I'll start off with Allentown is not my favorite place in the world. Having a two day stay, we were VERY happy with Hilton Garden Inn on S Airport Rd. The lobby has pretty much finished its renovation. The front desk staff were cheerful, accomodating, and provided delicious just made cookies in the Doubletree style. The lobby provides adequate comfortable lounge seating, a flat screen tv, complimentary coffee and fruits as well. A small breakfast area provided cooked to order hot breakfasts in the morning for a reasonable price. They complied with all our requests for floor, room type, front facing room - all designed to reduce noise, and it was effective! Room size is fairly large for this class of hotel, tho bathroom tight. Plenty of hot water and shower pressure. King bed very comfortable. Parking a little tight on weekend nights. Didn't use indoor pool or exercise room, but appeared to be higher level than expected at this price range. Can get great discounts at Hilton.com as well as Priceline. Unbelievable, but I may have to be nice to Allentown in the future!

Room Tip: Front of hotel avoids trucking company in back, though unusual wind noises can occur

Average Hilton Garden Inn. Lobby under construction. Mostly clean. Front desk person had a hard time handling my check in as she was continually stopping to answer the phone, essentially placing me on hold each time. That minor and aside, this location has a real issue with noise. Behind the hotel is a truck company. This place has trucks moving around, loading, unloading, banging, shouts, horns, etc. all night. Rather annoying to say the least. Next time I am in Allentown I will probably stay elsewhere. On a positive note, Chess & Checkers restaurant and bar across the parking lot has good food, drinks, atmosphere.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise, don't stay on the backside of the hotel.

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding our property. We appreciate all guest feedback.

You are correct, we are undergoing a lobby renovation at the moment, which will be complete by mid-May.
We apologize for any inconvenience at your check-in process, however, our Guest Service agents are here for all our guests. We appreciate your understanding.

Completely understandable about the trucking company, we are well aware of the noise issues some have experienced and have taken action against the trucking company located behind the hotel. These noises will be subsiding over the next few weeks.

Thanks again for your understanding and feedback.

I've stayed here numerous times over the years but my visit last week was the worst and out of character for this property. I showed up about 10PM and found out my reserved room, a king, were all full and the only thing they had was a double double rm. I'm 6'2" 330 so sleeping in a dbl bed is akin to sleeping on a toddler bed. Anyway other thing, and I never had this previously was that the back of the hotel borders up to a shipping dock so all night long you hear trailers banging and back up beepers on the trucks. A fitful night of sleep at best. Staff did relocate me the next morning to a king room on the front of the building for the remainder of my stay. Their wireless internet signal seems fair at best and download speeds are again fair at best.

The hotel has their lobby and breakfast area under remodel right now (APR 2013) so it's a bit of a mess and depending on the time you arrive or leave the front doors might be locked. The rooms themselves look to be showing their age a bit. not terrible but also not as crisp and clean as other HGI's I've been in.

The only big negative here I feel is the parking situation. the lot is very tight and limited due to the other hotel next door and the Red Robin on the other side.

Room Tip: Ask for front of hotel away from noise of loading docks

Thank you very much for your valued feedback. We greatly appreciate it.

We sincerely apologize for the mix up with King/Double Bed - in some instances we do have guests extend their stay, occupying King rooms that we had initially assigned to other guests. We certainly do try to adhere to each and every guest request as best as we can.

You will be happy to know we are increasing our bandwidth on our internet, thus, our internet will be twice as efficient as it is now, this update will come, May 1st. Not to mention our newly updated/renovated Lobby and business center is in the midst right now!

We continually work with the Trucking Company located behind us and alert them of guest issues as they are brought to our attention, they are in contact with their employee's to be sensitive to the fact that we have guests sleeping throughout there normal work hours.

Thank you once again!

Pretty typical hotel room. Everything was fine. The lobby was being remodelled. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Probably about 20 minutes from anywhere you need to be in Allentown. Didn't eat there but they do serve breakfast.

Room Tip: Not really a scenic area. Trucking company behind building. Shopping and restaurants in front of building.

I am a regular guest at hotels in the Bethlehem/Allentown area and the Hilton Garden is a comfortable stop for my requirements. Always clean, quiet, friendly and all amentities a business traveler needs. As long as the room rate works, I will always try to stay here first when in town.

Room Tip: Back rooms face a trucking company that starts making noise early in the AM.
