We had a great time at yelken. Very nice room with seaview. Friendly staff everywhere, special thanks to Faruk for taking care of all transfers to everywhere and the cute, profesional dutch girl at PR desk. Food & drinks all day in every corner. And I have to mention the 3 pools, space for every one. Go and see for yourself how great this hotel is.

Dear Guest,

We would like to inform you with proud that the hotel has been taken over by the Grand Park Hotels which are part of the Corendon Hotels & Resorts Group.

Meanwhile, we are working hard to restore and renew the accommodation. In addition, the staff is prepped with customer care and service trainings which will be proceeded throughout the whole winter so we can start the season with a complete different Grand Park- approach.

Our aim is to be the place where everyone feels at home and therefore we are highly appreciating that you shared your experiences. This ensures that we can optimize our product and service quality.

Our doors will be opened in the summer season of 2017 and perhaps we can convince you to welcome you in our new hotel.

Sincerely,

Grand Park Bodrum

Location in the middle of nowhere.
Large and clean rooms.
!!BEWARE - air condition only switched on for a few hours a day - half of the night the room resembled a sauna!!

Good and plentiful food, however boring and always the same.
The so called Italian "a la carte" restaurant in reality served a fixed menu: salad with slices of cold roasted chicken, chicken soup, and a choice of either roast chicken or chicken with spinach.... Overpriced local wines.

We have just returned from Turkey (June 2012) and have the following comments:-

- Very clean
- Good selection of food
- Good entertainment (children & adults)

negatives:-
- The hotel is so far out of town, you can't go anywhere not even for walks as it's literally in the middle of nowhere - approx 30 minutes drive from Bodrum centre and though they have a shuttle bus, it cost us £20 each time we went (family of 4)

- the hotel is too expensive. The spa treatments are more than what you'd pay in England and the water sports are over priced too (their cheaper in bodrum centre)

- i agree with the other reviews that the customer service is not good. The staff are not interested and in 7 days didnt see any of the reception staff smile!

Arrived home last week after a fortnight's stay at the Yelken. We were quite a large party - 6 adults and 2 kids in 3 rooms. On arrival the hotel looks lovely - it is very impressive, particularly when all lit up at night. There are 3 pools, the main one had a small baby splash pool, and some slightly shallower areas around the steps. Other than that, the pool was quite deep, so not brilliant for young kids, and non-swimmers. There were also no handrails down the quite steep steps, so this made it very difficult to get in and out of, if, like my mum, your aren't brilliantly steady on your feet. This pool was our only option, though, as the adult's pool had only ladders to get in and out, and she would never have made it in and out of there, and the 3rd pool had waterslides. Other issues with the pool area include the noise - from 10am when the animation started up it got so loud that it was difficult to hold a conversation - and the fact that, as mentioned in other reviews, some guests felt it was unnecessary to clothe their children whilst in and around the pool. Also, Y-fronts appeared a popular choice for the non-Brit men around the pool, as opposed to the usual swimming trunks or shorts!
We had upgraded to a junior suite prior to our arrival, and our room was lovely - a gorgeous sea view, very big, and decent air conditioning. However, in front of the main pool there is a dance floor which has sunbeds on during the day. When they decided to have a party here of an evening, the noise shook our room, and went on till about 1am. There was no chance of sleeping when it was on. After speaking to the entertainment team after a few disturbed nights, we realised that it was better to cut our losses and downgrade to a deluxe room at the front of the hotel to guarantee us and our 3 year old a good nights sleep for the remainder of the holiday. The hotel gave us another room straight away, although this may have been because we were downgrading.
The dining experience, particularly of an evening, was something to dread! There are not enough tables, or space for the amount of guests queuing at 7.30, and with the sun beating in, it is unbearably hot. However, if you leave it an hour, the choice (crap in the beginning!) is much more limited as the food isn't replenished. Tipping the waiters guaranteed us a table, but the heat and 'feeding frenzy' atmosphere just had to be endured daily. Breakfast and lunch weren't so bad, although on some occasions we we too early for the pasta station at lunchtime, or pancakes in the morning, despite arriving after the opening time. It was very disorganised and there was no happy medium. A more relaxing choice is the a la carte - a lovely view across to the sunset and a very enjoyable dining experience, although there is no choice as to what you are served.
The animation team worked hard, and were very pleasant and friendly, and the kids loved the mini disco. They tried the kids club once, and refused to go back - the staff didn't speak english and couldn't understand them. This was a shame 'cos we had originally booked the hotel for the Thomas Cook kids club which is no longer there. Despite the issues, we actually had a great holiday, but this was due to the fact that we were a family all on holiday together, making the best of it and having a laugh. The gorgeous Turkish weather helped. If you are going here, as my sister said in a previous review, ask for a deluxe room at the side or the front of the hotel to avoid the noise - we were told that the Russian and Polish tour operators were paying the animation team to have open air parties, and it would be every night come high season. I would also recommend eating out of an evening - most of the restaurants in Turgetreis will taxi you there and back for no extra cost - necessary as the hotel is remote and the dolmus stop is a good walk away. Altogether, it is a shame about this hotel - it could be great, but it is unlikely to be. I wouldn't go back or recommend it.

Stayed here for 2 wks with my husband and two children. Children had a great time and we never expressed our complaints in front of them as we were really more concerned about our children enjoying themselves. The concerns i would point out are:-
Room smelled of cat pee/spray as soon as we arrived - informed reception of this so they told me to come back in the morning to see if there were any other rooms available. We had arrived at approx 3 in the morning so i went down straight away at ten the nxt morn as requested and got moved to another room with exactly the same smell although not as bad. They looked at me like i had two heads when i told them this and in disgust told me there were no other rooms i felt like i had no choice but to put up with this. Food was disgusting breakfast was the only thing enjoyable and please be aware that i truly now believe the other review about salmonella - do not take heed of the guest relations reply as omelletes are made to order and believe me you will wait for them while the rude arrogant sneering russians try to shout their orders over your head!! My omellette was very very runny inside which is one of the reasons salmonella is possible to get!! The queues for food and tables are ridiculous there jus is not enough seating in the dining area for the amount of guests. Im goin on here a bit so a few more things to say- two children took the runs in the waterslide pool an were simply washed down and put back in, a dead frog lay at the main pool area right beside the snack bar from one afternoon until the next dried up in the sun, a sanitary pad and dead bird washed up on the beach beside the watersports. A boy of about three wandered around the pool area all day every day completely naked whilst his dad wore the same y-fronts everyday to swim in!! Completely disguisting. The animation team, bar staff and waiters try very hard to make your stay pleasant but i could not stick the rotteb repeatitive food any longer and ate out most of my holiday which totally defeats the purpose of staying all inclusive. The russians and the poles are unable to crack a smile and to be honest they are welcome to this hotel it suits them to the ground!! Will def never be back. If you speak english the kids club dont and theyre not too shy to let you know they dont have a clue what you are on about.

P.s our thomas cook rep david was amazing tried his best to resolve our issues (i do sound like a real moan but i just have never experienced anything like this before!)
Cool breeze is a great place to eat and seamus comes to collect you and bring you back!!

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Yelken Hotel and Spa in Kadikalesi. On arrival, the hotel does look impressive especially at night when it is all lit up. It has 3 outdoor pools, the main pool which is where we spent most of our holiday is where all the animation and pool games take place. It can be very noisy and the music can be very loud so if you prefer a more relaxed time then the quiet pool is around the corner however, it is adults only so we were unable to go as we had kids with us. There is another pool with water slides around the other corner by the ampitheatre. The rooms are nice but the air conditioning is rubbish. It is centrally controlled by the hotel and when we asked we were told it was only on between 5pm and 2am which is very inadequate. We were lucky as we asked and were offered a room with individually controlled air con which was much better. These are the deluxe rooms. My sister upgraded to a junior suite when we booked and these are in the block above the patisserie and overlooking the quiet pool. They are lovely rooms and have a fantastic sea view but she asked to move half way through the holiday because of the noise. There were ocassional parties on the stage in front of the beach while we were there but we were told that in a few weeks all of the entertainment will be there so it will be very noisy. If you have a room with a pool or sea view then don't expect it to be quiet of a night. This is unnecessary as the hotel has a disco in the basement so why the hotel feel the need to do this I don't know. The animation team are great though and are only doing what they are told by the management and they are very friendly. The kids club was a major disappointment though. When we booked they had a Thomas Cook kids club but this has been scrapped and it is just a hotel run one and the kids only went once and hated it, their english is not very good and the kids said all they seemed to do was colouring in so they never went back. They did enjoy the mini disco of a night at 9pm though.
The food was another disappointment. The choice is very limited and the evening dining experiance was awful. The hotel is mainly full of russian and polish people who start queueing to get in to the restaurant at 7.30 when it opens and will push you out of the way to get to the food they want. This resulted in major queues and the dining room was excessively hot of an evening as the sun shines right in. If you leave it until about 8.15 then it is more pleasant but there is not much food left as it is not replenished. The same applies to breakfast and lunch. The hotel should consider 2 sittings at dinner then the problems may ease as the dining room is simply not big enough for the amount of guests. There is a snack bar which opens at 12 til 5 as well but again at 12.00 the queues are very very long. The A La Carte is a nice change though and very relaxed away from the 'feeding time at the zoo' scenario so worth a visit.
The other issue for us was that there are no handrails anywhere in the hotel. There are lots of steps down to the beach, snack bar, toilets etc but none of them have handrails which is quite dangerous and something I think the hotel should look into installing.
As I have said the hotel is mainly full of russian and polish tourists who feel it is acceptable to allow their children to run around the pool area and go into the pool naked whcih is something that I didn't agree with. We did not go to any of the evening entertainment apart from the kids disco so I cannot comment on this.
If you need a taxi or transfer into Bodrum or Turgetreis then speak to Faruk who is based in the reception, he will do you a good deal and is a very nice bloke. Also Ozzy in the shop downstairs is great too and if you are a Thomas Cook customer you will get 10% off.
All in all this could be a great hotel if the problems are resolved but as the hotel has russian owners and a very large russian clientle who seem satisfied with the way it is run sadly I don't think it will be.
If you are travelling their this year then ask for a deluxe room with individually controlled air con at the front or side of the hotel and be prepared to queue for your meals.
Yes we had a good holiday but that was mainly due to great company and great weather, would I go back then it is a definite NO.

Room Tip: Split Air Con and front or side of the hotel, NOT A POOL OR SEA VIEW
