Very good in parts. Lovely location and well designed resort split between hotel and attractively placed timeshare apartments on the other side of the Hapimag resort. Generally the food was very good for this type of holiday, though the main evening dining room was soulless and wasps to be seen all over and in the dishes of the salad food bar in the Cha Cha Mexican restaurant. (I have the photos to prove it and the restaurant staff seemed totally unbothered when I pointed it out to them.) To compensate, we dined out a couple of times in Bodrum (attractive, historically interesting, small city) which we really enjoyed. Bodrum is just 30 mins away by a regular and frequent, 1/2 hourly bus service from the resort.
The most disappointing element of the holiday was a 1 day boat trip booked through Mark Warner - we'd assumed the boat would be a traditional style gulet and in the company of say 20 or so people, but when we were dropped at the port we discovered a modern, fairly unattractive boat with already some 50 people sunbathing on the top deck - we were packed in like sardines; smoking was also permitted which made some of the trip quite unpleasant. Moreover, the boat trip had billed some good snorkelling opportunities - an 'aquarium stop' - in reality, the snorkelling was not good.
The Mark Warner staff were generally very good, though, I would have preferred not to have seen a couple of childcare staff, on at least two occasions, more engaged with their mobile phones than with the children in their care; this was happening while they were sitting with children at a table in the play area - I am not remotely suggesting any lapse of health or safety, but simply, that they were not giving the children their full attention.
Two positive notes to finish on: the representative from a local tour/excursions agency, Christine, was extremely knowledgable on the highlights and history of Bodrum. The sailing (and windsurfing) equipment was all in very good condition and the related staff enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable.

The reviews of this resort speak for themselves; it is beautiful; the food is great; there is nothing not to like. However, when I was looking at reviews, there was nothing about the windsurfing, so I thought I would plug that gap for fellow enthusiasts!

The watersports is run by Mark Warner and is an RYA approved centre, so you can do RYA approved courses in windsurfing and dinghy sailing. (This is at extra cost, as RYA courses are not part of the all-inclusive cost of the holiday.) Short intro sessions of a couple of hours are included in the price of the holiday and are fine to get you started. There were also free improver sessions each day.

The focus is clearly on beginners, although I would say that it is not the best place to learn! This always worries me, as people get put off this wonderful sport because they try it on holiday, find it difficult due to the conditions, then never do it again.

A foot from shore you are out of your depth in deep water and the sea bed is rocky, not sandy at the launch spot. The bay faces West and is a deep horse-shoe between high ground; we experienced extremely gusty winds - with shifts of 180 degrees not uncommon and large dead areas. You could be standing in zero wind and then suddenly be back winded by a 40 knot gust! Beyond the headland there was more constant wind, but still with a fair bit of shift, as well as 2m waves. The waves plus the ballistic gusts and lulls made these the most challenging conditions that I have ever windsurfed in. The staff assured us that the winds we experienced were unusual and that mostly, the wind is constant; light in the morning and building in the afternoon. It may be that it was late in the season and it was too cold for sea breezes to outweigh the land breezes, but to me it looked like the steep-sided bay would always lend itself to gusty conditions.

The boards were a bit beaten up but of modern design. There was plenty kit to go round at this quiet time, but if you are more experienced, in peak season, there could be a shortage if you want smaller sizes;

- Starboard boards (Rio beginner boards and Futuras in a size range from 111 - 160L.) Sizes were predominantly large; the smallest were 1 x 111L Futura and 1 x Kode 94L. The footstraps on some of the larger boards had a good swivel on them and could not be tightened up, as the threads on the bolts were shot! The smaller boards were clearly much less used and the footstraps were good.

- The sails were brand new Severnes in a range from 4m to 8.5; some were even on skinny masts, which was great, but they were a bit baggy and unresponsive. We felt that they were not rigged particularly well (short on downhaul and outhaul and a few battens needed tensioning!) but this is not unusual in hire centres, which tend to be light on downhaul because they leave the sails permanently rigged. Harness lines were adjustable, but only up to 28cm! This was a problem as my hubby is 6'6" and usually uses 30-32cm lines. To be fair, one of the lads did go to Bodrum on his day off and brought us a pair of 30cms later in the week, which made coping with 2m waves and 40kts a lot easier! We should have obeyed our packing list and taken our own lines.

There are no wetsuits available and this late in the season (end Sept / Oct) we were really glad that we had taken our shorties. One of the instructors bought himself a shortie while we were there. The sea was still lovely and warm, but the air temperature had gone a bit British and there was a lot of wind chill! Early in the week, however, it was a real joy to be able to launch in just shorts and a rashie.

The watersports staff (all of the other staff!) were lovely and the rescue boat cover was pro-active and brilliant.

We had a wonderful holiday, but were a little disappointed with the windsurfing, mostly due to the conditions. We accept that the wind conditions could have been unusual due to the time of year. In my view, if you want a relaxing holiday in a lovely place with some windsurfing thrown it, this is perfect. If you want a windsurfing holiday with great conditions and kit, however, it may be better to look at a more dedicated windsurfing centre.

And if you are a beginner who has been out and struggled in gusty wind conditions - don't give up!

Just returned from 2 weeks of one of our best holidays and we have travelled extensively all over the world. MW staff so friendly, water sport staff could not do enough to help. Equipment good and lessons appropriate to audience. We didn't take children but watching the staff gently encouraging the small children to try the water sports was wonderful to watch.
Food unexpectedly good, I am a vegan and my partner is well and truly a carnivore, we both feasted with a wide choice of dishes.
Room good, every public place we visited was very clean and well maintained. The resort is situated on a hill but this ensured we were kept active and there are buggies for anyone who needed some support.
We were a little nervous prior to our holiday having read some previous reviews, I think they must either have been at a different resort to this or good friends with any competition.
We would return without a doubt and take our grandchildren next time.

Room Tip: If you don't mind walking up and down the steps any room is good however for small children or e...

I stayed in the hotel side of the resort last week and ı loved it. Rooms were well equipped and very clean. Staff was really professional and they were very heplful if there was a need. We stayed all inclusive and food was amazing, that's why i put couple of pounds at the end of our stay. I would like to thank Mr. İlker Adas for his kindness and great personality during our stay. He and his staff were always there when we had a problem and he fixed it right away. I highly recommend this hotel for all visitors who want to have a perfect holiday in a perfect spot.

My husband and I enjoyed a last minute booking to Sea Garden. It was our first trip to a Mark Warner resort and it exceeded our expectations. Mark Warner staff couldn't be faulted - they were friendly, helpful and professional. We were in block 1 with a sea view and close to the pool, Lagana restaurant and the sea. The room was well equipped, clean and well maintained although the bed we found quite hard. Fresh beach towels were available on demand and there were numerous activities to take part in both in and out of the water should you want to. Unlike a previous review, we had constant electricity, good food and regular access to a bus (Dolmus) to Bodrum should we want it. The Hapimag self catering side of the resort offered water skiing and good beach/pool facilities, although we stayed mostly on the hotel side, having everything we needed. The Sunset bar was a perfect location to enjoy an early evening drink and watch the beautiful sky. I would recommend the twilight gullet trip (additional cost but worth it to watch shooting stars under a cosy blanket). A relaxing and wonderful week away.
My only criticism would be that the dining staff could do with extra help. They worked very hard to clear the tables as quickly as they could but their workload was high and it could take a while to find a clear table during busy times.

This was our fourth holiday in thirteen years at Hapimag Sea Garden. My husband and I stayed for two weeks. This time without our grown up children. It was even more relaxing for body, mind and soul this time, than ever before! We will be back next year to soak up more sun, suntan lotion and claim our sunbeds no later than 9am. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and well equipped, spa and health treatments are great.

We stayed there 4 days and definitely it was not enough. Have not had the chance to try out everything. It has a vas amount of space you can walk and walk, if yiu get bored of the sea and swimming pools on the hotel side you can always go to the village side. Sea was precious, i recommend to get some swim glasses and watch the fish in the sea, swimming with them.
The location was beautiful, food quality pretty good, staff helpful, shuttle buses to the city every half an hour, turkish coffee for free (!!!), huge rooms, huge beds, huge space, hiking trails, well looked after gardens.
Negative points is that wifi is almost inexistent and foods can get a bit boring after a while. Dinner restaurant is not pretty and hav to wait long to get a pretty bad wine.
Overall would definitely go back for the location.
