“First (but hopefully not last) Visit to Bent Creek lodge”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

We spent a night here in the summer of 2011 and had a wonderful experience. The lodge is very cozy and unique and has a nice view of the woods. It was a little difficult to find, but once we were there we felt right at home. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was HUGE. The balcony is shared, but no one was on it all evening. There is even a little hiking trail in the woods to explore. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We usually don't stay at bed and breakfast because most of the places we've looked in to have a tacky "doll house" feel to them. This is not the case for Bent Creek. Stay here if you are near Asheville!

Room Tip: "The Water Room" is very nice and has a spacious bathroom

We spent three night at Bent Creek Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed them. Jodee and Doug are gracious hosts, which made the visit great. the breakfasts were delicious and so were the restaurants that they recommended.

My wife and I stayed here during the Christmas season. It was a very comfortable, charming bed and breakfast lodge and the hosts were very pleasant.

We enjoyed our short weekend stay. Our only complaint was that we felt like we were so busy that didn't get enough time to stay at the lodge to enjoy it. But we thoroughly enjoyed what time we were able to stay there. The lodge was decorated nicely and we enjoyed relaxing by the cozy fireplace after coming home late one cold evening.

The room was very clean and decorated nicely. We are late sleepers and missed breakfast so I can't comment on that but I can say it smelled good. One thing to note...if you are late sleeepers like us, you might want to get an upstairs room instead of a basement room like us. We were awakened by noise upstairs in the kitchen/dining room but it wasn't a huge problem.

If you want to stay somewhere with a relaxed atmosphere, this is a good place for you.

Room Tip: If you like to sleep late(9:00 or later)...get an upstairs room to avoid nosie from the kitchen/dini...

Fantastic place. This lodge is in a beautiful setting and close to everything FUN...hiking mountain biking, sightseeing, etc. Plenty of relaxing things to do on site also with walking paths, a mountain stream and waterfall, and more. The innkeepers were very welcoming, and let us know about everything out their door. We particularly appreciated the delicious breakfast that accommodated our plant-based (vegan) diet.

Many people have already sung the praises of this lodge and I will agree that it is a lovely inn. I especially enjoyed the cozy fireplace since we arrived during a cold snap. My only small complaint (and I understand that this can depend on personal tastes) is that the breakfasts are downright strange. What happened to traditional French toast, blueberry pancakes, or even an omelette? Instead we ate French toast stuffed with ham and cheese with a horse radish sauce already on the "sandwich." That was served with scrambled eggs and luke warm hash browns, and watermelon. Another day we had this sort of quesadilla filled with scrambled eggs, black beans, corn and cheese - that was accompanied by grits, a large brown looking scone (very dry) and pineapple. When we were leaving the guest innkeeper (who was very nice by the way) was saying how the next morning she was going to make roasted butternut squash with with kale and an egg on top (I'm glad I missed that one!). I love food and consider myself a foodie, but unless you are a professionally trained chef, I don't think experimenting on guests, especially at breakfast is appropriate. My suggestion: if you want to be creative and serve butternut squash/kale or horseradish French toast, then give another option like eggs and toast or oatmeal.

One of our final stops on a late May trip to North Carolina to travel the Blue Ridge Parkway was our stopover at the Bent Creek Lodge. Most of our trip had been not as pleasant as we had hoped because of constant rain but stop at Bent Creek was very enjoyable — even when it was raining. The guest hosts at the B & B were very accommodating and made us feel at home. They were quite familiar with the area and were able to recommend some top rate eating places for the Asheville area. Although close to many attractions, the lodge gave you the peaceful feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere — with no traffic or city noises and a peaceful (and beautiful) country setting. We stayed in the Barn Room and found it to be quite nice. Breakfasts were tasty. If we get to the area again, we plan to stay there.

Room Tip: The Barn Room is located on the ground floor, making it nicely accessible for someone who has mobili...

We recently had occasion to spend the night at Bent Creek Lodge. We hadn't yet had the opportunity to open Xmas presents and we gave my mother a birthday gift that included a trip to the Biltmore Estate. We managed to combine the two, and a very nice dinner, by staying at Bent Creek. We reserved the Barn Room (on the main floor) for my parents, as their mobility would make the stairs up/down a little more difficult. The fact that it was the only room that had its own TV was a bonus for my father (who can't miss a game). My girlfriend and I stayed in the Cherokee room downstairs. Doug and Jodee are gracious hosts and extremely helpful with local knowledge. We spent time in the main room by the fire, enjoying a glass of wine and the company of new friends. We had lunch at Neo Cantina (used to be La Paz) in the Biltmore village before visiting the estate. Dinner was at Rezazz, which will be reviewed elsewhere.
Breakfast at Bent Creek was fresh pancakes, sausage, fruit, yogurt, and coffee. Just what you need to start a cold day. We only spent the one night so I can't comment on other things to do but the lodge is very near to plenty of outdoorsy things to do so I can guarantee we'll be back in the summer to try out other options. Bent Creek Lodge is highly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms have access to the backside decks/terraces. Some rooms have queens instead of kings (chec...
