I'm rather late in writing this review. We stayed here for the Memorial Day weekend in 2013 and had the best time ever. The room (Rosebud) was excellent and spotless. Jon and Carmen are gracious hosts and accommodated our late check-in and lazy last min showing up for breakfast :) They laid out a big and VERY yummy spread for us each morning and took the time to sit down and chat with us, giving us great info about the town. Things in town (theaters, gardens, shopping, dining) were walking distance away and we didn't have to take our car out at all till it was time to leave. We were overwhelmed by their graciousness and hospitality and we wish them well!

Cowslip's Belle proved to be an excellent choice for my family's trip to Ashland for the long Thanksgiving weekend. Anyone who has searched for accomodations in Ashland knows the choices are abundant for a town of it's size. We were specifically looking for a place big enough for the three of us and with a kitchen that would allow us to prepare a small Thankgiving dinner. The Upper Suite we selected was nearly perfect for our needs.

Pros: Room for three/four comfortably, fully-equipped kitchen, nice bathroom and jetted tub, quiet and convenient location.

Cons: Water pressure was low, location of heater made it difficult to heat the whole space evenly (cold in bedroom, warm in kitchen)

I would highly recommend Cowslip's Belle. We will return the next time we are in Ashland.

Room Tip: Upper and Lower Suites are detached from the main house which adds to the privacy. Perfect size for...

We stayed here at the end of Oct a few weeks before the end of the festival. We had the upper suite room as the vacation stay instead of B&B. Room was very clean an nice sized. They had many detailed touches like paper cups in the bathroom and instructions on how much coffee to use in the kitchen which made us feel the owners really care about your enjoyment and taking care of you. While it got pretty chilly at night, the room stay warm enough without even running the heater. I turned on the fireplace one night thinking it would just be nice to see at night, within a few minutes that thing was putting out some serious heat so I know being cozy in the dead of winter here would be no problem.

Nice 3 block walk to the start of downtown so was very convenient. We drove farther through town for breakfast once and walked the rest of the times. The only thing I'd change is the shower had VERY low pressure, which goes with their conservation theme, but made a shower not very pleasant and ironic it's in a HUGE jetted tub that would take a ton of water to use.

It already being the off-season, this room was a steal. I'd certainly do it again for that price.

After a two year hiatus we returned to Cowslip's Belle, our favorite Ashland B&B. We found Jon and Carmen as welcoming and gracious as always. This time we stayed in the rear extension, which provided additional privacy. They are expanding their Vacation Rental options, beyond the traditional B&B. But the breakfasts remain fabulous, with a different principal Item each day (Pecan Waffles, Fluffy Omelets) and fresh fruit and fresh orange juice and marvelous coffee!

With its great location less than 1/2 mile from the Shakespeare Festival and the clean, warm, comfortable atmosphere, this is a place that would be very hard to beat!

The Cowslip's Belle is 0.3 miles from the Shakespeare theaters. We walked to plays, a variety of restaurants, and shopping. Jon and Carmen have a lovely disposition and a lovely inn. The rooms were immaculate and decorated with interesting antiques. I appreciated the eye to conservation with recycling, etc. We stayed in the Carriage House, which allowed us to keep to ourselves for the most part. However, if you so choose, there is a cozy parlor with books and good conversation. The full breakfast far exceeding my expectations.

Room Tip: The carriage house is separate from the main house if you'd like a bit more privacy.

What's not to like about this lovely B&B in Ashland. We were made so welcome despite arriving much earlier than the advertised check-in. Our room was warm and comfortable, and the fabulous bed ensured a great night's sleep. Jon and Carmen are lovely helpful hosts, without being intrusive. We really enjoyed our scrumptious breakfast and chatting with Jon and Carmen and the other guests. We stayed only one night as we were on a tight schedule to get to Seattle but will definitely return and stay for longer on a future trip the the US. And the gardens with Koi ponds are just beautiful - so relaxing. Easy walking distance to the theatres, shops and great restaurants.

Returning to Cowslip's each June, is like going home only better. Home sometimes holds old memories, some not pleasant or have strings attached. Not so with Cowslip's. I look forward to renewing my friendship with Jon & Carmen and guests that I may know from past years. The warmth and TLC that Jon and Carmen extend to all guests, is extraordinary, and add to that the wonderful design and comfort of the rooms and fantastic breakfasts. What more is there to desire. Get ready, Carmen & Jon. as "the group" is descending on you soon.
