Picadillo plate was excellent, tacos de barbacoa was not good at all. Overall experience was okay, but probably would not come again.

Once we found Los Jalapeños, we rarely want to go anywhere else in Alpine. The chips and hot sauce are waaaay better than the usual fare, and the rice and beans are so goodyou can't just leave them on the plate to go back to the kitchen. My latest fave is the NewMex style enchiladas with red sauce and an egg on top...I'd eat that for dinner every night! Added bonus: they now have beer. Decor is pretty minimal but the chef is one hardworking guy!

You had to wait a bit for your meal since everything is made fresh so it was worth it! You felt like you were eating items that had been made using family recipes. One visit is not enough to this restaurant. Also, make sure to pay extra and get the chips and cheese dip.

We went here cause our fave spot (La Casita) is closed on Sunday evenings. We have a new fave spot!! Yes, the food comes out slowly, but unbelievably well prepared! ! We had the enmolada (chicken mole tacos) and Verde chicken enchiladas. The mole was delectable with subtle, nuanced,& complex flavors, the stacked enchiladas had superb taste and texture. Even the rice and beans were yummy! The menu offers a very wide selection of American,TexMex and interior Mex dishes. Our sweet server Rosemary was just hammered with business. Apparently they started serving beer and wine 2 days ago. I'm afraid this hidden gem will not be a secret for long!

This little restaurant, across the tracks, in the small west Texas town of Alpine, is well-worth the time to stop. It stands out in an area with many good Mexican restaurants. It is family run and fairly authentic and the food is prepared to order. Because of this, service can be slow so don't go there if you're in a hurry. The food is so good, you should just lean back and enjoy the wait.
