My wife and I travelled through Amarillo on our way to Colorado, then again a few days later on the return trip. We stayed at the Ambassador on the way up, then the Courtyard Downtown on the way back. Let me just say there's absolutely no comparison! I will agree Amarillo's downtown leaves a LOT to be desired, but we arrived late and drove to find dinner as there is absolutely no places open late downtown. The hotel itself is very nice inside and the room was terrific at any price. If you want a downtown hotel like something on the River walk in San Antonio, you will be disappointed, but it is the city and not the hotel. If you need to be downtown for business however, I cannot imagine a better choice.
