where you could wander off to by foot if you wanted a change , you would have to go by bus or taxi, and luckily outside the hotel was a bus stop and a taxi rank , the buses were frequent and cheap. The fare to turgetres was 5 lira each way and took about 15 mins, and 10 lira to bodrum which took about 45 mins, you must go to the markets which is great fun, saturday for turgetres and tuesday for bodrum, prepare to haggle and also take english money or euros as they prefer this to lira and you get better deals . We went on a boat trip which was all day and very good value for money, and a trip to efes which is fantastic but the only gripe i have is that you get taken to a gold shop half way through your journey there, i would much rather have gone straight to efes as its such a huge place and you dont get long enough there only a couple of hours, we spent more time on the coach traveling. Its the same thing with the free trip you are offered to bodrum, you get to see the windmills but get taken to the gold shop as well which sells exspensive stuff. If you get chance visit the castle at Bodrum its very interesting and you get some lovely views of the surrounding area, but dont go on a monday as its shut , in general Bodrum is a nice place to wander round and there are plenty of places to eat and drink in, and you can buy plenty of fake designer goods .
We werent told when we arrived at the airport that you had to pay 10 pounds english money for a visa , another thing when on your return journey try and eat before you go to the airport as its very exspensive , eight pounds for two small coffees in a paper cup .
Going back to the hotel it was fully booked and attracted visitors from poland, russia, holland, germany and a few english people but this didnt bother us as everyone was friendly. On the whole we had a great holiday at the Golden Beach Hotel and would return there .

i stayed at this hotel from 13th september for 2 weeks with my husband and parents. we were all inclusive and i have to say the food was excellent. breakfast included fresh baked bread, eggs, omelettes, cheeses, meats, etc etc. there was something for every taste. lunch and dinner the same. the salad bar is the best i have ever seen in my life!! there was nothing you could have added. good choice every night of hot food and also an outside grill/bbq area serving things like kebabs, and other meats. the presentation was excellent. the deserts were gorgeous.
i work in the travel industry and i would recommend this hotel to anyone.
service in the hotel was excellent. all staff very friendly and welcoming. annimation team were great too. there was entertainment in the upstairs outside area but we made our own entertainment, the hotel was mostly dutch and russian with a few british. you could see that is was popular as it seemed to be fully booked and really busy .
the hotel is about 10 mins from turgutreis and about5 turkish lre on the dolmus.
prices in turkey have really gone up we noticed, so all inclusive is a good option.
a glass of wine in town was about 7 or 8 lire. a beer around 6 lire.
the hotel has a small beach opposite. you have to cross the road to get to it, but they even employ a young boy to see you safely across!!
there is a snack bar just before the road where you can get turjish pizza and burgers etc.
if i had one tiny criticism it wouldbe to say thay the pool bar can het busy and there only seems to ever be one lad serving. also the beach bar across the road only serves soft drinks and no alcohol.
the lads doing the boat trips were great..adam and nezzy. we had 2 fab days out with them..very entertaining.
beware of bodrum airport on the return..... 5 pounds for a soft drink. take you own food and have a drink before you go through..ie your own water. they take it off you as you go through.

We spent 1 excellent and relaxing week in Golden Beach. It is not the Ritz but you get what you pay for, Food is excellent and various, Pool very clean, Staff allways make you very welcome. The pool bar was good and the animation team was ok. The beach is not so golden and is very small. A lot of Russian dudes. Personally I enjoy daily water polo game in the pool with Mr crazy Pascha.
Pro's: good facilities in the resort, good food, friendly staff, excellent pool.
Con's: the location, the room, the beach

My wife Linda & I visited the Golden Beach Hotel June/July 2010. From the very start everything was most impressive, the entrance, the gardens, room, pool area, dinning areas etc. Everywhere is spotlessly clean with staff constently cleaning and the bed sheets were changed every day. Plus the sea was cleaned with nets to remove any small parts of litter. The food was very good and catered for everybody (but no 'full english' breakfast, however on arrival we were the only English at the hotel) Also the staff could not do enough for the guests, nothing was a problem and they worked such long hours BUT were always cheerful. A special thanks must go to Ayse Yasar as she was always running around helping guest with a smile and always so happy & friendly and ofcourse how can I not mention Cuma he is a credit to the hotel (he is such a friendly & helpful man). I attach pictures of both these lovely members of staff. A great spectacle was 'the bar fire show' where they literally set fire to the pool bar and the bar staff juggle with Molotov Cocktails. (no health & safety issues in Turkey) We hope to return. The only two dissapointinting things were that there were no pool towels thus we were obliged to purchase two plus it was much further from Turgutreis than we expected and it was E9.00 each way by taxi or E1.50 on the bus. All in all we had a wonderful holiday.
