Worth doing as it is so unique and very impressive. You do need to get fairly close for the full effect, but it goes on for quite a while so worth changing position to see from a different angle (eg down below bridge or from up on the bridge).

“Millions of bats, all in a row, like you have never seen them before!”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

People are always surprised by the bats, the number of bats, the way the fly away from the bridge, the fact that they are in the middle of the city of Austin and all the other interesting historical and science bits. Totally worth it! The kids will be amused.

“omg ... a NatGeo moment to see the bats!”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

Was very fortunate to have witnessed a bat fly-out so late in the season (12/1/2013). I assume these lingerers were delayed in their migration down to Mexico. It was incredibly dramatic, although I suspect even more so during peak season (Aug-Oct) when there's millions of bats. I know this may sound kinda creepy to some .... however such a unique event in an urban setting.

“Don't be fearful-PUT THIS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Please, don't let fear stop you from seeing this majestic natural event. We parked at the free parking near the dog park and soccer fields. Then we walked on the trail and UNDER the bridge to a little green space where people had gathered to watch the bats. It was absolutely amazing to watch them fly our from under the bridge. We watched them fly out for about 20 minutes. There is nothing to fear. The individual bats never came close to us.
