“Decent Place for an Overnight Stop but Very Poor Internet”
Reviewed 22 January 2012

Stayed here as an overnight stop between Phoenix and St. Louis. The hotel was clean and in a good location, but had a very poor internet connection. The front desk was no help and I ended up connection through the Hampton Inn that was next door. It's a good place to stop if you don't need the internet. Breakfast was adequate.

The place is dated, but clean. The staff was friendly.

But, all factors were outweighed by the overwhelming smell upon entry in the room. So strong! (I admit I do not like chemical smells, so part my opinion, but this was over the top).

Then through in the Internet was spotty to not working for most of my stay.

I will not be back

Room Tip: If you need Internet, this may not be the place

Wow, I was amazed with this hotel based on its price point. We needed a place to stay on our drive across the country with our dog. After a long day of driving through Texas, this was a welcome stop. After a few wrong turns, we arrived around 9pm and were greeted by Lynn. She got us checked in and told us all about local dining options, which we declined at the time.

We got to our room and it smelled fantastic. We settled in with no problems and realized we were very hungry, so we called Lynn and she hooked us up with a local pizza place. Very friendly. The room itself was clean and nice. We had wifi and my SO was able to get plenty of work done. Our dog was comfortable and calm in this room.

We left an empty gas can under the car (we had used it earlier in the day and it needed to be aired out). Apparently the security guard saw it and was concerned that someone had done something to our car. He took the can to the front desk and checked our car to make sure no one had poured gasoline on it. We picked the can up in the morning when I went to check out.

The breakfast was good. It was a typical continental breakfast, but was set up well and had everything we needed. The front desk staff in the morning was friendly.

All in all I was incredibly pleased with this hotel and would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling through Amarillo, especially if you have a dog.

Room Tip: Our room was in the back away from the highway. Was very quiet with no issues.

It's exactly what we wanted; a clean place to sleep with our dogs for the night.

The good: Reasonable rate. Free wifi. Accepts dogs with no fee. Park in front of your door. Refrigerator and decent bathroom.

The (not so)bad: The breakfast was very basic; biscuits n gravy, quaker oatmeal in bags, coffee, cereal, waffle maker, donuts. I know that sounds like every other continental or free breakfast but it might have been that the donuts were the mini-powdered lil debbies, I chose to get some on the road.

Otherwise good stay but set realistic expectations and you'll be a happy visitor. I will be staying there on our return trip.

After reading other reviews we were hesitant to stay here. But after calling and speaking with Lynn we decided it sounded good. No regrets! Everything was clean and modern. Great sleep without noise in a comfortable bed. It included free wifi and a great breakfast with homemade waffles in the shape of Texas. We would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: We had a room on the side and it was very quiet for being off the expressway.

I travel through Amarillo a lot. I've been looking for a decent budget priced hotel, and have struck out so many times, till now. This was exactly what I was looking for. A nice, clean room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, excellent wifi and low price! The sign said $49.99 and that is what I paid (plus tax, of course). This will be my stopping point in Amarillo from now on, as long as the price stays low.

they quoted an AAA discount when I checked in then I found out later that they did not discount the room rate and would not change to charge for the room even after I showed them they should of charged a lesser amount on their own website

Room Tip: check online first if you are an AAA or AARP member to make sure they offer the discount rate
