“Amazing theater”

Oregon Shakespeare Festival
Certificate of Excellence

Attraction details
Owner description: You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

The plays are varied so that just about everyone can see something they like! We saw the world premiere of "A Wrinkle in Time." Amazing stagecraft.

“Cocoanuts Play at Oregon Shakepeare Festival”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

Outstanding, witty, funny, colorful and almost 3 hours with intermission! We got our monies worth and then some. We chose to sit in the (stage left) 2nd and 3rd row, 7 in our party and had the 3 kids, 10 & 14 year olds in that row and 3 adults and a 16 year old sat in the row behind them. These were the least expensive tickets but I think they were some of the best seats, if you don't have to have a wide view of the whole stage. We could see their facial expressions, watch the interaction between actors, it was almost like being on stage with them. The actors made eye contact with us over and over throughout the performance. They delivered zingers and one liners that had us in tears a few times, laughing so hard. Occasionally, there was a joke that was more mature in nature but it flew over our kids head, thankfully:) But 98% of it was good family fun! We adore these Marx Bro. resident actors from OSF, we saw Animal Crackers two years ago, same actors and it was the best, too. Fabulous! I hope they continue to offer more of these comedic actors!

“International theater quality in an idyllic Oregon community”

Well-run, beautifully furnished, carefully designed, impressive productions from a venerable theatrical institution that has managed to "keep up with the times", sufficient to now comprise some truly remarkable facilities.

“theater as good as anywhere in the world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

Both of the indoor theaters are state of the art and the productions are flawless! It isn't only Shakespeare -- only two of the six plays we saw were Shakespeare and one of the others was a world premier.

“BEST theatre anywhere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

We come to the Shakespeare Festival every year, and it does not disappoint. Last year and this year there have been Marx brother re-makes that are SO MUCH fun!
