Great spot for a sandwich. Order chicken salad not crab cake. Wine pours are small. The bar is the spot forget the tables.

My husband, son and I were the only 3 customers at 9:00 on a weeknight. We had to track down the waitress for drink refills. Burger was served before the salad. Fries were spilled on the bar by the server and not replaced. Pendant light over the bar was probably stunning at one time but is now falling apart. Too bad. It could be such a great stop.

we had a very bad meal at Plate in Ardmore. The drinks were expensive and bad. all ice and no liquid in the glass and poorly made (Manhattan and martini). we should have known better as at 6:30 pm the place was empty.

the service at dinner was amateurish. 2 young boys came out to try to serve our main course while our appetizer plates were still at our places. that would have been overlooked had they not tried to serve our main dishes a second time while only 2 of the plates had been cleared. they had never been trained.

I had the recommended brisket. the brisket came out looking like it was sliced for a sandwhich and the sauce was steaming hot and the meat cold. it was clearly a reheat from a refrigerator. the meat was tough and fatty to boot.

the manager came out and said he would take that dish off the bill. I declined another dish as my dining companions were close to finished by the time that was settled. no one ever said another word to us about being sorry or acknowledged the situation. even with the meal removed our meal cost close to $200. Outrageous prices, poor service, and terrible food. will never return.

We went to Plate in Ardmore last evening. First indication of how bad it was going to be was when we walked in at 6:30 pm. Not a soul in the place. Had a very expensive poorly made drink at the bar then went to our table. Our waiter was nice enough but rest of service was horrible. The bus boys never cleared our appetizer plates and tried to serve our dinners twice. We had to ask 2 times to have appy plates cleared so we could be served dinner. I had the brisket which was a recommendation of the waiter. Sauce was boiling hot and meat was cold. Basically had been taken out of a refrig and thrown in a pan and fried up. Was thin sandwich slices and tough as shoe leather. Manager came over and was defensive and said he would take the meal off the bill. Still with that taken off was close to $200 for 4 people (3 meals). After that no one spoke to us again.

Expensive, poor service, inedible food, bad customer experience. Never again!

Overall the food is good. I especially like the mussels cooked in white wine. It is served with delicious bread and makes a great meal. However, the decor and furniture is very worn. Many of the table tops are very poor shape and the covering on some of the seats and benches are tattered. This restaurant needs to take a break. Update their menu. Overhaul the interior and have a re-opening. This is especially important with the close by competition from St. James Place which is very average food. Plate has been around for along time. This is a crucial time for the restaurant. If they don't adapt and come up with a new strategy I am greatly concerned this restaurant will survive.
