“Red Roof Inn-Good Deal for the price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2012

If you are looking for a clean motel without paying a fortune. I would highly recommend staying at the Red Roof Inn in Amarillo, TX. It was late and the price was flashing on the lighted board so we pulled over. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Its a lower end hotel, but for the price, I was pleasantly surprised.
The breakfast lacked a bit. No fresh fruit. Packaged little debbie donuts. But they did have cereal and the make your own waffles machine. Biscuits and gravy. Juice and coffee.
If you are in Amarillo and want to stay someplace decent without breaking your budget, I recommend this.

Good place to stay in Amarillo. I have been staying at this property for several years and am
very comfortable there. It is convenient to everywhere and has restaurants within walking distance. The staff is friendly. It is a good value and is comfortable.

Room Tip: I like the east side, bordering the Hampton.

Route 66 ran through Amarillo. It no longer exists...it's retro or reminiscent of an earlier time. Kind of like this motel that looks like something left over from decades past. Furnishings are dated with the TV looking to be 12-15 years old. The bathroom is way out of date. There are stains on the carpet and chair. Only the King bed looks to have been updated. Our unit was billed as a "King Deluxe", the "deluxe" apparently deriving from the presence of an ancient Sunbeam microwave and a refrigerator.

To top off this off, we're sitting in the room after dinner and another guest opens the door to our unit with a key given to them by the front desk...TWO HOURS AND FIFTEEN MINUTES AFTER WE'D CHECKED IN!!

Maybe we just got a bad room and sloppy front desk performance but what we experienced certainly is not reflective of other posted ratings for this property.

Room Tip: The property is right on Interstate 40. If you decide to stay here you'd be well served to ask f...

I have been staying here for soem time. It is clean, and the beds are good. There are no mints on the pillows but the price is right. The staff is friendly as well. They do have refrgerators, ironing boards, and wifi.

Room Tip: I do like the rooms that are not on the interstate side as it is a bit noisy in the front.

Spent one night here, and that was good for me. This place was definitely the case of 'you get what you pay for'. Yes, it was inexpensive, but as a result you get:
- rooms in dire need of renovation
- spotty WiFi
- an extremely meager continental breakfast. I chose to eat elsewhere.

The bed was fine, and it was clean, but all-in-all, I'll pay a little more to stay elsewhere the next time through Amarillo. Sorry Red Roof...you need a renovation!

We knew we were getting a fairly decent price for this hotel, so I guess we should have known it wasn't going to be that great. However, I had hoped for a little bit better since it cost more than other hotels in the area.
The beds were fair but harder than we are used to. The room and bathroom were clean but small. The air conditioner did an inadequate job of keeping the room regulated; it didn't cool off until early in the morning. The swimming pool was decent but a bit small. The breakfast was less than I hoped. They offered cereals, waffles, oatmeal, juices, coffee, and that's about it.

I would suggest that they update their rooms and breakfast if they want more business.
