We had read the reviews when we booked this late deal and there were quite a lot of mixed opinions. We phoned before arriving and made sure we got a quiet room. This was lucky as the other two couples on our bus had to be moved because of the noise but the hotel was happy to help. The room was lovley and we could hear and see the sea from the balcony. The service and food was good, burger and chips in the afternoon was a highlight. The pool was gorgeous and the beach was across the road. It's in the heart of the town which makes for some good exploring and shopping. The spa is very good down stairs and I would definitely make time for a Turkish Bath.

Dear Guest,

We would like to inform you with proud that the hotel has been taken over by the Grand Park Hotels which are part of the Corendon Hotels & Resorts Group.

Meanwhile, we are working hard to restore and renew the accommodation. In addition, the staff is prepped with customer care and service trainings which will be proceeded throughout the whole winter so we can start the season with a complete different Grand Park- approach.

Our aim is to be the place where everyone feels at home and therefore we are highly appreciating that you shared your experiences. This ensures that we can optimize our product and service quality.

Our doors will be opened in the summer season of 2017 and perhaps we can convince you to welcome you in our new hotel.

Sincerely,

Grand Park Bodrum

i was dissapointed in this place although the pictures look fabulous, be careful the food is awful and not much variaty of selections, it is definetely a 4 or 5 star hotel, i would rank it as a 3 star ,

was very dissapointed!

even though we had booked a room with a seaview in the main hotel, after reading the reviews we were so worried we had made a big mistake in booking the yelken. So when we arrrived early hours of the morming i was expecting the worse. However to my delight this hotel is excellent we had such a lovley time all the staff were very friendly and helpful, The staff in the resturant couldnt do enough to help and we built up a great rapport with them. the italian al a cart resturant was very good again the service was good and some stunning views over the surrounding area. We spent most of our days on the beach laying in the sun relaxing with a lovely cool breeze coming off the sea. The entertainment kept things livley during the day with activities, and were very good with the children helping put on shows in the evening. The food was good ,there was lots of it our favorite was turkish night, with as you would expect turkish cusine. this hotel is a bit out of the way however if you dont mind walking you can walk along the coast line about 20-25 mins walk to turgutreis town, where you will find all the hussle and bussle of a town. with lots of bars and shops we particular liked the corner pub which was brillant very lively and the staff there was truly great hosts. My husband a great time dancing with the belly dancer. All in all the holiday was brillant the yelken was far better than the reviews and the brochure dosent do it justice We found this hotel to be calming relaxing and excellent value for money. i would recommend this to anyone, however i did see the yelken club which didnt look great, so to expreince this hotel properly do book a room in the main hotel is costs a little extra , however do it its so worth it,

When we arrived we were put in an annexe room, which Thomas Cook said that we might be if main hotel was full. What they did'nt tell us was the annexe rooms were only 1 - 2* not the 4* we had paid for. The room was tiny as was the shower room you could'nt even sit on the loo straight you had to sit to one side as the shower cubicle was in the way! Having said that the staff were very good when we made a complaint, especialy the Thomas Cook rep. They gave us a room in the main hotel which was excellent. large size, sea and pool views, but not until we had spent another night in the 'rabbit hutch' and one night in another hotel. But it all worked out in the end. The food was very good but could have had more variety. Everywhere was very clean and staff friendly.

I booked this holiday for my 25 year old son & myself, to celebrate my 50th Birthday, BEFORE I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor. A few days later I read the reviews & was horrified! However, on arriving at the hotel I couldn't have been more shocked.
The staff were extremely helpful & friendly, the room was fantastic, with amazing views over the landscape in one direction & the sea over the other. Everyone was incredibly helpful, friendly & polite. The amazing array of food at every meal was the best I have ever seen. If anyone says they couldn't find anything they liked to eat then I can't imagine what they would eat normally! The quality of the food was fantastic too & everything cooked to perfection.
When the metal bath plug got stuck I spoke to the cleaner on our landing. She looked & immediately got her Supervisor. She looked & rang the plumber. He came straight away & fixed it. Total time from reporting to the plumber arriving? 4 MINUTES! I challenge anyone in the UK to say that they have ever had such service!
Our room was immaculately cleaned every day & the maid was very helpful & friendly. Also a mention must go to Nurgul in the bar. She was one of the lovliest hotel workers I have ever met. And just to note this ; the hotel had more staff than I have ever seen in a hotel!!!
It says in the adds that you have to pay for towels for the beach or pool. This is incorrect. We got clean, free towels every day.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone if they want a great experience of Turkish hospitality at it's best. The bad reviews that I read on here have maybe had an effect? Because the Yelken we stayed at sounds like a totally different place!

THE BAD BITS: Not many really. I will say that the Disco is far too small (& too hot) for such a large hotel. There is not enough seating in the outside bar area - we ended up sitting on sun loungers a lot of the time. The 'Animation' team's efforts at entertainment at night were awful - so bad that we couldn't stop laughing! With such a big hotel I can't understand why they don't pay different acts with some quality to come in each night??? As the hotel is off the beaten track you were a little stuck with this unless you were prepared to get the bus into Turgutreis (which is about 3 miles away) & a taxi home. In saying that though, there is a bus every 15 minutes from the top of the road, about 5 minutes stroll (& the young men that sell the boat tickets in the hotel, Jonny & Eunas, offered to arrange us free transport whenever we required it! Hows that for service?).
The worst thing was the constant pestering from the Spa staff, trying to get us to book very expensive treatments. Every day I was approached at least twice & he just would not take no for an answer. I don't like to offend, but even I was rude to him in the end, just to make him leave us alone. The treatments are all priced in Euro's, & I felt were way too much. If you go on an All Inclusive holiday you don't take a wad of money to spend on this sort of thing! I could get many of these treatments for less than half the price in the UK.
Well, that's my view finished. I hope it has helped you decide, & if read by the management at the hotel, I'll put money on it that they act accordingly. They fall over themselves to oblige. Please give the Yelken a try. I'm so glad that I did & it is a holiday I will never forget. Thankyou Yelken for a wonderful holiday!

We travelled to the Yelken on the 6th June 2009 for 2 weeks. We arrived early hours of the morning, and were dealt with efficiently. We were shown to our room which was out of this world, a wonderful view of the sea from the front and the side. I had read the reviews and asked for a sea view which is what we got. The food was ok never went hungry although pretty limited, animation team always friendly. Staff in restaurant polite, although in the pool bar they could have been a bit happier. True the English are the minority, lots of Russians, but we went for a rest so didn't take much notice. When booking this holiday ask for the main hotel, do not book the club rooms as they are the
ones everyone's complaining about and book a sea view room, 5310 is lovely. Evening entertainment was poor and the hotel is quite isolated so couldn't walk anywhere. But saying that we had a lovely time and met some nice people which help make the holiday.
If you have booked already don't be put off the place is clean just stay away from the club rooms. It was our first time to Turkey and I loved it I will certainly go back to Turkey again.

Hi, we have just returned from The Yelken, and do not intend returning.
We were in main 5* building,,,, (heeded warnings of the "club rooms".!)

Let downs:
1) Poor air conditioning service, (plus deceipt about its cause?) see below....
2) Dining room struggled at times, running out of key foodstuffs and appearing short of staff to maintain the buffet tables. Only cereals available were Meusli and cornflakes, Shortage of child seats.
3) We appeared to be the only English!.(not the hotels fault!)..Other Brits read tripadvisor!?. Many Turkish/Russian/Poles...all friendly enough

Good points...
Pleasant staff interaction (even when insincere!)
Nice pool
General cleanliness good
Good kids disco in evening

Staff were generally pleasing to interact with, even when addressing the problem of unfunctioning air-con, however the hotel policy on this issue which is apparently either a fundementally inadequate system in the hotel, or (as I believe), they just keep it turned off to save on fuel running costs when they think so. It worked adequately when they chose to turn it on in the peak heat afternoon, but sometimes only for a few hours, then turned it off again. We went to 5 star hotel to be able to enjoy the coolness of our room when sleeping / resting, and enjoy the sun when it was not at it's most intense, and our inability to do that overshadowed the whole trip, as returning to our room,,,, or even the prospect of doing so, was not something to look forward to! The reason I am sceptical of the hotels reported "temporary problems with it", is that when I reported it, even when speaking direct to the manager on day three... the immediate response was.... "a probem in your rooms aircon.... sorry.... I'll talk to someone to get it sorted out"... It later became clear that this was hotel wide..... and not a new problem...I beleive they were just playing for time because most people stayed for just a week and as a few days went by, peoples desire to complain weakens, and they just accept the "status quo".
We fortunately organise a hire car for the week (for little more than the transfers to hotel would otherwise be), so we took trips in the airconditioned car for respite on occasion!

Food... we found the variety quite limiting compared with other 5 star hotels, but this wa sour first Turkey trip.. so that may be a typical Turkey thing.... and we managed to get through the week without starving in the hotel resteraunt!
