We went to the Loft on our last night in Ashland and didn't have to hurry because we saw an afternoon play, so we were relaxed, and ready to love dinner...and we really did. The mussels were cooked in a wonderful Pernod based sauce, and we were plied with bread so we could sop it up after we finished the mussels. We shared all our dishes and the chef split the delicious macaroni and crab casserole into two ramekins and cooked them separately....lovely gesture making a small meal seem large. The waiter was attentive, but not intrusive, and the hostess was charming and helpful.....all in all, a great meal, finished with profiteroles, yummm.

We are not Ashland locals but if we were this establishment would be one of our favorite haunts. This is not a large restaurant, at least you do not get that impression when first seated. Our first encounter was on a rainy and cold night outside. That now offset by a table by a fireplace and presto: your reward is a warm and cozy atmosphere made more so by the low key, low volume conversations carried on at the tables around us. We felt we were amongst friends even though we didn't know a soul in this town. Atmosphere can conquer almost anything but poor food. Here it had no need to do so. The food was well prepared, the service excellent. As the title of this short essay says: “My wife was happy; what more need I say?”

We recently ate here and enjoyed our meal and the outside dining experience. I had chicken breast with bread pudding and my husband had the flank steak. Both dinners were good, not knock your socks off good, but totally fine. We enjoyed sitting with a glass of wine on the outside patio. The service was a little slow but we were in no hurry so it didn't matter. The wait staff were all very friendly which made the evening a nice experience. We would recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back.

We have been eating at the Loft Bistro since they opened a few years ago and the quality of food and service has been superior always. The attention to detail by Jacqueline (owner and excellent host) has been impressive. The menu changes just enough to keep you interested and not too often so you can't get your favorite dish.

Also, they are now expanding to offer a larger bar area, solarium and other wonderful features. Don't miss your opportunity to dine at the Loft Bistro, you will never be disappointed.

This is the third year in a row that we had brunch at the Loft on Mothers Day, and it won't be the last. The chef is so creative: five ways to have eggs Benedict!
