We stayed at the Pepper Tree Resort in 2002 (Little late on the review). Pepper tree is every bit the condo experience. We had a 2 Bedroom Condo that comfortably slept our 3 y/o and 1 y/o along with my in laws. The room had jetted tubs that were a little loud. It almost sounded like a Jet plane taking off. This was almost 10 years ago. I am sure that there have been updates. There were plenty of places to shop. We cooked our meals in teh room and ate out on occassion. The beach was a walk across the road. nothing too stressful. It was a nice place for a family trip. The kids would point out the Marine Corp Helicopters that were a daily sight. Over all, great place to take a family. The resort did have a playground for the children and you could check out books, games and movies

We traded our RCI timeshare for a 1 bedroom unit in building 15. The unit was very clean and well equipped, but a little on the small side. It was not one of the newer units, but it had recently been updated. The rooms even had nice beach towels. There were 3 of us in our party and when our teenage son pulled out the folding couch, the living room disappeared.

.We were very pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. The resort is very close to the beach and chairs can be rented by the week. But a suggestion would be to buy beach chairs at Walgreens before you cross the bridge. You can then bring them with you where ever you go.

Make sure you go to the Monday morning ifnormation breakfast. We picked up all the information that we needed for the week at that meeting. Kristen in the recreation center was also very helpful. She gave us great directions to Harker's Island and we caught a ferry over to Cape Lookout. The ferry was only $10.00 per person round trip

Shackleford Island was probably the highlight of the trip seeing all the wild horses. We took the Crystal Coast ferry out of Morehead City and were the only group on the boat. They dropped us off right near the horses instead of at the dock.

Lots of great restaurants in Beafort and Morehead City which are very close. I did not like the Food Lion in Atlantic Beach, so we went to the food stores in Morehead City.

We felt very badly watching the pier fall apart on the weather channel during Hurricane Irene. We had only left there 6 days prior.

We would definitely consider going back to Peppertree. It is a very relaxing vacation. and everyone there was so nice.

We were there for 5 days. Had to leave early because of Irene. We ere close to the beach, close to some nice restaurants. Our room was beautiful. Only thing we missed was in room washer and dryer. Laundry on site we had to pay. Will definitely go back, enjoyed our time!

Just got back from spending a week with my family at PepperTree Resort. We were somewhat apprehensive before we went due to the mixed reviews we read; however, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our accomodations. We had a two bedroom unit in bldg. 27 (one of the newer buildings) We did not have any issues with noise, in fact, we didn't hear any outside noise except when someone rolled a cooler or luggage cart down the outside walkway, which was wooden. The unit was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Even provided beach towels! One thing you may want to consider, if you plan on renting their beach chairs and umbrellas, you need to do so the first day you check in. We waited until Monday and were told there weren't any available to rent until Friday. We would have brought ours with us if we had known this would be the case.
We did notice the older buildings at the resort need a face lift. In fact, the resort was in the process of refurbishing the round wooden buildings while we were there. I would imagine these are probably the units which have noise issues as they are quite a bit older than the building we stayed in.
We enjoyed the beach and pool area while we were there; however, we did spend a lot of time away from the resort seeing the historical sights. We visited New Bern, Beaufort, Cape Lookout and Shackleford Island. The highlight of the trip was our trip/tour of Shackleford Island to see the wild horses. We would have enjoyed the beach at Cape Lookout as well, however, we opted not to stay on the island very long because the weather was overcast and high winds.
There are many restaurants to choose from in the area if you want to eat out. The best meal we had all week was at Stringray's in New Bern. It is a small "hole in the wall" restaurant across the street from the historical center. Nothing fancy, but the food was out of this world! Especially their hushpuppies. Their prices are very reasonable, the seafood was fresh (they own the fish market next door) and our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ate here on Sunday and were never able to top the meal anywhere else all week.
All in all it was a great week!

Atlantic Beach is for those of us who still enjoy plenty of room at the beach and relaxation time. This is still a small beachside town with more houses than shopping centers and few chain operations here. Peppertree was very clean, spacious, nicely decorated, and had clean, updated pools, jacuzzi inside the condo and outside, nice sitting area on balcony or patio, and short walk to the soft white sand and ocean.
The pier is well maintained and great for fishing. The aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is an amazing place. I've visited many aquariums across the Southeastern U.S., and this one is a true gem. The sea turtle rescue project is a wonderful program and many babies are there to be viewed up close. Touching the sting rays and skates was a favorite activity for all, adults and children. The resort staff also recommended great local restaurants. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly. Our ghostly experience was in our condo, middle of the night activity in the kitchen, cats meowing in the bathroom, the mattress sinking down on the bed like someone just sat down on it, faucet turning on while someone in the room without anyone turning it on, lights on and off, we were scared at first but the presence didn't feel like it was trying to scare us or evil, just making a presence known, probably sounds crazy to most, but we just couldn't deny that she was there with us. This activity occurred over a four night five day stay, and we were not scared after the first night. Things happened during the day and night, and females appeared to be the main targets. We just decided that it made our stay that much more special and it was all good!

We had a fantastic vacation here. Our 2 bedroom villa was spotless and nicely decorated and pocessed all the amenities you could need. full kitchen, lots of fluffy pima cotten towels. clean beds with extra pillows cases and blankets. Our room had a balcony with a view of the ocean which was all of a 2 minute walk away. Loved the pools, well maintained and large and easy enough to get too and there is a super nicely situated jacuzzi outside by the indoor pool if you don't want to use the one in your bathroom. A quick getaway turned into a dream vacation and we would and have been recommending Peppertree to our friends and family and can't wait to go back again. My only complaint? Need more towel bars in the bathroom:)

My wife and I just returned from a one-week stay at this Festiva run resort. We had a one bedroom condo on the second floor of building C (aka Building 32). Our condo was on the second floor so we had a ocean facing view. The resort is actually 1 block back from the ocean so there are no beachfront buildings. The Peppertree does have a convenient walkway/beach access. Depending on where you are on the property it is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach. There is an indoor pool at this resort which is nice for families with pre-teens but skip it if you are an adult. The outdoor jacuzzi is nice too but someone forgot to tell Peppertree that 112 degrees is too hot for even the seasoned hot tub lover, so it was disappointing we didn't get to use that. The one bedroom unit we were in was comfortably furnished and had a washer/dryer (thumbs up for that). There were plenty of towels available and the bed was comfortable. Peppertree has upgraded the living room TV to a 30 inch flat screen but they left it in the large TV cabinet which the old fat tube TV had previously occupied. This resort should seriously think about replacing that large cabinet with a slender TV table or stand. That would make the living room seem much larger as well as the TV. One thing my wife noticed about our unit was the thin walls. We were woken up one morning by the sound loose change rattling around in the dryer of the unit NEXT to us. I chalk this up to the age of the building itself. However, you have been warned! Beware the thin walls! I also fail to see why resorts continue to put in these super large garden jacuzzi tubs. Now don't get me wrong, I love them. But you basically run out of hot water before these things are even one third filled.
I would like to go back to resort in the summertime to experience the resort in its full operation and talk about the outside amenities. This resort is in an excellent location. Close to the Aquarium, Fort Macon, Beaufort and Morehead City. Go and have fun.

Room Tip: Get a top floor end unit to avoid thin walls!
