Staff helpful and friendly
Bar was great good selection of beverages

Breakfast bar was adequate for our needs coffee could have been stronger- but not a deal breaker

I gravitate toward older hotels, and this one has the charm and ambiance I look for. The room was artfully decorated and appointed. It was very quiet, although there were plenty of trains, they didn't bother me at all. Bed was great, just the right softness and room temperature was perfect. Definitely will repeat a visit to this hotel

The Holland is a heritage hotel. We stayed here for 2 nights when we visited the Big Bend National Park about 100 miles away. There aren't a lot of great hotel options out in this part of west Texas, but the Holland took care of our needs. Welcoming, great breakfast, Nice comfortable and clean room. No complaints at all about this place. The trains coming through town can be an inconvenience for some who may not be used to having horns blowing as they pass through, but hey, this is the wild west. They even had ear plugs in the room if you feel you need them. They also have other rooms behind the hotel but we didn't stay in them but you might inquire about them. Loved our stay there.

Room Tip: May want a quieter room in the back if you don't like trains.

I just love this hotel. She is the grand dame of the big bend country hotels having been founded in 1908. The Holland is not as over the top as the Gage. Doesn't have the movie history of the Paisano, but to me it is just more special. Well, it does have the Crystal Holland murder. The beautiful lobby is the first thing you see when you walk in. Everything is just right. There is a pool table in the room across from the bar. The bar is fun. The bartenders are competent .... and it has character. Our room was completely renovated, the bathroom fixtures were oiled bronze. The flat panel TV in our room can be watched from the king bed or the comfortable couch that stretches across the foot of the bed. There is a mini fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker in the room. They have a washer and drier on the third floor. There are complaints about train noise, so if you are sensitive to that, get a room away from the train tracks. It did not bother me at all. The complimentary breakfast includes pastries and muffins that they baked in the oven the night before. Ask the breakfast hostess for a cup of the Holland blend coffee. We ate at the restaurant and I have to admit it, I actually enjoyed the meal more than my meals at 12 Gage and Cochineal. I had some of the best braised short ribs ever, my wife had a perfectly cooked filet. The chef asked how we liked the food and cared. One other thing that was just fascinating, they had bound 40's, 70's and 80's LIFE magazines in our room. What fun!

Room Tip: This place is great, treat yourself to an upgrade room. Walk the halls and look at the pictures. Play a game of pool, have a drink at the bar, eat at the restaurant; at breakfast stuff yourself with fresh baked bacon and cheese biscuits , wash it down with Holland blend coffee. Before you checkout, walk the halls and look at the pictures. Take the morning air and walk down the street to the artist co-op and go admire the giant murals.

Hotel manager Jessica U. Went above and beyond to ensure our event at the Hotel was a success. It is a great location and we enjoyed all the amenities. The courtyard, the billiard room, the Century Bar and restaurant and more. We've stayed in other hotels in Alpine before we found the Holland. This is where we'll stay from now on.
