The Ashland Food Coop has high prices, people dressed as if it's Halloween, and quite a bit of selection crammed into a compact space. The parking lot is impossibly packed and the aisles are jammed with people gabbing. The prepared food is fairly good, but it is difficult to time it so that you can get a selection that is not down to the last dried-out morsel. There is confusion and long lines at the juice bar and sandwich-making area and there are often six cashiers working with many patrons in each checkout line. The dining area is small and tables are rarely wiped off. Still, the staff is super friendly and helpful and one can find just about anything that's available nationally in the way of organic/healthy food. This is a pretty good food coop for a small town.
