We made a reservation for this bed and breakfast in May for a visit in early July. In mid-June, my chronic back problem necessitated immediate surgery for a herniated disc. This meant we had to cancel our entire Oregon vacation, including the stay in Ashland. I called two weeks prior to the date of our reservation, and was told by the woman who answered their phone that yes, there was a 60-day cancellation policy (by the way, such a policy is extremely unusual), but since this was the busiest season of the year, we would no doubt receive a refund if they could rent the room. Some weeks later, I checked my credit card for a refund, and not seeing one, I decided to call them. I was told by an employee (not the owner) that the books showed that they had received no cancellation notice from me, but he took down my phone number and assured me that the owner would call me. This call never happened. If you are an investment banker or neurosurgeon, losing $165 in deposit may be noise level for you. For us, it is not.
