The Ashland Springs Hotel provides visitors to the OSF (Oregon Shakespeare Festival) with easy access to all three theaters: all are within a one-block walk, as are the box office and the Tudor Guild Gift Shop. The hotel, the tallest building in town, is nine stories high, and its rooms are bright and elegantly appointed. During the day, one can sit on an overstuffed sofa or chair in the spacious lobby and read a newspaper, a book or your I-Pad. In the same lobby you can find the helpful, friendly concierge (Gigi), who is chock-full of information about sights and activities in and around Ashland, and is always eager to help visitors. After theatre, on the seond-floor balcony, one can enjoy complimentary snacks (chocolate-chip cookies, popcorn and a spicy nut mix) and refreshments (lemonade or tea.) The hotel's restaurant, Lark's, has good soups and salads as well as meat, fish and vegetarian entrees. One warning: if you want to sample their excellent desserts, go easy on the other courses, or you won't have a chance to appease your sweet tooth.

Room Tip: The single elevator is not "swift," so the lower floors are best for those who'd rather do stairs than wait. The higher floors probably get a bit more sunlight, but since the hotel is not surrounded by any other buildings, and the windows are quite large, all of the rooms seem bright and cheery.

This is a great old hotel, located in downtown Ashland. Convenient to everything, never have to get in your car. Lithia Park is two blocks down the street and an excellent place for a walk through the forest. Shakespeare Festival is right next door, along with lots of great restaurants and shopping.

The Ashland Springs Hotel is such a delight. We've stopped here on our trips to California for many years. We enjoy the restored hotel with it's comfortable linens and beautiful framed nature wall hangings. The breakfast is also a good way to get started on the road again. It is the place to be for anything Shakespeare or outdoors as well as a fantastic small town for window shopping or serious shopping. There is a great variety of places to eat around town.

This is a quaint quality hotel. Even our small Queen Boutique room was very comfortable with the right touches. The location is perfect. We have been trying several times to stay here on our Ashland visits and we finally succeeded. Larks is a great place for dinner. It's attached to the hotel through the lobby.

I want to tip my hat to Donna “ Gigi” LaRossa, the concierge at the Ashland Springs Hotel. While everyone we met in Ashland, from the hotel personnel to our waiters and waitresses to the ushers at the Shakespeare Festival, was charming, friendly and helpful, Gigi really outshone them all. So amazingly concerned and kind and knowledgeable about everything Ashland. She really exemplified the very best of the hospitality industry, and did everything she could to help us make the most out of our stay. The Ashland Hotel is lucky to have such a dedicated professional on their staff, and we are grateful we met her -- she helped us plan our trip and made our stay in Ashland run smoothly (not always easy when traveling with a 91-year-old in a wheelchair). Gigi is a real delight, and I highly
recommend consulting her when staying at the Ashland Hotel.
