“WOW!!”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

How lucky is Amherst to get a primo eatery like Cork's! Great wine bistro! From the warm, inviting decor to the delicious food-Cork's does it all well! Hope to see a few more vegetarian items on the menu in the future. Nice outdoor patio too!

“Great Food and Great Service”
Reviewed 12 February 2012

Although the menu is limited, both of our meals were very good. I will definitely be returning to try different selections. They also have a very good wine list.

“Great Place for Girls' Night”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

Corks is a new establishment in Amherst, bringing a bit of upscale flavor to a downtown full of watering holes. Billing itself as a wine bar, Corks has an impressive wine list and a menu containing small bites, appetizers, salads and entrees, meeting the needs of those looking for a snack or full meal. We've shared the spinach and artichoke flatbread pizza, and it was a nice bite for 2. The poached pear salad with gorgonzola is a great start to the meal, although, being picky, the pear was very, very cold. Corks' macaroni and cheese features homemade gnocchi, bacon and a rich gorgonzola cheese sauce -- order the small portion as it is very rich. The sirloin steak was perfectly prepared. Desserts include cupcakes from local bakeries. The Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcake was the perfect end to the meal.

Reservations are a must. Parking is an issue, but they do offer valet on weekends. Otherwise, be prepared to drive through downtown Amherst several times. The only flaws that I've found are that I wish they offered more wines by the glass and/or the opportunity for tastings at the table. Corks does offer private parties, but they are not currently set up for flights are samples for regular patrons. Also, the food is very rich, and there are not really any lighter options other than salads, which, honestly, are overpriced.

However, Corks is a welcome addition to downtown Amherst. Come hungry, and you'll not be disappointed.
