“Elegant and Warm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2013

McCall House is one of the three best B&Bs we have stayed in, ever, anywhere. An elegant old lady, this Victorian building is meticulously maintained, but it also warm and comfortable. The living room and parlor are wonderful common rooms to spend some time reading from the magazines and books on hand, as well, in the afternoon, snacking on homemade cookies for tea from the sideboard in the dining room. All baked goods are made from scratch in-house, including the bread in the french toast. So good! Being a baker myself, I was highly impressed with the quality and creativity coming out of that kitchen. The location here is one block from Main Street with its restaurants and shops, and just two blocks from all theaters. During our stay, we met the owner, who lives in Albany New York, and how journeys out here once a year. She met with workmen about the yard, and talked with Nola, the proprietor, about some renovations of the interior, and indeed, the property shows her caring eye. I must mention that my concern for my mother's mobility and the fact that when we booked, only three weeks ahead of our visit, left us with upstairs rooms--Carrie (one of the workers there, in addition to Diane and Karen the baker) said she would talk to the owner and ask her to give up her downstairs room so we could all have first floor rooms. How thoughtful. Thank you, everyone at McCall House, for not only making this stay with you possible, but also wonderful on all accounts.

My wife and I have been staying at McCall House for years, after having spent time at a number of other Ashland B&Bs and Hotels/Motels. We love this place because (1) the facility is elegant, always up-to-date, and has exceptional service, (2) it is very convenient to downtown Ashland and a multitude of good dining places, and (3) it is an easy walk to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

McCall House is an awesome B&B in Ashland, Oregon--home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It's located 1 block from the theaters and Main Street (major, serious shopping and restaurants), and just 2 blocks from wonderful Lithia Park. The accommodations are perfect, comfortable, and beautiful. The breakfast and other treats later in the day are delicious! The staff is super friendly. This one of our favorite B&B's in the world. Don't miss this one if you're going to Ashland. In fact, make it a special trip to Ashland, see some plays, and stay at McCall House. You won't be disappointed with anything.

We have stayed here several times when we come to Ashland for the plays and have always found it to be a wonderful Place to stay. The location on Oak Street, just a block from Main Street and OSF, is incredible! You can walk everywhere! We always stay in the Carriage House at the back and loved the privacy. The food was good, the company at breakfast even better. Nola was indeed a great hostess and always ready to help with directions and suggestions if things to see and do in Ashland. Make your reservations early, though, as some rooms are hard to get.

Room Tip: Go for the upstairs room in the Carriage House!

We stayed 3 nights during the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The property was very clean, the staff was very warm and friendly as well as helpful. The breakfasts were delicious, and as a courtesy fresh baked cookies and sherry was available in the evening. Our first two nights' stays were in a cozy backroom overlooking a patio garden with a Wisteria arbor. The thrist night we upgraded to a larger and more spacious room overlooking the front yard. Beds were very comfortable. There is a bu sline running the next street over, so early mornings were punctuated by bus line noise, which could be problematic for light sleepers. Rooms had no televisions, which was a plus as far as we were concerned. We met many guests some of which had been repeat customers for over 10 years. If you plan to attend the Shakespeare Festival and are lucky enough to get reservations this would be a fantastic place to stay

I wish we had been able to spend more than one night, we will just have to return for another stay! We stayed in the carriage house and just loved our room and the bed was so comfortable. Spotlessly clean and well appointed. Nola was a great hostess, our breakfast was well prepared, and served in the beautiful dining room of this elegant home. Walking distance to everything. I would recommend McCall House without hesitation.

I have stayed at the McCall House twice a year for 4 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The service, food, and ambiance are consistently excellent.
Kudos to Nola and her staff for maintaining quality with a personal touch.
