We stayed here for 3 nights.

I'm guessing we had the smallest room in the place, cause we only paid $2o0/night from a AMEX rate sale. The room had a strange layout, with a useless balcony.
There was not top sheet on the bed.. just a comforter. The mattress was not that comfortable.

But the grounds, pools, beach, and spa of the hotel are all huge, so you frequently feel alone.
One of the best hotel gym's and spa's I've ever used.

The beach area was also huge with amazing views and tons of water activities at your service.
My favorite area was their waterside Dock lounge.

The food and morning breakfast was also very good.

Sadly, It's a little far from town ($40 cab ride), and the airport ($60 cab). Plus the hotel doesn't provide any type of shuttle service.

I have to agree with the other reviews in that the property has excellent amenities. The pool and beach did not disappoint. With that said, the service was severely lacking and prices for food and drinks were astronomical. Our lack of service began immediately. Upon check in the front desk was confirming our reservation details which included a King bed with a view. When we were brought to our room, it was two twin beds. We asked what happened to our king bed, so the brought us to another room that had a view of the roof of the restaurant, no sea view. we were told the hotel was full and to take it or leave it. Coffee at breakfast was difficult to get. We were constantly being told that they were backed up and we would have to wait. We ate at the fish restaurant on the beach where we picked out our meze and our fish from the case they asked us how we wanted it prepared, and needless to say it came very different. When we questioned it we were told this is the only way it comes. That meal included an inexpensive bottle of wine and was 600 TL. A lot of money not to get what you ordered. In addition, we were told reservations were essential, we were one of three tables. Clearly a sign the hotel is not full. Lunch was 55 TL for a burger so we decided to share as we did the next day. On our last night we did not make a reservation at any of the hotel restaurants and as a result they would not let us in except for the buffet. To our disappointment, the same food was being served at the buffet that we paid 600 TL for the night before. The buffet still cost us 400 TL. For the concierge, we were told the only to town was taxi, I see from a previous review that is not true. We also asked for help with ferry reservations which turned into a disaster and we were able to take care of this on our own. So for 3 nights stay, sharing lunches and eating in town one of the three nights, our food and drink tab was the same as the cost of the room for three nights. They have a captive audience, make it difficult to get to town, and charge outrageous rates.

Come on guys the rooms are awful, small and 2 single beds pushed together for our honeymoon? we came from 4 seasons Istanbul which was mind boggling and felt totally let down. great staff great pool area, the rest terrible. no one knew which restaurant was open that night "but you must book one" no one had a copy of all the menu's in the hotel including 3 bars, reception and concierge. smelled musty and damp and felt dated and tired, shouldnt be in your portfolio but keep the staff

Room Tip: You cant s far as i can see we paid for the best and it wasn't worth it

This is a very difficult review to write as there are so many things good about this hotel but also so many things that let it down and certainly do not justify its apparent 5 star status. My wife and I have been fortunate to travel most of the world and stayed at all types of establishments including 1st class hotels so we feel we are well placed to justify our comments. We stayed 7 nights in a deluxe suite with a sea view. We decided to upgrade to this bigger room and got a good end of season deal but none the less it was not cheap. The hotel was not busy and there were hardly any children there.

The Good
The room was really well proportioned with separate bathroom and toilet and at a level that you expect for this money. There was no noise apart from one night when those above us were obviously packing to leave early the following morning and we could here them walking around. We had a nice terrace to sit outside and the bed was comfy. The hotel grounds and views are excellent and the pool and beach complex also excellent. We did not have any problem finding loungers by the pool, albeit it was quiet and the pool attendants were always attentive to helping you move loungers etc. the chill out areas, jacuzzis, indoor pool and gym were also first class. If you want peace and tranquility this is the place. The food at Saigon was unbelievable, truly superb, the rest please read on.

The Bad
There have been many comments on TA about poor service and unfortunately I have to agree with them despite the General Manager's comments about dealing with them. Some staff did not understand English and the time taken for bar service, tea and coffee at breakfast and food service in general was not of a standard associated with a 5 star hotel. the 2 exceptions to this were some of the reception staff and Saigon restaurant. Everyone else was the equivalent of 2 or 3 star hotels at best. For the money being paid for the food and drink (see below) the staff have to improve immensely. Not good enough and there were very few people here, glad I did not go in high season !

The Ugly
This is a resort with nothing else around it and nowhere to just wander out at night or during the day. The hotel management know this and therefore the price of all food and drink and services is scandalously high. I expect in a 5 star hotel to pay a little extra but not to the level of these prices, which when you add the disappointing service in just adds to the problem. I could have afforded the prices but I felt I was being ripped off because they had a captured audience. The meal at Saigon was exceptional but still cost the same as the buffet upstairs which is a standard fayre at most hotels. Nearly 300TL (£100) for 2 for a meal with no alcohol in my opinion is excessive especially when it is standard food. The Manager has commented on TA that duty etc on alcohol is high and they are favourable with other hotels of a similar standing but let me give you an example of some of the others - Sparkling water 22TL, in Bodrum at the no4 restaurant on TA it was 10TL same size and make, nuts from the minbar 45TL! We took the decision to venture into Bodrum after a couple of nights and eat there. - see tips below. This resort in my opinion is taking a liberty with these prices and ripping people off, not what a 5 star hotel should be remembered for but it will in my mind

Tips
Take the local bus into Bodrum it leaves at 00 & 30 each hour and runs until 2 am, it takes 20 mins and picks you up at the hotel. The service is excellent and drops you off in the Main Street in Bodrum. The buses are always busy as is Bodrum itself. The cost is 5TL each one way. Taxi is about 60TL and will take the same time.
We ate in town at some of the TA advised restaurants and had better meals than in the hotel the prices were approx 150TL per couple AND this included alcohol, when you add in the bus fair and other drinks in town a saving of at least 150TL per night.
Buy some provisions in town eg water etc and bring them back, far cheaper
Ask for a kettle and cups so you can have a cup of tea in your room. We bought some apple tea in town and used that. One final tip, if having eggs in the morning cooked in front of you, sunny side up, make sure they are cooked, 2 consecutive days mine weren't,

If you want to stay in an isolated resort this is the place for you, if you want 5 star service go somewhere else for the price, if you do not want to feel "ripped off" or "taken advantage of " plan your evenings out or stay somewhere else. This may be a 5 star hotel in description but not in service or prices, a real disappointment in this regard and when I compare it to other similar resorts around the world it is no where near the same standard.
