“Lovely spot with GREAT breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

Spent two nights at this Inn and enjoyed it very much. The room was clean and comfortable with a pleasant little private deck outside. Breakfast is not served until 9 am, so if you are an early bird, it can be a long wait. The food was just wonderful - I have rarely had such a delicious breakfast in a b&b. It was well worth the wait.
We also enjoyed the afternoon cocktail hour where we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine while chatting with the other guests.
Our hostess was cheerful, friendly, and willing to offer recommendations on restaurants in the neighborhood.
The only downside is that the Inn is across the road from the beach, and there is some traffic noise from the road, particularly early in the day as people are heading off to work. Also, there is only a sliver of a view of the ocean from the rooms, even upstairs.

Quality lodgings that accept pets are hard to come by, but Arch Cape is indeed a beautiful place and has a few rooms set aside for those with pets. The building is lovely and looks out across low vegetation to the sea. Rooms are spacious, well-apoiinted, with great beds and a gas fireplace. We were going to be arriving late, so we were given detailed instructions on how to get in and got a friendly greeting and good breakfast in the morning. Other reviewers have noted traffic noise, but on this late October weeknight that was non-existent. Because this was just an overnight stop on a trip north we don't have time to explore the environs or even enjoy the evening glass of wine, which was a shame. It looks like a place where a couple of nights would be well spent.

As we pulled into the driveway of Cape Arch Inn in the soft light of a November afternoon I felt like we were about to step into a fairy tale. The turret, the cedar glowing pink in the gray air, the architectural embellishments—all were enchanting and as inviting as the cottage Hansel and Gretel found in the forest. Kari, whose warmth and ease were welcoming, greeted us. The spiral stairs that led up from the entry spilled into a beautiful living room that led into a small sweet dining room surrounded by windows looking out onto green as only the beach can paint. The tour ended in our room, a beautiful purple space from which we could see the ocean on the other side of the highway.

It wasn’t until we returned to the room after dinner that the enchantment began to slip. The settee next to the bed, the only place big enough for Walt to sit, was coming apart at the seams and shaky. As I was settling in to sleep a strong smell of mildew wafted out of the bathroom and remained with us for our whole stay.

The next morning the coffee promised at 7:30 was not ready. A little thing, but in a place that promotes itself as romantic and carrying you away from the cares of everyday life, and that costs as much as our rooms did, it’s the little things that make the difference. And ultimately it was the little things that stripped away the last vestiges of romance and enchantment we tried so hard to find.

There was a beach view from our bedroom windows. The beach itself could not be heard over the roar of traffic from the highway that was much closer to the inn than the promotional photos led us to believe. The implied seclusion did not mention neighbors so close they could see right into our back windows with little effort.

Our first breakfast was creative and flavorful and mostly well-executed. However, we were not greeted when we sat down, and we were not ever asked how our night had been or if we had any concerns. Our second breakfast, still with no expression of welcome or asking after our comfort, was horrible. Vegetable hash that was unseasoned, raw and cold, served as a bedding for poached eggs with hard yolks and runny whites. When Walt checked us out, and stood waiting for an ancient printer to provide a receipt, he was not asked how our stay was.

If Arch Cape Inn were a standard hotel that offered breakfast it might have been worth the price. But as an establishment that promotes itself as better than a hotel, it misses the mark considerably. And with so many other incredible choices along the Oregon Coast, we won’t be returning.

My husband and I wanted to take a weekend trip to the coast. When looking for a place to stay, the Arch Cape magically came up in our search and we will never regret looking no further. The inn is beautiful and the host Bonnie was extremely knowledgable about the area. She provided excellent tips on "must see" locations and dining recommendations. Our last day, we needed to depart prior to the normal breakfast schedule and she made a point to have a special early breakfast available for us. We thought it would be a simple breakfast, but once again, she surpassed our expectations with a 3 course breakfast!
Wonderful trip, excellent location, fantastic hospitality!

We stayed 5 nights in the Parisian Room and drove along the coast - each day exploring the small towns in the area, as well as the waterfalls east of Portland. Bonnie and staff were very welcoming and friendly. The Inn is charming and beautifully appointed and the breakfasts were delicious - something different every morning. We bombarded Bonnie with questions and tips regarding what to visit, etc. and she was simply amazing - very knowledgeable about the area and its history. We hated to go back to Dallas after such an incredible visit. But we hope to return someday and try another room - they are all very unique and inviting.

We spent one night at the Inn on our way down the coast. It is situated a few miles from downtown Cannon Beach and our room had a peekaboo ocean view. We were greeted warmly during happy hour and enjoyed a glass of wine and some snacks with the other guests as we got settled in. We were shown to our room (Ginger) which was nice although a little tired and worn around the edges. The bathroom area in general was a bit awkward and sink and shower need updating. The innkeeper was quick to help us plan a nice dinner out in Cannon Beach and made a reservation for us - securing an oceanfront table with a spectacular view of Haystack Rock which we really appreciated and enjoyed. Breakfast is a 2-course meal and very very good - served in a pretty room off the living area with views of the forest. Overall it was a good stay, although brief.

Room Tip: There is some road noise so if that bothers you be aware.

We visited the Arch Cape Inn for a wedding, and our group had the entire Inn reserved. Overall, our experience at the Inn was very good. The breakfast and wedding dinner buffet were both very good, and the wine social hours were very enjoyable. Our hosts were very cordial and helpful.

Our room was the Provence room, which is on the bottom floor of the inn, with its own private walkout patio which made for easy access to parking and loading/unloading. The room has a separate living area and bedroom area with a jetted tub. The living area has a small TV in an armoire with a fridge underneath.

The furnishings and fixtures are a little older, some of which adds to the charm, some of which are not desirable. The bathroom sink area is awkward with a strange overhang and a faucet which barely runs. The shower is a nice tiled shower, but no shower curtain or door. The floors in this room are all tile (hard and a little cold, especially on this basement level), with minimal area rugs. The towels were horrendous - they could take the skin right off of you - like sandpaper. It seems that no facility that is built for sleeping (hotel, B&B, etc) makes any effort to provide quality pillows, and the inn is no exception. Our room was on the bottom (basically the basement) floor, so no view of anything except the parking area.

The location of the inn is excellent, close to the bustling tourist town of Cannon Beach, but not so close that it is in the main tourist area. A short walk gets you to the beautiful beach. The inn itself is NOT on the beach, in fact it is across highway 101 from the beach, but it is within walking distance. Don't expect great cell phone reception, but the free Wi-Fi worked well.

Overall, a very nice place to stay. I'm not sure that the value is there for the price, but they try very hard to make the inn and your stay as pleasant as possible.

Room Tip: The upper floors might have ocean views. Our room did not, but it had easy access for loading/unlo...
